Then the husband passed and his wife who also cut great hair, with sadness sold the business and moved away. New owners came in and now my teenagers wanted a "Skater cut" so we stopped coming to the shop. I noticed they offered a hot towel shave, every once in a while I'd slide in for a hot towel shave or a quick haircut. Whenever I had a big event like a wedding, I'd stop in for a shave. I don't go anywhere else for a shave, I like coming to Down Port Barber Shop for a hot towel shave and a haircut.

We were in a local shopping center doing errands, trying to figure out where to go to get his haircut????? Being that there's literally 15 barber shops all within the same couple of miles on Middle Country Road between Centereach and Selden, we came upon this one right next door to where we were. We walked in and had to wait a few brief minutes, as other clients were ahead of us. It gave me time to get a feel for the overall essence of this place ....I was sold!!! My observations proved true even after walking out of the shop 45 minutes later!!! There was even an older woman waiting to get her haircut, and upon having small chat with her told me she's been coming to this barbershop for many years (speaking so highly of Lori). Again, all positive vibes! My immediate thoughts presented a very warm, clean, and welcoming barbershop/salon. When I saw a female barber cutting hair, I was like "this looks like it's going to be a great fit for my husband"..... When it was my husband's turn, Lori (owner) greeted us with such a friendly and warm demeanor. Introductions were made and the rest is barber shop history....lol She did a fabulous job on the little bit of hair my husband has left....LOL ! He joked about that with her as well.... We have now found a new barbershop.... If you want a really special place with excellent service (and great prices too) BARBERrenos in Selden is the place to visit! I'm so happy we found a new spot so quickly on the spur-of-a-moment, which fits perfectly into our lifestyle (and so close to home). Thank you Lori for making our 1st experience at your phenomenal barber shop so enjoyable. We look forward to referring you to friends and family alike! See you soon....
