There you can go sailing, windsurfing and kayaking or have a days relaxing fishing. Day and season tickets are available for the lakes - there are two, a large and small. The small lake has less 'traffic' on it and is a quieter days fishing. There are hiring facilities for the water sports and you can pay for lessons. We've been a few time to use the caravan and camping site located on the side of the waters edge. The pitches aren't massive but it's not bad for a weekend.There are good washing and shower facilities for all who are camping. They have a small shop but it's not got loads in for the camper, I'd recommend bringing what you need. There is also a bar but I thought it was a bit expensive. For an afternoon it's a nice day out - there is a fairly good play area, space to kick a ball, a walk round the lake etc. I think it's only about £2 to get in. Outside the park, there is the town of Market Bosworth, Shackerstone Railway, Twycross Zoo and Bosworth Battlefield. Every year they host events such as the raft race or Hinckley half mararthon.

As we only have a folding camper we made good use of the toilets in the Sainsburys in town. Possibly because of the lack of facilities the two times that we have been there have been very few children which does mean that the site is quiet except for the parakeets which are quite noisy in the mornings. Do be aware that there is quite a long narrow road approaching the campsite. Could be awkward at busy times.

None of them spoiled our weekend, and for the price, this site is a gem. The site has two fields for camping. The first includes both tents and caravans and includes power points. It also features free-range chickens, which we decided to avoid. The other field was dedicated to tents and has no electric hook ups. On the minus side: A water tap in the 'tent' field would save relatively long walks with heavy water cans. Whilst the new showers were very good and clean, the water did run cold at busy times over the May bank holiday weekend. The showers are new for 2011 and the water heating is due for an upgrade in 2012, so this problem should be short-lived. Note the old showers to the rear of he Hall still require a 50p payment in the meter. Not a problem for me, but if you're used to wet shaving, there was a lack of hot water and a mirror in front of a sink On the plus side: afternoon cream teas were served from the coffee shop on the lawn An on-site bar and coffee shop An on-site farm shop, with farm shop prices, but the quality to go with it 5 minute walk to the Kings Arms, Wing Within a stones throw of Rutland Water Free wi-fi available in the vicinity of the hall well priced campsite and friendly staff Overall, I would recommend this site to a friend, especially if you're an outdoor type looking to explore Rutland Water and the surrounding countryside. What a lovely park to host a 5k race. It features hundreds of acres of maintained woodland…read moreinterspersed with fields and streams, making for a great trail run experience. It's easy to get lost even with a well-marked race route! A little-known bit of history about the park is that the Georgian hunting lodge was used as a POW camp for German officers and was heavily bugged. The British were able to learn all the Nazi plans, but were unable to act on many of them due to the various levels of military intelligence involved, and subsequently the Cold War. It was as important as Bletchley but receives none of the prestige as it was all ordinary translation and not high-tech codebreaking. I'd really love to go go back and try the Go Ape high ropes course - looks a blast but we were exhausted from the race!

This is a beautiful park where you can enjoy a walk, run, picnics or photography. It's very…read morepeaceful and (I believe) free! There is a small snack stand to grab a coffee or a treat before your activity. Serene is the best word I think to describe the park. You can see the Queen's swans and dogs are allowed now, but I don't believe they need a leash the entire time. Great scenic spots for photos. I really enjoyed my visit to Virginia Water.

And, you won't believe that this is part of the "Greater London." Just a quick train ride away for a day trip. It is a great hiking place and paradise for photographers. The only slightly annoying issue is there are no toilets. At all. More an issue for girls than guys.
