A cozy coffee house in downtown Mankato in the old town district. It's across the street from a vintage comic book store, how good can it get? There is a unique and typical sandwich menu some of which are served fresh grilled. There is a choice of the usual chips or fruit. The menu of coffees is the same served everywhere so what makes the difference is the layout, the outdoor dining area, friendly barista, not an eye roll ever! I haven't been to Mankato since the 90's and didn't even recognize the rest of the business district as there are tremendous changes and even a couple of buildings that may be considered at least small skyscrapers. When and if in the area again I'll make a stop at this great caffeine depot. Oh yeah my usual dark roast brewed ranks in my top five of all time coffee places.

    Not impressed!

Well, it's a quirky coffee shop, like the old beatniks era. The barista was nice, but I must admit the cortado I order was NOT a winner for me. Tasted like a basic coffee with a bit of 1% milk. I eventually just dumped it. Maybe I'll try again, but I doubt it.

They have pretty good coffee over here! It was my first time checking the place out with my friend. I would say the customer service wasn't the absolute best though. She seemed rushed and wasn't having the best day. It was mildly busy (we went on a Saturday). I got the Vanilla Bee (very good!!) it's from their top 10 list. My friend got an Italian soda and that was pretty decent. I'd say check this place out at least once, and decide where to go from there!

    The espresso is pretty good.

Lovely cappuccino and latte. Even gave my husband a free in for his birthday!

Very good coffee, staff and place to get work, chat or casual reading done. The snacks look great but I have to avoid too many desserts.

I absolutely hate leaving bad reviews but both our cold brew and espresso was comparable to the taste of dirty water.

What happened to your Chai tea latte? Weeks ago I was flavorful and spicy, now it's no better than Starbucks....

I love the coffee hag, it is the best place to go in Mankato for coffee. They have a really yummy chai, best chai I've ever had.

We started with strawberry iced tea with hibiscus ice cubes, which was so refreshing. We ordered a pot of the jade oolong, and it was delicious, although the whole menu is huge and the variety is fantastic. The food was AMAZING; it's all vegan, but even us meat-eaters were satisfied! We started with warm cherry fig scones (shaped like teapots!), then had loaded potato salad, butterbean soup, and various tea sandwiches (the vegan "pastrami" from The Herbivorous Butcher was so good!). The dessert tray was the high point, though: dark chocolate orange chia pudding with coconut whipped cream, their famous almond tea cookies, and these tropical fruit pastries that I can't remember the name of. My boyfriend is not normally a fan of sweets and he still ate most of his half, which is saying something! The shop itself is adorable; the decor is eclectic and cozy, and there's a little shop in the back where you can buy bags of their tea as well as other cute products. I definitely want to go back again to try their other teas and just sit and read. Seriously, this is one of my favorite places in the area!

I am the last person to tell someone to smile. SO annoying! But, the 3 people working looked so unhappy to be there. No friendliness whatsoever. Now, I am obviously not aware of placement of individuals on the neurodivergency scale, but if one is in customer service and especially serving ice cream, some level of joyfulness might be expected. Perhaps even, dare I say, a smile when a customer makes a funny mistake. I know I said they were busy, but they didn't seem frantic or overrun in any way. It just felt a bit uncomfortable, like when you walk in on an argument and they stop because you came in. BUT, back to the ice cream. It was good. Would have loved a peanut butter chocolate flavor (not available that day), but was okay with cookie dough and Macha as a surpringly good combo. We also had the cafe latte da, which was amazing! Will likely go back again with hopes of a more comfortable, maybe even joyful, experience. I'll be sure to time it when PB Loves Chocolate is being served!
