They offer bike insurance for an additional price (not included in the iAmsterdam pass) and they seemed to have a slight attitude when I declined, but overall my experience was still good. I did see someone run over a beer bottle cap at the park which popped their tires, so maybe the bike insurance isn't so bad of an idea. The employees ensure that the bike frame and seat height fits and that we know how to use the locking mechanism before we get sent out. Bikes are in decent condition, functional for the most part, but could be better.

When I saw that Blue Lagoon had the word "coffee shop" in it, I thought that I was walking into a coffee shop and not a dispensary. Since this was my first time in Amsterdam, this kind of thing genuinely surprised me! This dispensary, or shall I say coffee shop, is a little hidden gem that has a ton of seating where you can enjoy whatever type of weed you're having. I have a love/hate relationship with weed in general - sometimes I want to take it, other times I do not. If I end up taking week in most cases, even if it's a small amount, I sometimes feel like a fish out of water. My dad ended up ordering a red velvet cupcake edible, which was titled "Sweet Sins Bakery". While the cupcakes looked good to eat, I didn't even try to have one bite of it. Other edibles besides this specific cupcake are also available. Cool place and I think this is the closest coffee shop that was within walking distance of our hotel. Also located right across the street is a train station (which we took to get here), which is convenient.

Decided to move on and find food. Didn't make it back to Blue Lagoon but I smoked the joint. It was basically a cigarette. Had no effect and ending up tossing it because it tasted bad....like a cigarette. Maybe there are other strains or hanging out there improves things but I wouldn't go out of my way. This is the new address of Mac Bike Marnixstraat. I didn't pay attention if this shop already…read moreexisted before or if it's really a new M B location. I can only mention that I've spotted some familiar faces from the old shop. Unfortunately this one is not so close to my home like the other one but I wanted to give it a try. Another downside of the new location for me is that it's in a way more frequented area, that's why I couldn't get my brake and lights fixed on the spot. Since I had to leave it there I got a leenfiets (think of bringing a legitimatie or credit card for that). With the red bike I immediately felt like a tourist and was tempted to behave accordingly. Lekker de verkeerde kant op fietsen in the middle of the street, stop and turn on the fietspad, just because I can. But I resisted. Today I got my bike back and my conclusion is that I can recommend this Mac Bike because of the friendly staff and good service.

I…read moreplanned to just rent a bike for the day, but the sweet employees of MacBike let me borrow one for a few minutes while Todd made a hilarious video on my phone, complete with commentary. When my wallet was stolen from my bag later and I was without ANYTHING, Todd and the other employees let me use their wifi to make contact back home and figure out what my next steps would be. Todd helped me find the police station and everyone did their best to calm me down while I completely flipped out. I am SO SO grateful to the wonderful employees who helped turn my trip from a nightmare to a really enjoyable day. They are wonderful!
