When we first spoke on the phone, she made it very clear that the company she was staffing for wanted to move very quickly in the hiring process. She wanted to setup an zoom meeting that day which I was unable to do since I was at work but rearranged my schedule to do the zoom meeting the next morning. I misunderstood this meeting to be an interview. It was not. Nicole told me the meeting was to "make sure I had adequate internet access and that I looked presentable." Why this is a part of the vetting process, I have no idea. Anyway, the call concluded with her saying I'd be a great fit and she would submit me for an interview to company, and asked me availability over the next couple of days because again, the company wanted to move quick in the hiring process. Great! 4 days pass and I hear nothing from Nicole so I sent her an email asking for an update. She replied saying the hiring manager was on vacation and they were just getting caught up. Completely contradicting what she emphasized earlier about how fast this process was going to happen. She told me she would keep me updated. Okay. The next I received a generic email from Otterbase saying I was no longer being considered for the position. I sent Nicole an email asking for some feedback as to why I was no longer being considered. She didn't reply to my email but rather sent me a text message, which I found odd. She said the company decided to go in a different direction. I asked her if she could be more specific and she didn't respond. The information Nicole provided to me throughout the process was misleading and incorrect. In addition to that, her communication was sub-par to say the least. I had to continuously reach out to her to find out what was going on. If you choose to use Otterbase to staff your company or find you employment, don't expect much help.

Used to love coming here to get work done. This was like a business center. But more and more cuts,…read morehard for me to think of it as anything else but when people are coming to file unemployment. Before there was more work shops offered. I could come in and get a cup of coffee chat with the workers maybe sign up for a WS and get some worked done. Now the vibe is not a "like to be here" it is a get in get out vibe. Don't get me wrong I don't liger. But was nice to know the workers. One of the workers told me the last time she gave me a cup of coffee she got in trouble. REALLY! Has life gotten so controlling that sharing coffee with the people you are getting grants and funding for is not allowed. Then you tell someone they did wrong by helping me to a cup of COFFEE. Gosh times have changed and so has the warmth at Michigan Works. Treat your employees better regardless of what cuts you keep making.
