Colleen positive attitude and ability to relate to my experiences has given me the confidence to use her techniques and advice in real life situations. One of the great things I'd like to highlight is how well-prepared my career counselor was diving…read moreinto the session. I was able to see that she set time aside to organize and plan the key points she wanted to go over with me, as far as getting a good understanding of my most recent interviewing experience, taking notes, and using that to guide us into the rest of the session. I really liked that she emphasized the STAR method to answer most of the behavioral questions that I wasn't really sure of, I feel like that method is really effective in shaping the best kind of responses. She mentioned a few tips that are often times forgotten; for example, sending thank you emails/letters to the employer after the interview. That was a tip I never really thought was important when it came to the application process, but I now understand why it can be helpful in making you a stronger candidate. So I would say to keep mentioning this tip to future clients. Last, I really appreciated that they took the time to research and look for example interview questions tailored to the job position that I applied to. I honestly wouldn't have thought to look at specific questions the interviewer might ask me related to recruiting roles, so I found that extremely helpful. I feel a lot better having those questions prepared for me so that I can go over them and practice them on my own time. About the cancellation/tardy policy: I would say to emphasize that with future clients when they are signing up for the career coaching package, probably in bold print or attached to the confirmation/welcoming email. If they did what I did and canceled with little to short notice, I'd say provide a friendly reminder at the beginning of the session but with a more stern and assertive tone. I feel like if you're too soft-spoken or nice, clients won't take you as seriously and may think it's not a big deal. Before actually going into the session, I would've liked a brief 1-minute overview/timeline explaining how much time we'd be spending on each component of the session to ensure we don't go over the time. For example, she can say she will spend 5 minutes asking them about their most recent interview experience and xyz. She can then also ask them if there's a component of the session they'd like to spend more time on, e.g., really going over the STAR method as opposed to the example interview questions. The last minor thing I'd include is sharing the google doc with the next client so they can physically be looking at it as well. If it might be distracting for them (or if it will take up time) then ignore this but personally, I wanted to scroll over the doc she created for me while we went over it together but screen sharing over Zoom was fine as well. Overall though, I'd say my career coach was really good at what she does in helping other young aspiring professionals. I thought our session was extremely helpful and I could only imagine what it could do for others.

I immediately felt Heather's calming and empathetic spirit the moment we started to talk. She listens and cares so deeply, and she gave me a sense of peace from our very first session. Finally, someone that gets me and cares so much - that she will beat these messages into me until even I will listen. She is a bright light in my life I know I can count on to always support me, to just "get me" and remind me of really important reminders in life. My greatest lessons from my sessions with Heather are life changers. The first is that loving myself and treating myself with kindness is the very first priority in life. The other is that everything is happening FOR me - not TO me. That no matter what happens, I can turn it into something good. She has helped me reframe the way I see things from my past and present so that they empower and not disempower me. Most recently, during this COVID19 crisis, Heather's teachings have brought back to front of mind the importance of being kind and gentle with myself when I slip into moments of fear, to comfort my inner child and to be purposeful and intentional about how I use this time. To live a life that is in alignment with my true desires, my values and how I most want to feel, I must pay attention. And to deeply appreciate the gift that it is to be alive, to see it as sacred and treat it as such. What I love about working with Heather is that she genuinely cares. There have been times where I text her with something I am going through and she is there. As a great friend would be. She has an intuition that sees me on the inside and knows how to push or remind at the exact right time where I need to tune in. I don't think I could ever find a more motivating and caring person to have by my side. I recommend if you are questioning the process or not sure, reach out to Heather and ask the questions.
