We absolutely loved this museum! It's interactive, informative and rich on history. It had been a long time dream of mine since I was younger to visit New York- specifically to see the Statue of Liberty. The museum itself provides a comprehensive experience filled with artifacts, photos, and a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of New York Harbor. Entrance to the museum is included with the cost of any standard ferry ticket to Liberty Island. My wife and I spent a few hours here as we basked in the glory of Lady Liberty. It was quite the experience. Highly recommend to anyone interested in learning about the history, construction, and global symbolism of Lady Liberty.

My first visit to Liberty Island was on Sep 10, 2008. The museum in its current form didn't exist…read morethen. What existed back then was on a much smaller scale, closer in size to a gift shop. The statue itself was closed to visitors. We spent less than an hour (mostly walking around the island and taking a breather) and then returned to the mainland. Our second and most recent visit was on Jun 23, 2025 as part of the Road Scholar's "American Mosaic - An NYC Exploration". It was a much different experience. Since our tickets were taken care off in advance, there was no waiting in line... except for the boat to take us from point A to point B. The museum has everything there is to know about Lady Liberty, from her history, design, construction to her continuing impact since. At the Inspiration Gallery, we had our photos taken at a kiosk and watched it appeared on the extra-large Becoming Liberty screen. We continued watching as our photo formed a collage with other visitors' photos in the shape of Lady Liberty. That was impressive. I was also impressed with the life-size replicas of Lady Liberty's face, feet and torch. While at the Inspiration Gallery, I happened to catch the second half of a park ranger's lecture about Lady Liberty. It was very informative. He spoke about Lady Liberty's history and what it meant to him, emphasizing the responsibility of exercising one's civil liberty. I didn't take as much pictures and videos as I should, but I'm glad with the ones I did took. At the Engagement Gallery - the historical part of the museum - I captured on video the entire "Making of the Statue" exhibit. This meant we sat on the floor, then got up, proceeded to the next screen, and repeated the sitting down and the getting up two more times. Quite an inconvenience. I guessed that must be the "Immersive" being alluded to by the theater name. We weren't able to enter the statue itself. Our tickets didn't include that. It requires a separate reservation of at least six to nine months in advance. Consequently, that affected the overall score. 4 stars is better than 2, which would have been my rating for the 2008 visit.

I chose not to check my coat, draping it over my arm. A security guard ran over: "you either have to wear it or check it," she said. Watching a video, I took a slug of water when I coughed. "No drinking!" another guard admonished. A few minutes later I popped a cough drop. Don't think I wasn't called out on that!!! I asked if the threat of ICE is causing increased (and curious) security. I didn't get an answer. This is a small museum. It's worth visiting.

I remember listening to the immigration stories during those sessions and crying because so many of them reminded me of my own journey, with all the hardship, loneliness, and the long road it took to start over. Walking through the Holocaust exhibits is something I will never forget. Looking at the photos and reading the captions left me completely heartbroken. The pain is something I can't fully describe. This museum honors people who endured the most unimaginable cruelty, and being there forces you to face that history with your whole heart. I've taken my niece and nephews, and we all felt the same deep sadness and respect. My nephew even had his 8th grade graduation there, which makes the place even more meaningful to me. It's a space filled with memory, grief, resilience, and reflection, and it will always hold a special place in my life. It's also helpful to know that admission is free on Wednesdays, which makes it even easier for people to experience this important and emotional museum.

Admission- Free If you are in the Queens area, definitely make a pit stop here. Take 7 train to 33rd St-Rawson St. Head towards 32nd place between 47th and 48th Ave.

More if you want to watch all the short films I have been to this small museum on Park Avenue a handful of times. The place consists of a few floors, accessible via a beautiful staircase or an elevator, with the main floor having an excellent gift shop, a small cafe, a tiny amount of stuff from other exhibitions, and stairs downstairs to go to their theater, which has rotating interesting movies mostly from years ago from a variety of Asian countries, of course. The second floor has the largest section, and either has one large exhibition, or the first/larger half of an exhibition continued upstairs, along with a little theater showcasing short films. The third floor has the remaining half, or other new exhibits, and another room, which is smaller. The most recent time I went there was a week ago. The main exhibition, split between two floors, was Buddha and Shiva, Lotus and Dragon, which appropriately has 70 of their finest works as it is celebrating their 70th anniversary. As can be seen in the photos, this ranged from statues and other relics to beautiful ceramics, among other things. There was also a small section including contributions from Blanchette Rockefeller, and a small collection of recent acquisitions on the third floor. The current short film series is Busy Busy Towns, an alright showcase of stop motion and short documentaries, with the longest one by a mile being a 35-minute short film called Factory by Chen Chieh-jen, produced in 2003. The concept was interesting, but I found it to be a snoozefest. As per last time, it wasn't the longest visit, but it was still nice. This isn't my favorite museum in the city, but it's nice for an afternoon visit. As said, check the current selection to see if you're interested.

Behind each painting is a story and a song. Videos of songs with natives dancing on interactive monitors. Bark painting in brown coloring of the bark against an off-white background. There is one painting in blue done with permission from a handicap painter. Paintings divided up between men and women painters women painters tend to paint scenes of domestic life.. This is the first review in Yelp and TripAdvisor on the subject matter, and probably the only review as exhibit was on display for only 3.5 months starting in mid September 2024. Sharks in Australia? Never been to Australia, and this is as close as I will come.
