Such a quest for saving 5 dollars?!…read more Well as you may already know from all my previous Yelp entries, I am a bit of a cheap skate and penny pincher when it comes to getting things that I would hope to get free, so after checking several fingerprinting places, I decided to go to the Coral Gables Police Station for fingerprints because 1) they charge only $15, compared to the $20 price tag to have your fingerprints done at an independent place like Fingerprint Technologies. 2) They are also a five minute walk from my job, so what is the educated consumer supposed to do, just go there. I call beforehand on Monday, and I am greeted by a friendly operator who tells me that their fingerprint stand is open Wednesday to Thursday (it may have been Friday) from 8 am-5 pm. Only open 2 days a week?! The economy must be taking its toll. Still being a cheapskate, I wait until Wednesday because I want to save $5. Wednesday comes. I take a five minute walk, and I am greeted by their friendly staff members. "Cash only please!" What?! I was not told this before, so I asked if I could give them a check, and they gladly oblige. Good thing I brought my checkbook with me today. They tell me to wash my hands, and a lady does my fingerprints and answers my questions. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Since I have very defined fingerprints, they told me to hold onto my receipt, so that if they don't accept my fingerprints, they can do it again for free. Huge plus. Pros: Friendly staff! Cons: I wish they were open more days. Tips: Bring cash! Call before arriving. Be nice.

They are Open Tuesday and Thursday to the public from 9am - 2pm. It was quick and painless, not something I thought I would ever say about an experience at the police station. I walked right it, was printed and walked out. All under 10 minutes. If you need to get your prints done and live on the beach this is a great place to go.

I recommend coming during mornings or early afternoon during the weekdays when the plaza isn't as busy. It took me FOREVER to find a parking spot in this plaza. Don't park in the bank parking lot next door because there is a guy always on the lookout. There is parking behind the plaza but that can be hectic. Once you have found a parking spot after 20 years waiting, you will enter thru the doors that is right next to the cupcake store. The door may say some realtor company on it but you are going to take the stairs up. Go left and you will find the room on your right. It's not the most aesthetically pleasing room, kinda dark and super small. But hey, it gets the job done!
