I booked my appointment with her at least a month in advance and was extremely pleased with my experience. She listened to exactly what I wanted and told me what levels of blonde were achievable for my hair. She was easy to converse with and was extremely personable. I shared with Stephanie that other previous stylists have taken at least 8-12+ hours to work on my hair during previous appointments (Because previous stylists have worked on multiple clients at the same time as my appointment). Before my appointment, I did let her know how hard sitting for long hours is tough on my chronic back pain. Stephanie mentioned I would be in the chair for at least 6 hours, and as promised, I was in the chair for that long with no other clients being worked on during my appointment. It's important for me to not only have a stylist who can provide great service, but to also have a stylist whose primary focus is me (For example, I've had other stylists leave me in the chair for hours, not even checking on my foils). She was every bit of attentive and I appreciate this so much more than she knows. Stephanie shared that she typically only sees 1-3 clients each day as she wants to be attentive to each client she works on. I know I will be coming back again as it's important for me to feel prioritized during my appointment, instead of me sitting in the chair for hours. My hair was reeeaally long--so long that when straightened, I sometimes accidentally sat on it! I was looking to donate my hair, but was really nervous about cutting it so short. I'm a plus size girl, so I wasn't sure if short hair would look right with my round face. I was also hesitant to try this place given that there were no pictures or reviews on Yelp. Anyway, I just decided to go for it. Maria (I think that was her name) cut my hair (I believe it was a total of about 15 inches or so) and it came out great! I loved the length and the style! I felt completely relieved and glad that I decided to give this place a chance AND cut my hair so much shorter than what I'm used to! The second time I came (yesterday), I wanted a trim and color. I wanted my hair about the same length as I got before. I didn't realize how long it had been and how long my hair had actually gotten since the last time! The lady who did my hair this time was Carmen. I think she ended up trimming about 4 inches or so. Honestly, I think it's shorter than it was the first time, but that's pretty much what I had asked for and it still came out awesome! The part I was nervous about was the dye. I have been trying FOREVER to get my hair a deep purple color that is noticeable, but not too out there. I've been wanting it like this for YEARS!! I tried getting it professionally done (came out a bright red color) and once at home (came out a little more pinkish and washed out within a week because my hair is dark). I've been hesitant about going to another salon mostly because it gets so dang expensive and I'm ballin on a budget here lol. Anyway, after reaching out to a few salons, I just decided to go back here and try it. Basically take a chance again and hope for the best. Well, the best is what I got! The color came out exactly how I wanted it and she didn't even have to bleach my hair! Now, I realize it's not going to stay exactly like this after I wash it a couple times, but so far I am very pleased! In addition, the price was reasonable--$110 for a cut, color, and style. Aside from the quality of the work itself, the service was great! As soon as I walked in Maria acknowledged me (she was doing highlights on another woman) and even came over to me to assess my hair when she wasn't busy with the other woman. She's so down to earth and made me feel comfortable. She even remembered me when I mentioned the last time I came. The only thing that unsettled me when I first walked in was that it seemed like she might have forgotten about my appointment, but she called in Carmen and I only waited about 5 minutes or so before she sat me down. Now I don't know about you, but I like to have a conversation while I'm getting a service, mostly because silence makes me feel awkward in those types of situations, and Carmen was nice to talk to. Again, down to earth, like a human being and not just someone doing your hair. Even while my dye was in and I was waiting, Maria asked me a question (who sings "Despacito") and it felt more like an exchange with a family member than one with a stranger lol. Just another little thing that made me feel comfortable. Even the other woman getting highlights was nice! She was talking to Maria in Spanish (I don't speak Spanish, but I can understand a little) and commented that my hair color came out nice. :) Honestly, her highlights came out really nice too, but I was too shy to say anything to her about it lol. Anyway, it can be difficult to find a hair salon with people that you can trust not you mess you up, but I am definitely going to continue coming here, and might even start bringing my son for his haircuts too. I'm glad I didn't pay the $1000 dollars she tried to charge after she quoted me $550. It just…read moredidn't work that well and it wasn't there best experience. I took 2 trips to the salon, 8+ hours in the chair. All for the dream of wash and wear straight hair. The results were less effective than my last blow out alone. I lost about 6-7 inches in length. She asked if she could trim it, then cut it so she didn't have to use as much product. Because, as she kept saying, the product was so expensive. I went in the first time in this saloon I got a great blow out. I had asked about Japanese hair straightening. She suggested something called suplipass for $550 she said it was as effective and not as damaging. I decided to try it, I texted the saloon and was told it was 2 treatments done a few days a part. I showed up for the first part and Silvia said it would be $1000 for both treatments and a trim instead of the $550 she told me before. No way, She pulled out her notes from our first appointment and confirmed that she quoted me $550. Then she tried to tell me that was only for half the treatment, which is a strange. I even talked to another person in her salon who quoted me 450 for both treatments so I am pretty sure that's what they normally charge. I almost walked out but she agreed to the original price. About near the end of the first treatment; after 3 hours, she says this may not actually get my hair all that straight. Huh? Why are we doing this then? End results: my hair still very wavy, I lost years worth of length and the wave makes the cut look uneven. Glad I didn't drop $1000.

I was pointed in her direction which was a few mins away nearing my hotel direction, and she squeezed/booked me in for a messy up-doo style the next day (wedding day). As long as my hair was off my neck given the hot weather, I didn't really care too much but she sectioned, blew dried straight, then added the curls pinning up with some loose/fallen as requested, positioning in my hair clip facinator to finish... and I got many compliments which says it all. Such a lovely down to earth friendly lady with a nice, clean and cosy salon. $50CAD which was reasonable given she kindly fitted me into her already busy calendar (so it's not like she was desperate for my custom/money) oh and the day before when I first met she... she gave me a small-but-you-could-tell-it-wasn't-cheap hair oil product to put in my hair after washing in prep' for my appt). My husband says I have "lion head" when I don't straighten it. Jennie did a Yuko treatment to straighten my hair and get the friz out. Amazing what it has done for me.
