I've been coming to Paul's place for around 20yrs. And lets just say there is definitely a reason for this. But not just due to the fact that Paul is one of the nicest guys i know, always, always with a smile on his face. I don't know how he does it as he has never taken a vacation or day off that i know of. It's the quality and care he puts into each donut. As if your donut was the only one he prepared all day and was made just for you. Soft texture, not oily, smooth and rich frosting. He keeps his milk ice cold! But get here early! As Paul's shop is easily the most popular shop in Madera and the farmers could easily clean him out. read more

Absolutely false advertisement! Poor customer service. Asked for a half dozen, snuck a 7th one inside the bag. After I confirmed verbally for it to only be 6 donuts! Then he proceeded to overcharge me!! Total should have been 13 Got charged 25!! When going back to complain he said I asked for 7 when I had verbally confirmed 6! Then after my total was 13 tries to explain that I was being charged additional charges on the donuts I picked out as a double fee on top of the price labeled for the specific donuts! Got hustled to buy more then the 2 donuts I was already buying. He went on & on about giving me a great deal if I got more. He shamed me for leaving 1 apple fritter. And then it was $6 for 2 donuts. He gave me the wrong donut. They tasted fine. But they were not worth $3 each. The whole experience really kind of ticked me off. You, Sir, are not working a car sale lot and we aren't in NYC. Best Donuts in Madera. All the other reviews will tell you that Yum Yum donuts or Crispy Creme are better. I've tasted Donuts from Crispy Creme or Yum Yum donuts and both taste terrible. I don't think the people in this town know what a good donut is. I have been going here for 10 years and will never go back. I asked for a dozen Donuts and he got out a big box and said you have a big truck you need a big box. Then when I asked for a certain donut he would put 3 or 4 of each that I asked for at the end . I had a bill of $23 for a dozen donuts and 9 extra I didn't ask for. I think the owners has lost it . Fine Donuts does make the Best donuts in town (and better than most anywhere near here). Whenever I purchase them I either get Paul's donuts or none! However, today they lost me, and whoever listens to me, as a customers. My lifestyle, I purchase a dozen+ donuts only about 5-6 times a year. But I have, consistently, recommended Fine Donuts to everybody for over 10 years; Paul, how many customers do you think that might be?? THIS MORNING, ABOUT 9AM, I WENT IN TO PURCHASE 2 DOZEN DONUTS for the crew of volunteers helping distribute food boxes for the Food Bank. I figured between $25-28.00, Max!! Paul asked if I wanted some of the Bearclaws, Snails, etc. and I said "Yes, mix them up." Two boxes later, 3770, for TWO DOZEN DONUTS!! Don't think I'm chintzy or cheap, but almost $40 for a 2doz donut-gesture-of-gratitude? I could have gone next door to Taco Bell or McD's and bought breakfast for less! The prices weren't posted obviously anywhere that I could see & I didn't ask. That was MY FAULT! But from a respected Madera business...? I never expected them to Rip Me Off!! read more

Best donuts in Madera, Paul is the sweetest! Chocolate bars or sugar donuts are the best.

As this is the closest doughnut shop to my parents home, we usually come here whenever we feel like donuts. When this place first opened, they had a great selection of fresh donuts. And they should - this is a very large shop with many glass displays for the donuts. Unfortunately, the last three times we've gone, they've had a crappy selection. I mean, only glazed circle donuts or bars with or without chocolate frosting. And it's silly looking too because they have all these glass cases that are empty save one. Come on people. I will say, these incidents occurred during the late weekend morning around 10 am - 11am. Maybe if you get there really early the selection is better. read more

I was recommended by a Maderan, he suggested this donut joint was better than yumyums. Uhm... I'm curious if the day that I purchased a dozen was an off day but it was distasteful. I love all sugary sweets but I'm picky when it comes to a donut. The taste that it left in my mouth. A donut should never do that, the only Lingering taste should be of flavors of the topping, chocolate, custard, fillings. This was not the case. Tasted as if the batter was fried in old old oil. The donuts had airy hole pockets not much of dough. It felt like I was eating a ban tha go- which is similar to an Asian twin dough stick. Very airy and tough. Oh by the way I bought a dozen for $16.99. I could barely stomach 1 sugar coated donut. My husband didn't want them to go to waste so he ate 2. Brought them over to my sister and she couldn't finish one. We are sweet lovers! But this place is not receiving the love right now The man assisting me was very sweet, establishment stemmed to the ones I've visited frequently in my town, lighting could have been improved but I'm guessing they were closing. The place was dim as to where most lights were shit off. Will give this place a second chance if I happen to be going this way. Nothing compare's to Paul's donuts or his always happy smile in the mornings. We try to find donuts whenever we go out of town - we always leave saying "nothing compared to Paul's". Paul is always dependable and never disappoints!!! read more

It was my first time going to this place, my son and I order our Donuts we sit down to eat I looked down and saw a dead cockroach on the floor, I picked up my maple bar to take a bite and there's a dead cockroach in it!! I told the guy that was there and he took it from me and tried to give me another one, I declined and told him I didn't want any not even the ones I had already purchased. He didn't apologize or anything and was rude when I asked for my money back! Don't eat there unless you like roaches with your donuts!! read more
