I seriously don't know how I haven't written this review…read more First, some back story. In 2011 my dad was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive skin cancer. About 3,000 people worldwide are diagnosed with this every year. Anyhow we're fortunate to be in Philly where there is world class medicine, and he's a retired Union telephone worker which meant his health insurance was good. What does this have to do with Dr. Turner? Good question. Many of the doctors who took care of my dad were very specialized. When I asked if they'd look at a spot on my skin, they said no, because they don't see routine skin issues. Instead, his team sent me to Dr. Turner. I've been seeing her ever since. Her office is on the ground floor of a professional building near Bryn Mawr Hospital. Easy to get to and plenty of parking in their rear lot, which is also the building main entrance. Her office is clean and bright, her staff friendly and she's very easy to talk to, especially when I'm always secretly terrified I'll also get a rare cancer like dad (not hereditary). I would recommend her for medical dermatology in a heartbeat. I don't use any cosmetic skin care so I can't peak to that.

When I did attempt to ask questions she laughed and smiled as if to mock me. She rushed me in and out of my appointment and failed to ask for my current pharmacy since I hadn't been there for 3 years, which resulted in my medication being sent to the wrong pharmacy. In addition she prescribed me an antibiotic for mild acne which I expressed did not help when she tried this 3 years ago. When I left the review with them mentioning lack of person-centered care, the nurse manager called me and questioned my authority to make decisions about not wanting to be on an antibiotic for 4 pimples, when I explained that I had difficulty with antibiotic resistance in the past she began quizzing me on my educational background and clinical experiences. I got off the phone so frustrated at how unprofessional this practice is.

She is always very pleasant, personable, and puts my mind at ease. I appreciate the gadget she uses to inspect my skin and her eagle eye. I know I am in expert hands when I have my skin checks. I also purchase all my skin care products from her office. After each visit, I make sure I get my physical sunscreen and vitamin C serum. The medical assistants always have smiles on their faces and you can tell that everyone at that office enjoys what they do. I recommend Dr. Z and her assistants. They are fabulous!

I have always been pleased with the Dr. Zellis' treatment until a recent horrible experience. The practice changed office policy requiring patients to agree to paying a 25% additional costs for use of a collections agency for unpaid debt. I have never been delinquent in paying my bills and have sign agreements which makes me responsible for payment regardless of insurance claims. Many businesses use collections agencies for unpaid debts. However, there are times when claims are filed incorrctly by the provider and straightening out the issues with the insurance companies takes time. Adding a collections agency to the process with an additional fee of 25% of the debt just creates more ptoblems for those of us who pay our debts. The idea of assessing a fee on top of an unpaid debt just doesn't make sense. Think about it, if you can't collect the money due, what makes you think you are going to collect another 25% on top. My treatment by the office finance manager and Dr. zellis was appalling! While in the office for my six month visit, I was told Dr. Zellis will not treat me without signing the new policy document. Finance policy over healthcare treatment. Unprofessional and Disgusting! Now, I need to wait another 3-6 months with a new provider and hope no new cancers are found! Find a dermotology practice which cares more about their patients' health than their office policies!

Dr. Perlis not only saw me that day but removed the skin cancer the same day without an appointment. That was in 2019. I am still seeing him and would never go anywhere else. Exceptional care…read more Dr. Clifford Perlis and his staff went above and beyond expected treatment to accommodate my wheelchair-confined husband. On the day of his appointment, we were seen promptly and given the utmost respect. Throughout my husband's Mohs surgery, I was kept apprised of the progress of his procedure. As the treated area on his forehead heals, the scar is barely visible. Prior to my husband's appointment, I read about Dr. Perlis's stellar medical training, but I was unaware of his equally exceptional caring attitude. Without hesitation, I would recommend Dr. Perlis to anyone requiring a board-certified dermatologist also trained in Mohs surgery.
