Just down the road from our hotel in Queensferry, my hubs and I came across this pub when out window shopping. With it's red exterior and christmas lights strung outside, it's exactly the kind of pub we were hoping to find on our trip. We ordered from the bartender who was down to earth and welcoming. Not only was this place filled with a few locals, but other travelers were stopping in for dinner as well. My hubs and I each opted to try their Tuesday night special, a burger and beer for about £10. I had my burger coated in pepperjack cheese, and the bun was the toasted perfectly. It was super good! It's a downright relaxed and cozy pub in a charming small town. It's a must go to in my book!

As I was strolling down High Street in South Queensferry; I came across this handsome red façade pub which combined with my appetite did the trick of enticing me in. To cut to the chase, I had a Steak and Ale Pie, washed down with an Erdinger alcohol-free wheat beer. Full marks for the tasty and abundant pie, with a scrumptious thick ale sauce and the large rigged chips! The barman was very polite and provided a professional down to earth service, as he was the only one serving all patrons on that early afternoon. Pub interiors were the classical & genuine stone and wood which make it very welcoming and cosy. WiFi is available too... so, if you are out and about South Queensferry; you know where to go.

It was pub "comfort" food, but it was yummy and this place is an authentic public house. We had toasties (toasted sliced loaf bread, made for toasting). I had coronation Chicken (which we would call curry chicken salad in the states) It was rich and gooey, and i cherished each bite. There was also a dollop of slaw was super rich and eggy. I liked it very much. The place had patina in every corner, including two Americans, a german family with hiking gear and the rest locals. It makes for a good stop in South Queensferry.

The Ferry Tap is a traditional pub in old fashioned decor. It's definitely a tourist pub (or at least a tourist welcome pub), being so central to South Queensferry, but not being in the middle of Edinburgh and still essentially a town pub, it still pulls in the locals. I found all the staff here were very friendly but for some reason the rest of the clientele were a bit grumpy. It might have just been the awful weather outside so I'll try not to let that cloud my judgement too much. The Ferry Tap has a great selection of ales (it does sell itself as an ale house) and offers some really nice traditional pub food for less than you'd often pay in central Edinburgh. Haddock or scampi will cost you around £6.95. In general expect to pay between £6 and £7. They also serve some more light bites, like paninis and baked potatoes. A nice pub with good ale and good food. I will be revisiting and hoping everyone won't be quite so grumpy.

The room itself was nice, clean, and comfortable. You need to register your vehicle if you park in their car park. Their restaurant and bar and great. I had the steak with peppercorn sauce and it was tasty. They offered local brews and scotch. You need to make a reservation with the restaurant as it can get full quickly. The room itself is more noisy as it is closer to the tracks. I wouldn't stay here again due to temperature, unable to keep windows open, no AC, and how loud the railway is. But it was cute.

From the outside it looks quite traditional and quite small, however looks can be deceiving. The main bar is quite large and has an extensive bar. It has a good selection of ales, including Deuchers, so I was very chuffed with that. The bar has a good amount of wooden tables, suitable for groups during lunches and dinners. The exterior is quite traditional and at times the bar, due to its size partly, does feel quite cold at times. The food on offer is mostly your normal pub group food and is not that expensive, but not that cheap. Defiantly worth a try if your in the area.
