Well, I have now discovered one of the worst parts of England. That is pretty much because Milton Keynes was a planned suburb, and honestly, it comes across pretty horrid. Anyway, the station really isn't all that much to consider, though it does offer a pretty decent interchange. However, It's definitely not a place I would recommend. read more

The Milton Keynes Central train station is served by Virgin Trains inter-city services and by London Midland local services. This station is very easy to navigate with a whole flock of taxis waiting outside ready to take you where you need to go. They also have a ton of bus stops here for travel. Outside the station are all sorts of convenience stores, hotels and there is even a skateboarding park just about a block away. It's very convenient to walk to from my company apartment (about a 15 minute walk) so was super convenient during my time in MK to get to London. read more

I called at Milton Keynes Central on my trip down from Manchester, heading towards Wembley and in all honesty I rather wish I wouldn't due to the service provided by London Midland, where my train which was supposed to go into Wembley drove past the station on purpose, meaning I could have got to my destination a lot quicker if I wouldn't have called at MIlton Keynes, while in the first class cabin on Virgin Trains. I'm not going to mark the station down for that, even though this station is also owned by London Midland as it would be unfair and that's a seperate review and a seperate complaint altogether. Milton Keynes Central is quite a busy central, serving over 6 million people per year to destinations such as Manchester, London and Wembley, with that trio all involved on my St George's Day return trip but it also serves the likes of Watford, Coventry and Birmingham with Virgin Trains and London Midland running most of the services through here, with Southern also running a few mainly towards Croydon and Clapham Junction. There isn't really many shops or anything in the station, other than a small cafe and toilets, however I think there is a shopping centre nearby but as I didn't leave the station, or even Platform 1 with both of my trains going from there, I can't comment too much further than that. There was working lifts in the station, but as I recall the lift going around Platform 4 is out of order and has been for a while. The station staff however seemed a little rude and unhelpful, and it took a long time to get a conclusion with them, there isn't many facilities in the station or even enough information to know where you're going and other trains etc, luckily I had my National Rail app to know where my train would arrive and depart from etc. Due to all information considered, this is a really poor station and it isn't fit to serve over 6 million people a year. which is only slightly under what Manchester Victoria serves which has 2 coffee shops including a Starbucks, some sort of bar and a newsagents or two, so for now I sadly feel this station deserves a single one star and I certainly won't be using it again on a future trip to Wembley (If hopefully Manchester City make it there again soon) read more

I'll try to say something different about the station and focus on car parking should you need some help with that. The cheapest car parks within a ten-minute walk are the ones behind Richer Sounds and near Argos (you need to walk past the Ice Rink) which are free. The one behind Richer Sounds only has around 20 free spaces though and go quickly. If you're arriving around or after 8.30am then the spaces at the Hockey Stadium that are opposite Abbey cost 25p per hour so a day's parking would cost a maximum of £2.50 (the payment takes you up to 6pm, after that it's free). The remaining spaces around the Hockey Stadium, those outside the front of the station and in the smallish area of spaces just passed the multi storey car park are a fixed daily rate of £5. Finally, there's a multi storey car park to the right of the station as you're facing it. To reach it you need to effectively drive round the back of the station (it's sign posted so it shouldn't be a problem). It currently costs £7 to park in there but it's worth it if you're not going to be returning until late in the evening/night and don't want to walk too far. There's a manned booth, you need to stop alongside and hand over your money (best to have the cash ready). There is a machine just inside the entrance that's supposed to take cards but it rejected mine the one time I tried to use it (I have a cashback credit card so it would have been useful if it worked!). read more

Seems like a good train station, and although I was passing through only very briefly, I caught a quick glimpse of things that make me happy. A taxi rank directly outside the main entrance. Very handy. A Marks & Spencer Simply Food. If I had my way, it would be law that there was one of these at every train station and airport in the UK. There's also a Costa Coffee, and I'm sure I saw some sort of juice bar place. Boom - everything I need for sustenance right there! Next time I'm here, I will be sure to spend more time checking the place out. read more

Had to travel to Milton Keynes twice this week from London. The station is a very good standard with four platforms. There are a number of coffee shops there with the Costa, AMT to name a few. The train information is good and there is a friendly atmosphere with staff. The location of the station is good for getting into the business sector of the town and there is a very efficient taxi rank. I did not have to queue for very long to get a taxi. The train was very busy each morning with business commuters but it did not take long to get through the ticket machines and off to work. read more

Personally I find the Milton Keynes railway station overpriced and cold in the winter. They are doing a lot to liven the place up and a few more shops and bars are opening up nearby, which I think will be good. It's not a place you want to spend a long time in, but if you're early for a train, or are waiting for your lift, there are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or just have a look around. There is a shop inside and outside there is a subway and M&S food. It's an ok place, but I would not visit there especially! read more

Milton keynes station i believe is a very good train station, its clean and very easy to navigate your way round and there are a few train services running in and out of this station from virgin to london midland. They have lifts and staff help with luggage ect. Inside the station you can buy your tickets over the counter or through a machine, they also have a little shop where you can buy sandwhiches, snacks, drinks ect and also a coffee shop and has plenty of pay phones. Outside the station is pretty pleasent there is a big green area where most people sit to eat their lunches. Outside you can get coaches, buses or taxi's to your next destination and its all right outside the train station doors. read more

I have spent many a happy hour at this bookshop since it has opened. They have a wonderful selection of books, magazines, dvd's, cd's, kids activities and toys and there's almost always a % percentage off voucher that you can use. There's a relaxing coffee shop upstairs with comfortable chairs and squishy sofas. Ample parking available and it is wheelchair friendly. read more

This is a really large book store, it's got a coffee shop upstairs as well which is quite a nice touch (except for my hubby who hates the smell of coffee so hates this shop bless him!). They have a really excellent variety of books catering to all sorts of styles and tastes, but I do find that for such a large store they've managed their layout really quite poorly. I use a wheelchair and getting it round some of the gaps is quite difficult in here. Also they haven't really thought about the tills and they're too high with no low point for paying from this height which is a shame. Their prices aren't particularly cheap either, most books seem to sell at their RRP which to be honest doesn't seem to be the norm these days. read more

A large bookstore with a Paperchase concession inside - gets my vote :) Okay, so the books aren't cheap - well, they are RRP but that's expensive these days when we are all so used to Amazon. However there is nothing nicer than just browsing in a real book shop, something the internet can't give you. I have been known to go and spend an hour or so just browsing, with some time spent in Starbucks upstairs. So, why only 4 stars? Parking. There is rarely enough and I have had to turn around and go home on some occasions. read more

Architectural spendour it does not have but this modern station is well designed and effiicient with all facilities. A little tip I have learned is that the taxis in the rank outside are significantly more expensive that cabs that you telephone and book. Use Qype to find taxi firms and book them to save quite a lot of money, even though they are often the same cars and the same firms! read more

This station always seems to be under construction every time I have visited. I will say, however, that the trains always seem to be running on time with minimal delays when I've had to travel through the UK from this station. The new layout of the drop off area of the terminal seems to lend to an easier experience getting in and out quickly. read more

The station itself is pretty clean which is appreciated but it really lack amenities. The food options all suck. Also, why are train tickets so expensive in England!? It cost me 60 pounds during offpeak times to take a train to Manchester. Peak times was about 90 pounds! Saying I had sticker shock was an understatement! read more

This place still has a way to go but new shops and food places is improving it. Now they just have to sort out the parking but I guess it's as good as any station. PArking is massively expensive which is my biggest gripe but it's well services by buses so can't really complain. read more

There's not really much to this station, and I don't really expect there to be. Like most railway stations, it's quite grey and bleak and properly in need of some modernisation. It is always clean and serves its purpose, ie. getting me on a train in a simple and straight forward manner. The staff are usually friendly and will look to get me the best deals for my trips. There is a small newsagents as well as a couple of cafes and a Marks and Spencers nearby. This is all you really want from a train station as it's not somewhere you're going to be spending a lot of time at. read more

Fantastic bookshop situated on the north side of MK great location with ample parking spaces. They have a got a quite staggeringly huge range of books that are well detailed and lots of places to sit and peruse them at your leisure. They also sell magazines, and DVD's and Border's has a coffee shop upstairs. read more

I really enjoy visiting this shop. They have a large selection of books, especially travel books so if you are planning a holiday they have a good choice of guides. I love paperchase and there is a reasonably sized concession at the back of the shop. They do great wrapping paper, diaries and cards among other things. There is a fab starbucks upstairs too. You definitely should try the Chai Latte - it's the best drink and never fails to perk me up! Their sandwiches are good too, especially the toasted panninis. They do take a while for them to be heated up/toasted but it's worth it! Definitely worth a trip to this place on a lunchtime for a snack and to get a birthday present, card and wrapping paper all in one shop! read more
