I like Matt as a person -- compassionate, relatable, explains concepts well and thoroughly. I began…read moreseeing him when covid first hit, and I felt that my ED would become an even bigger issue. I felt uncomfortable with being encouraged to eat foods with less nutritional value so as to "desensitize" myself, told not to weigh myself every day despite my knowing myself well enough to know that seeing the scale *does* desensitize me to little ups and downs and is not one of the compulsive/obsessive eating behaviors. When I tried to push back, my concerns were listened to and discussed as valid, but ultimately explained away. Covid's phone sessions may be partially to blame: if we'd had sessions in person the effects would have been apparent. I finally successfully discontinued being a client when I got diagnosed with breast cancer a few months after first meeting with him; when they had me meet with one of the nutritionists at Dana Farber, she and literally every doctor and nurse at Dana Farber with whom I discussed my experience with Oceanside/Matt were aghast at ON's approach to nutrition. It's now been more than a year since I had a call with him, and my experience and my oncologist/et al's reactions still irk me so much that I wanted to voice here as food for thought. I'm not saying his approaches won't work for *anyone* -- I hope they do and wish they did for me-- just that I wish I'd trusted my gut and/or gotten a second opinion sooner. He's a delight and does genuinely care and connect with his clients. EDs are super tricky and ON's approach was a disastrous one for mine.

Matt was really helpful! I didn't know what to expect with nutrition counseling, but this has been…read morea great experience. He takes the time to listen to my concerns and is a total pro about identifying nutrition changes that will help. I felt that I got a lot of attention and wasn't pushed into a nutrition plan that wouldn't work for my lifestyle. I have been back a bunch of times and it's always great. I'm also super grateful that they accept my insurance! It's refreshing to receive unconditional care and consistency within a professional environment. -Amy Lynn D.
