The whole store reminded me of some Japanese department stores especially with the stationery parts. I got some washi tape for a friend! I also saw some sale books for like 5 euro which seems pretty cheap especially for Finland! There is also self checkout machines which I appreciate!

I was wandering by the Rock Church today and walked into this bookshop. The owner's wife greeted…read moreme and was very kind and suggested I stay awhile and see the shop, and then another worker did the same! The front is absolutely beautiful, spacious and yet packed with rare books, signed books, all the books you'd want. It's mostly English but there are also French, German, and Spanish books that I saw. I couldn't see the entire store because there was an international conference on JRR Tolkien's languages going on. As in Elvish etc. But I did get to see the pool table (5 euros an hour), foosball, the snake, a model of Helsinki made of transformer parts, etc. etc. They were very helpful and went back to the warehouse to get a box of books that I wanted. They have programs on every night with concerts, lectures, etc. I highly highly recommend making a stop here!

Not just CDs but also lots of LPs are lined up in the shelves here and waiting to be listened to. You can find both new and second hand. Digelius has a great selection of World and Jazz music. And also has some small treasures like special music books or special CD collections for sale. The shop has a long history. And through all this time is has been taken care of by Emu, the guy working here already for 40 years. Nice food, often great vegetarian options as well. Clean restrooms, the only bummer is that they're unisex. It's the place where the Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks played regularly. Hanoi Rocks formed in 1979. They were the first Finnish band to chart in the UK & they were also popular in Japan. The band broke up in June 1985 after the drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley died in a car accident during their first US tour in December 1984. Hanoi Rocks have been cited as a major influence in the glam metal genre for bands such as Guns N' Roses, Skid Row & Poison.
