My wife is Celiac so must avoid gluten and our server Kristen was great as she is as well and made absolutely sure that she let my wife know what was safe. Got the 3 street tacos(steak, al pastor, carnitas), taco salad, kids meal burger. Taco salad was ok. Burger was burnt to a crisp and dried out. All 3 meats in the taco were the driest meat I've ever had. I couldn't even tell what was what. Carnitas at least should have had some moisture. We have always liked the food here but we almost always get take away. Tonight we dined in. All around us had chips and salsa. We were never given any until we flagged down our waiter and asked. It took quite awhile to get our food. When it finally came, the mole sauce was clearly straight from the fridge as it was cold to the touch and what it covered was barely luke warm. After some time, we were finally able to flag down a waiter. The waiter apologized and left without even taking the cold plate. When he finally retuned, we asked for the manager. The manager said "we are busy, what am I doing wrong?" I get that it was busy on a Friday night and mistakes happen but no real apology and basically acted like we were asking for something that was out of the ordinary. Warm food? This is currently my local go to Mexican restaurant. I really like fajitas here. Very large helpings with all the fixins. Also I like the three enchilada plate...excellent variety. El Mocajete is huge, could feed a family and the meat, juices, and flavor- awesome! Chicken soup is large, flavorful, and a winter staple for me. So we have been 4 times now since my last review. Always good service and great food. This trip however our server was terrible. Ordered peach Margarita got regular and it was suppose to be blended and it was all melted so basically just a drink all the frozen drinks were melted. I had an order to go was so dissatisfied that when I ordered a large Queso I got like 25 chips. I called I asked to speak to a manager and they said none were working. I should call back tomorrow. I asked who was working tomorrow they had no clue. I then proceeded to tell the lady over the phone why I was upset..... she said it was normal to get that few amount of chips with a large order of Queso, they are after all free. (Basically I was lucky I got any). I paid for a large Queso and Chips. The Queso was fine the chips however were gone after 1/6th of the Queso was gone. Bad service. Bad deal. This place is the WORST PLACE EVER!!!!! I have a shredded beef chimi and it was so tough I couldn't chew it! The service was horrible and the wait staff fought with me over my food!! They put pineappl juice in every thing, my cheese was even sweet. I ended up ordering a tamale and even that was sweet and very discusting. There was so much preservatives in the food (I have allergies to them) that I was foaming in my mouth,I took back roads home as I was sure I would have to pull over and throw up. Very pleased. We usually order one of the molcajetes as we get lots to take home. This time we started with an appetizer, shrimp stuffed with cheese and jalpeño wrapped in bacon on a bed of grilled onions. Wow!!! We also tried the top shelf guacamole made table side, another hit. It had 5 avacados in it. We ended up bringing half home as it was just too much food. We always have the Texas margaritas, among the best we've tasted. I hesitated to write this review because this is a hidden little gem. We werent quite sure what to expect when you drive up and see the restaurant is attached to the gas station. Don't let that stop you. My first recommendation is to preview the menu on-line before you go. The menu is fairly large! We started with a couple margaritas (blended), a raspberry and a mango. The Medium size is pretty big. The margaritas were good. Chips and salsa (we LOVED that everyone got their own little bowl for salsa), guacamole, and queso dip. A large (guac and queso) served 4 of us, with leftovers. Good basic guac (they have varieties!). The entrees. Let me tell you about the entrees. One person has some food allergies. She had the Enchiladas Verde, the plate was large and covered with food! She said they were really good. Chicken was prepared nicely, not overcooked, dry, or rubbery, and it was flavorful. Another person had steak fajita...for 2. The skillet was huge. He said the meat was very good. My husband had the Molcajete Mexicano, I had the Fiesta Molcajete. These dishes come to the table in huge lava stone bowl. The Mexicano is a variety of meats with onions, nopales, squash, etc. The best part was definitely the pork. So flavorful, cooked to perfection. The Fiesta is chicken and steak with the same vegetables. Both were topped with chihuahua cheese. I swear I did eat! The amount of food in these Molcajete's is staggering. I have lunch for tomorrow, and maybe dinner too! The food portions here were pretty epic and its a nice change that the food quality equalled the portion size. The waitstaff was very attentive. Just had the worst experience of our dining life. The first table we were sat at was wobbly and my husband's booth was more like a rocking chair. So we relocated ourselves to the table across the aisle. The restaurant serves Pepsi so we both got waters, the waiter left but I wanted to order the chorizo cheese dip but he left too quickly. I had to order as he walked by. So he came back to get our entree order. Two chicken chimichangas for me and three cheese and onion enchiladas for my hubby... And the waiter says... "You don't like to spend money, ordering water and enchiladas ..." And my husband's and my jaws were on the floor. We got up and he walked out.. Ordered the Lindo's Special to go the first time. Waited over 30 minutes, but the food and portion sizes was very good. Able to stretch into 3 meals. Dined in yesterday 11/15/15. The salsa at the table was very bland and we had to add tons of salt for any flavor. Ordered the Lindo again and my partner ordered the platter with the steak, chicken & fish. We got our food within 10 minutes. The Lindo wasn't as flavored as the first time, just ok. My partner's dish was gigantic for the price and said the steak was tasty and tender. Waited and waited for the wait staff (we never had the same person) to give us our bill. No one did so we went up to get in line to pay and a waitress told us we could pay at the bar. Our total was $32 & some change. We handed her $40 and she asked if we wanted change. We had already left the tip at the table and told her yes. She didn't look happy, closed the register and went over to the other register making us wait another 5 minutes. She came back with 7 $1 dollar bills. Food and drinks are fantastic. Service was great. My only issue was with management who wanted to quibble over their $8 discount when using the dining card. My party bought 3 drinks and 4 entrees, but the waiter put us on separate checks, so we couldn't get the discount. Really?
