Fincato, the oldest tobacco shop in Italy was recommended to me by a fellow cigar smoker from Florence. Given this, I made sure to stop by to pick up a few cigars. The selection was limited, but in the world of Cuban cigars, it usually is, BLAME CHINA! They take up 40% of the market now. The prices are reasonable on a global scale, but fixed within the country of Italy by the state. A lot of pictures will show that they have a lounge, however, the lounge is not an operation for various logistical and regulatory reasons. The folks here are very nice and knowledgeable, so I would definitely make this a stop while in Rome. read more

Initially I went here due to the lack of options in Rome. I was looking for some cigars to have with me during my travels. While Cuban cigars are still very tough to find in Italy and most European countries the staff was nice and told me to check back in the mornings when they get shipments. Unfortunately I was unable to do this with my travel schedule. I did get some of my go to Plasencia cigars for a reasonable price. I also was able to get some Italian cigars to try and take home to friends. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful. Even took the time to help my wife and I find a local restaurant for lunch which was another amazing recommendation...will be reviewed separately. In short they have a selection of cigars similar to what I would find in the U.S. although small inventory compared to the cigar shops I'm used to in the U.S. Excited to try the Italian cigars. Ignore their website. It's not kept current. Besides, their stock changes almost daily. All the cigar shops in Rome still have difficulty getting cigars from Cuba. I've heard various explanations as to whether the problem is with manufacturing or the supply chain to Italy. However, the who runs the cigar humidor on the top floor is very knowledgeable about Cuban cigars. He can provide solid recommendations regarding whatever, if anything, they happen to have in stock. read more

### Avoid This Cigar Shop in Rome I landed in Rome in a good mood, excited to find a place to smoke and buy some cigars. I arrived with my family and kids (luckily, they support my hobbies XD). The lobby gentleman selling pipe tobacco was super nice and professional, so I ended up spending over 100 Euros for three cans. It seemed like a great start to the day, so I headed straight to the humidor on the second floor, which was my main reason for visiting this shop. I asked for permission to enter the humidor to choose some cigars. I was allowed in without any warnings. Inside, I saw a box of Padrón cigars that wasn't sealed (the seal had been neatly cut). When I opened it to pick some cigars, something ridiculous happened. The same guy who let me into the humidor jumped up from his seat and started yelling at me furiously. He claimed that the section I was in was for customers who wanted to buy sealed full boxes of cigars. I felt sorry and tried to explain that I didn't know, showing him the already opened box with the cut seal. However, the guy, apparently agitated, started speaking to me in Italian. Being Spanish, I understood some of the nasty words he was throwing at me in front of my family and kids. I felt discriminated against and offended by his actions. I argued back, and although he realized I was right, he did not apologize. This experience left a bad taste. I don't think this is a proper place to buy or smoke a cigar. It might be good for regular Italian locals, but for tourists like me, I really do not recommend going there unless you're just looking for some pipe tobacco. I feel terrible for anyone else who might have had the same experience. Rome is a beautiful city. Any aficionado can enjoy a cigar in a nice plaza, feeling like kings of the world because of the magnificent surroundings. But not in this shop. It's supposed to be a Habana House, which makes it even more disappointing. Habana House should review this shop. It may sell a lot of cigars, but it's definitely not a nice place to get them, let alone smoke them. So, save yourself the trouble and time. Get your cigars elsewhere. (They don't have many Cubans, and their non-Cuban selection isn't great either--only a few from brands like Fuente Fuente, Davidoff, Padron, and Plasencia). read more

This place is very elegant. If you want Cuban cigars only go here. They often have no Cuban cigars between my experience of coming here once 2 years ago and multiple times recently. They get shipments in every 15-20 days and they sell out fast. They do have a selection of non-Cuban cigars. They are extremely expensive, however. I would not recommend you buy the new world cigars here as they are significantly cheaper in the U.S. For example, a padron 3000 was 17€. I can get these for less than 10$ in the U.S. The service is excellent both gentlemen are experts and friendly. The man upstairs where the cigars are speaks English. read more

Tucked away in Rome is a treasure for anyone who likes fine cigars and pipe tobacco. The hours are few and you may have to wait a while if you want to go upstairs to where the fine cigars are...but it is worth it. I was waiting at the door for an hour before it opened so I got to be first in line upstairs. You are helped by a specialist who is there just for you, everyone else must wait in the lounge outside the room with the cigars. I felt like I was buying a Ferrari! When I left there were 4 more people waiting in the lounge, and the store had just opened. I was able to get 6 very nice Cuban cigars and a beautiful black leather case which is made in Italy. This is the best cigar and tobacco shop I have ever been in...and I have been to so many in America I couldn't tell you. I didn't see many cigar shops in Rome so I was happy when Annie W told me about this cigar shop. I'm a fan of Cuban cigars and this shop is a official distributor of Cuban cigars. The shop is large - two stories and we got a personal tour from the gent who assisted me in my purchases. The shop houses many antique pipes and cigar paraphernalia which was interesting to view. There is a lounge upstairs but unfortunately the government has banned all indoor smoking! Sound familiar? I ended up purchasing all Cuban cigars and even brought a few back for my collection of cigars. read more

This was a difficult review to write because the people that work at Fincato's and their pipe and accessory selection deserve 5+ stars. However I visited a couple of times because they are a La Casa del Habano franchise and their cigar selection barely deserves 3 stars. If their beautiful shop was called La Casa del Pipa then 5 stars would be automatic. On the first visit the shelves in the humidor were pretty barren and what they had for Habanos was fairly generic. The most interesting items that I purchased that day were Trinidad Vigias, Punch 48's and Cohiba Medio Siglos. The second visit they had next to nothing in their humidor except a few miscellaneous tubos. I have been to 30+ LCDH's and this was the worst range of Habanos I've ever encountered unfortunately. Since Roma has a lack of decent cigar stores I would still recommend a visit to pick up a few to smoke. However if your itinerary includes a stop in Milano then I heartily suggest making your big purchases at their incredible LCDH. Even with their limited cigar selection, Fincato's still deserves 4 stars for their excellent customer service and gorgeous store. read more

As an avid pipe and cigar smoker, I make every effort to visit local tobacconists wherever I travel. Italy is famous for their distinct cigars and finely crafted briar smoking pipes. During my recent trip to Rome, I only wanted to visit the best pipe and cigar shop: Fincato. Established in 1932, Fincato has a long tradition in Rome. After one visit to the shop, the customer will know why it continues to thrive after 85 years. The cigar selection is excellent and features a wide variety of Cuban tobaccos. When in Rome, do as the Romans. If you ascribe to this old adage, you will certainly want to sample the myriad Italian cigar choices, which provide a unique smoking experience. Fincato carries a complete selection of Toscano and Ambasciator Italco cigars. I fell in love with these cigars while in Italy, and the staff at Fincato provided an outstanding overview of them. Fincato's pipe selection was my main impetus for visiting the shop, and it is clearly one of the great pipe establishments in the world. While the business sells many high and ultra-high end pipes, it also has pipes that can fit any budget (starting around €75,00). Fincato has an impressive collection of Dunhill pipes, as well as a plethora of finely crafted Italian pieces from Castello, Ascorti, Rinaldo, and their (very high-end) namesake brand. Of course, the shop is also a Savinelli dealer and carries a large variety of their briars. To check out the complete collection, head to the upstairs portion of the shop. There, the customer will find a museum-like display of new and antique pipes, a nice lounge area (although smoking is forbidden by law), the humidor, and a selection of fine liquors. Fincato also carries all of the pipe and cigar accouterments one could desire. They also have an array of fine European pipe tobaccos. The staff at Fincato is excellent and ensure the very best buying experience for the customer. My interactions with them were the best aspects of my visits to the shop. It is clear that Fincato only employs truly expert tobacconists. For the tobacco connoisseur living in or visiting Rome, it would be a travesty not to visit Fincato. Walked into this place and was at first taken back because there seemed to be a very small selection of cigars. I asked the gentlemen behind the counter and he instructed me that the good cigars are upstairs. I went upstairs and wow. Not only do they have a great selection of Cubans, they also have a nice collection of single malt scotch. I ended up buying a box of Cohibas and they are priced pretty well. It's nice to be able to grab a box of Cubans without getting knocked over the head with "tourist" prices. Great place to visit while in Rome. read more

On a visit to Rome I stumbled upon this amazing location. I am an American and we don't get Cuban cigars. Upon entering a gentlemen by the name (I believe) Emiliano, greeted me and walked me upstairs as he knew I was looking for Cuban cigars. The store has beautiful displays along the halls. On the second floor there is a gorgeous humidor with a large selection of fine cigars. I bought two cohibas, a robusto and a siglo. I cannot express how sincere Emiliano's customer service was. He kindly let me inspect the cigars and humored my American need for Cubans. As soon as I was done paying I asked him for a match box, he came back with a lighter with a Cohiba logo as gift! I wish we had this back home. This location is a must if you're into tobacco as the pipe selection was also huge. I will definitely be returning when I return to Rome. read more

If you're looking for good cigars (perhaps of the Cuban variety) THIS is the place. Don't go anywhere else. Yes there are other businesses in Rome listed on Yelp. This is the only one you need to bother with. The others dwarf in comparison. These folks had an entire upstairs section with a giant humidor. Even with the supply chain issues--they were out of cohibas (overrated IMHO)--they had Montecristos (a nice short one (Gordita or robusto) that lasts about an hour for $8 is just perfect). As far as brands, they had Partagás, H. Upmann, Hoyo de Monterrey, Punch, Romeo & Y Julietas. I also got some thinner Partagas & Montecristos, ask for small panatelas (these are NOT the crappy minis or cigarillos they have at airports). I got some various big ones (Montecristos & R&J that I gave out at a wedding in Tuscany). The folks here were professional, polite, informative & when I mentioned the wedding gift for my friend (the groom) the gentleman placed them in a lovely classy gift box. Ciao!!! read more

Located in an upscale area of ROME. Let's start upstairs where you can find Cuban cigars and high end smoking pipes but these rooms are roped off and you must be escorted by the staff. Downstairs they have an average selection of pipes and accessories and a very good array of pipe tobaccos 95% being the English brands such as Dunhill, Rattray's, Mc Connell & S. Gawith. Tobacco is very expensive in Italy due to high taxes. When in Rome, this is THE cigar shop!! We didn't get there until about 20 minutes to closing but the staff was very friendly and offered expert opinion on my selections! The Habanos are upstairs where we're we met by staff. I told him what I usually smoked in the USA and of the Cubans I had smoked in Florence. Within a few minutes we had chosen four new Cuban smokes for me to enjoy! I can't say enough about this staff and the selections! I'm in love. If you are in Rome, you must find this establishment. Not only is it the highest caliber cigar/tobacco shop anywhere in Rome, but, no wait, that's it. It is EASILY the highest quality in cigar selection. After walking upstairs through a section of high end personal humidors and "museum" of antique smoking tools, you are greeted by a fashionably dressed gentleman in front of a beautiful glass-walled humidor who retrieves a cedar tray to hand select the cigars you would like for you. He then leads you out of the humidor, and lets you browse their extensive selection (for Italy) of scotches and whiskies. Overall, it was just a top notch experience! read more

Well-apportioned two-story tobacconist tucked away off the nearest big plaza. I had directions and still walked by it twice and missed it, I had to ask an old lady at a newspaper stand where it was, but she certainly knew and I made my way inside. There's an impressive selection of pipes and other wares on the first floor, but I made my way upstairs to the cigars. There is a large glass walk-in humidor and some comfortable smoking areas. A very dapper gentleman accompanied me in the humidor and helped me make my selections, discussed the merits of certain vitolas, and pulled many boxes for me to review. I was specifically on the hunt for the Italia regional editions and was unfortunately informed that they were all out for the year...disappointment! But I can't fault them for that, the service and the shop itself was top notch. Prices are high as everywhere in the Eurozone, and the selection was wide although not quite as broad as I would have liked. There was also not as much readily-available well-aged stock. Italy is not nearly as much of a cigar country as Spain, and I had a time finding a good source here in Rome...this is definitely it! read more

I looked up a place to buy cigars to bring back to my dad and was immediately directed to Fincato. I have no idea what makes up a good cigar, but the men in here helped me and even gave me a little bit of backstory on why the cigars i bought were good. They spoke fine English and were as polite as can be. I would recommend if you're looking for quality Cuban, Italian, and other cigars. They have two levels with a large humidor on the second.
