The worst place in Melbourne for breast cancer treatment. Ridiculous pathology scans ordered before…read moreany surgery that are unnecessary and overpriced. Arrogant and money hungry medical specialists making millions by giving sub standard medical care to vulnerable women. No 'health team approach' just 'doctor know's best' and the brush off when you ask questions. No access to qualified nursing staff, just secretaries called 'the doctors nurse' and who openly refer to themselves as 'stupid'. No pre chemo education what so ever. No discussion of cancer treatment causing infertility to young women who have not had children or referral to IVF treatment prior to chemo. No discussion of treatments causing early menopause and assistance with side effects like osteoporosis, hot flushes, sexual dysfunction. No symptom management when going through chemotherapy, phone calls to specialists asking for anti nausea medication are never returned. No health assessments during chemo what so ever. Patients never reweighed before each subsequent dose no matter how dramatic their weigh change is. No recording of chemo dose lifetime accumulative dosage to prevent risk of serious cardiac disease. Chemo single checked by unqualified nurses at Mercy Hospital, which is just a tiny private surgical based hospital with no oncology unit at all. No follow up care after treatment what so ever. If you want to end up broke, sick, a victim of 'over servicing' and confused from lack of education and care, go here. A private company that trades under the name of a Catholic network but is in fact run by the same doctors who work in this clinic and has no relation to the St Vincent's and Mercy network. This clinic was reported to the Health Department for dangerous and substandard health care in 2008. The worst part is that some of the specialists who work in this private clinic, also work in large public hospitals, where they give top quality and safe care to public patients, for free so they know what 'should' happen. These people took $10.000 from me in 2007, gave me medical treatment that was way below current Best Practice Clinical Guidelines. When I compared my treatment to public standards and realised the dramatic gaps between the two, my questions to doctors were dismissed in an arrogant and rude manner. My suggestion is to go to a large public hospital if you have cancer, and get safe, accountable treatment that is free.

I work in the medical profession. I have moved around a lot over the years so I have seen lots of…read moredoctors and can make some good comparisons. I have been going here for about 6 years so I have seen a few doctors at this practice. I prefer to stick with one when possible but sometimes schedules and urgent issues don't allow that. The doctors (Dr Oh, Dr Khoo, Dr Civitico) I have seen are all very good. They provide thoroughness and consistency that you just don't get at the big commercial chain practices. They do charge above the Medicare fee and ask you to pay the entire fee up front but they do forward the details to Medicare on your behalf for reimbursement directly from medicare for the standard amount. They have an onsite collection centre for HealthScope pathology so you can one stop shop if needed.

Until I actually thought about writing this review I'll be honest and say I never really gave the…read morecalibre of my doctor and her surgery much thought. I mean, she's fantastic and I happily recommend her to people, but can you really get excited about a medical clinic? On reflection though, I found that it's possible to think about your experiences in that place to date and realise you have very little to fault. I see two doctors at this clinic - Dr Trish Civitico and Dr Graeme Edwards. Both are great! Whilst Collins Place does bulk bill, a regular appointment will still need you to pay a certain amount over and above that. After your Medicare rebate, it works out to be about $15. They do however bulk bill vaccinations and the full cost is covered. I started going to CPMC when I worked across the road... and whilst I no longer work there, I still make the trip into the city because the experience here is consistently great... and when you're sick, you want consistency and predictability, right?
