Tea boxes, fairways, greens were all green. One common issue we saw is that nobody was filling divots, so you did see quite a bit of dirt around tee off. You'd also catch a rash of divots around certain parts of each hole. Well yes, you can say that's a groundskeeper issue, that's also a golfer issue. Fill your holes. We were the first ones to tee off on a Sunday at 8:00. A.m.. it was a beautiful morning. We had a nice leisurely first nine, we ended up playing a second round and it got a bit busier towards noon. It's a smaller course so don't expect PGA quality anything. You will see a lot of cows and pastures alongside the course, just chilling. It's always nice to see wildlife. There will be ducks roaming around on the course, so be careful of our feathered friends. Of the nine holes, at least 7 are par 3. There are a couple that let you get out into driver territory. If you're expecting to work on your long game, this is not the course for you. There are only two holes that put you in driver territory, with a third if you tee up from the long box (blue). This is a great course. If you're looking for chip, fairway, or putting. And the grip on the greens changes considerably between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. the morning dew will get you. The staff were chill. They they kept everything pretty clean in the clubhouse and they worked out on the course throughout the day as well. Plenty of carts. They do have a driving range, but I didn't get a chance to make use of it. It's definitely out there. Not a tourist destination golf course, but if you're in the area or just interested in trying something different, it's worth a go. $45 gets you two rounds.

Driving range wasn't in the best condition but I'm not an avid golfer so it didn't matter too much to me. Not sure if that's how every driving range works but I wasn't able to come back at a later time to finish out the bucket. Basically wasted $8.

The balls were ok for a quick warm up but would not work well to accurately practice ball movement. The course itself has a really nice layout. They fairways were in good shape. Any of the bad lies I had were because of bad shots as opposed to poor maintenance. The greens at this course is what brings the rating down. On several of the greens the was a lot of dead spots. Of course the pins are not places near the dead spots and because the greens are large my play was rarely affected by them. The staff is incredibly friendly, being available and willing to help. Due to COVID-19 I didn't hang around inside kind but what I saw was nice. I have been fortunate to play some very nice courses. Also I work at a well rated golf course so please be mindful of this when considering my 3 star rating, which I believe to be average. The Pecan Grove Plantation is worth the trip. We played the 3rd of the 3 9hole courses. This one has obviously been updated and updated nicely. In my first review I did not mention price. Both times we played for $30 each. Being an avid golfer, the US Open sectional qualifier at Shadow Hawk was a rare treat. As this course is one of the tougher venue to get on even if your in the know. The layout is both scenic and deceiving, especially for the first visit. The course guide does a good job of laying out the distances, but not the hole shapes. Which leads to alot of guessing along with much gusto to challenge the course. A rarity in Houston is that this course has excellent yardage markers densely packed along the freeway and rough. Like most Houston courses, the greens are in rough shape here, and the driving range in worse. But the privacy, intimacy with the surrounding nature and a breathtaking layout makes this a fantastic must try course, if you can get on.
