I am submitting this complaint regarding an experience I recently had with one of your stylists who…read moreprovides children's hair services. I booked an appointment because the stylist was advertising a promotion for a specific children's hairstyle. I sent her a picture of the hairstyle I wanted for my daughter, and based on the promotion and the picture I provided, I reasonably expected my daughter to receive that style. However, when the appointment took place, the stylist did not perform the hairstyle that was advertised or the style I had shown her. The promotional hairstyle also included a bow. During the appointment, the stylist asked me what color bow I wanted, which led me to believe the bow would be provided as part of the service. However, she never provided the bow. Despite the fact that the service I received was not the promotional style I booked and the included accessory was not provided, I was still charged the full price. When I brought this to the stylist's attention and explained that this was not what we had discussed, her response and attitude toward me were extremely rude and disrespectful. I was not treated as though I was simply raising a reasonable concern about a service I had paid for. Instead, the interaction became unnecessarily hostile and uncomfortable. What concerns me even more is how my daughter was treated during the appointment. My daughter is a child with disabilities, and I made the stylist aware of this. My daughter was in the chair for approximately three hours. She did not scream or cry throughout the entire appointment. She briefly reacted a few times because the braiding was painful, which is something that can happen when a child is getting their hair braided. Other than those brief moments, she cooperated with the service. The stylist stated that she works with children, which made her attitude particularly concerning to me. After I explained my daughter's disabilities, the stylist responded in a way that made me feel as though my daughter's behavior was an inconvenience rather than something that should have been handled with patience and professionalism. The interaction affected my daughter emotionally. Afterward, my daughter told me that the stylist hated her and didn't like her. As her mother, that was extremely upsetting for me to hear. A child should not leave a professional children's hair appointment feeling disliked, unwanted, or ashamed because they experienced discomfort during a service. I understand that working with children can sometimes be challenging, and I am not expecting a stylist to tolerate inappropriate behavior. However, there is a major difference between appropriately managing a child's behavior and treating a child and their parent with disrespect. If a stylist advertises that they work with children, I expect them to demonstrate patience, professionalism, and appropriate communication, particularly when working with a child who has disabilities. I am asking management to please review this situation, including the advertised promotion and the conduct of the stylist during my daughter's appointment. I would also like clarification as to why I was charged the full price when the promotional hairstyle and included bow were not provided. I am not submitting this complaint simply because I was unhappy with the hairstyle. My concern is the combination of the service not matching what was advertised, being charged full price after raising the issue, and the way both my daughter and I were treated when I attempted to address the matter. I would appreciate a response from management regarding how this situation will be addressed. I also hope the shop takes this complaint seriously so that other parents, particularly parents of children with disabilities, do not have a similar experience.

When I questioned it, Joia became tense and loud. I was asked if other customers should weigh in on the price change, which felt extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. Yet I've stopped coming to him recently because of a few issues. For one, he cancelled our appointment the day of, without offering a reasonable time or compensation to come in and make up. I had to leave for two weeks half a week later, so I didn't cut my cut until three weeks later when I was back in town. He also crashed out on me when I told him I wasn't happy with the cut. Mind you, this was the first time I had asked for an edit and I decided to call him instead of text because I respected his craft, and the first words out of his mouth were, "Oh my god, you can't be serious." I was completely taken aback and I didn't know how to respond with how unprofessional, emotional, and condescending he was towards me. He preceded to give a poor edit without much time and attention, and that completely turned me off to seeing him again. I never understood why he got so mad when my hair never required heavy maintenance or a foil or anything like that; it was literally just a 15 minute hair cut. That situation alone was a HUGE deal breaker, and I'm still bothered by it to this day. There were also many times I sat down at the agreed upon time, and I had to wait 30+ minutes for him to finish with the current client. I felt like he was more unprofessional than reviewers had let on, but he gave decent cuts, so I never complained. It's too bad, because otherwise, I would agree with what everyone else is saying. He's a great guy except for that last month I was with him.

It is with a sorrowful heart that find myself in a position whereby it is necessary to severely…read moredowngrade a rating for a business which I initially gave rave reviews. It is without question that my crocheted hair styles fashioned by Bernadette R., first while at Twist and Go in Laurel, and later at Bee Natural Haircare, also located in Laurel in the shopping center near Chuck E Cheese were always very attractive and too, I enjoyed working with Bernadette and trusted her recommendation to go to crocheted hair styles as a protective style for my thinning, fragile hair. So, naturally when Ms. Granger, decided to branch out and open her own shop in the nearby vicinity, It was a given that I would move with her-especially as my hair looked beautiful when Ieft her shop... even if I had to return (sometimes she came to my home) to correct a situation or to address an issue with which I was not satisfied. I remained a loyal client despite an increase in the cost of $25-$35 in addition to me purchasing the hair. No problem because I understood that Bernadette was now responsible for all of the bills herself. So, about every 6-7 weeks I would faithfully schedule my appointment with Bernadette Ranger at Bee Natural Haircare. Because of the frailty of my hair I became concerned that the weight of the crocheted hair might be creating additional stress on my hair and began to do some research. What I discovered was a method which was recommended for hair care professionals to use for their clients who were dealing with such issues as alopecia. This procedure involved the hair being attached to a crochet wig cap as opposed to being attached directly to the hair itself and could even be used in cases whereby there was significant hair loss. I was so excited that I approached Bernadette about it and inquired as to whether she was familiar with it. Although she acknowledged that she had not worked with this particular process, she embraced the idea fully and was open to viewing the tutorials which I located and forwarded to her. Shortly afterwards I secured the wig caps along with the hair and we began that journey. For the most part, I was satisfied with the process and the results in terms of what it looked like or physical appearance. I had not seen my hair outside of what it looked like after an install until about six weeks ago when I decided to go with a human hair wig unit and to stop crocheting my hair. I came to this decision after realizing that the primary reason I had gone to the crochet route was because I was reluctant to the idea of wearing a wig. However, when I considered it, I had actually been doing that the whole time. And so, I chose to make a budget conscious decision to stop crocheting and made Bernadette aware of my decision. After purchasing and receiving my units I carefully removed crochet hair from my last install and used my Denman 30 brush which is designed especially for natural hair. When I brushed my hair, I was shocked!!! Totally and absolutely SHOCKED!!! Although I anticipated some hair loss after a year with crochet hair and not really having an opportunity to wash and condition my own hair, I was in total shock at the amount of hair that was in my brush. I mean my brush was totally covered with my hair. What was supposed to have been a protective style wound up being absolutely devastating and detrimental to my hair. Now, please understand that while I do not fault Bernadette for t decline in my hair, I hold her accountable in her role as a hair care professional for failing to disclose to me over the course of one whole year what she was seeing each time she did a new install which again was every six to seven weeks. It is my belief that it was her fiduciary responsibility to have disclosed that information to me as a consumer and as her client which she purported to care so much about. Had she not been someone who stressed the fact that she was so concerned about one hair I would probably not feel as strongly as I do and been as disappointed as I was and as I still AM. But what's even more disturbing is that when I contacted Bernadette Ranger to voice my concerns and to express my disappointment, I was met with justification. I expressed to Bernadette that all I was seeking was an acknowledgement and an apology. I also made it saliently clear that I was not holding her responsible for the fact that my hair had deteriorated but rather for the fact that she had withheld that information from me as my hair care professional. After all she was seeing what I had not been able to see in a year's time. Therefore, I contend that she should have at least expressed to me or informed me that perhaps this method of a protective styling may not have been the best option for me after all. We all make mistakes. It's only human and that is both understandable and forgivable. What is not forgivable is one's inability or refusal to take responsibility for their actions or inactions in this cas

Her hair always looked healthy and one day she shared her secret weapon Darla with me. My first few appointments with Darla were basically to see if I liked her style. A lot of times stylists are stuck and only capable of doing hair with styles that reflect their age, however Darla is able to keep up with the new trends and what fits you best. After I was able to experience Darla was a great stylist I was able to venture out and let Darla give me a Brazilian Blowout. In the black hair community the thought of a "blowout" of any sort sounds crazy. I have seen and heard horror stories about what has happened with people going to salons that are not accustomed to black hair care and once they get a Brazilian they suffer major hair loss. I was able to have confidence with Darla and let me tell you, it was probably one of the best things I ever did for my hair. The blowout changed my hair life for sure. It made it so manageable and allowed for me to wear styles I typically would not attempt. In addition to the styles my hair breakage was next to none. My hair began to grow without the major split ends I use to have to deal with. The next level of trust with Darla was to let her apply highlights. She made them look so natural (which I really wanted. I don't like stripes). Eventually one day I told her to color all of my hair. I was really apprehensive because many years ago when I highlighted my hair all the color pieces were very weak and brittle and broke off. Darla applied the color and a Brazilian touch up all in the same day and I had absolutely no issues and my hair remained healthy and easy to style myself. If you're looking for a new stylist or a Brazilian Blowout specialist this is the place to go.
