Hidden gem! If you're looking for a place to have a great meal with family and/or friend with traditional plates from Mexico, this is the place. By far the best tasting breakfast/lunch area and it doesn't break the bank. The staff were super friendly. The only draw back are for friends or family who can't read Spanish, but small hiccup a little translate function can help with Definitely looking to plan another day here, if you're here Sunday, recommend to stop in before 12 pm as it gets jammed pack.

This menudo "went off" and by that i mean it "was delicious." Next time I'll "upsize the cup" in favor of a "big ol bowl" instead

This restaurant used to be close to my previous home and every time I've come here, the food and service has always been great. Upon arrival, the hostess took me to a table but the table wasn't ready. She immediately called upon someone who came within the minute to clean everything up. I then sat down and the menus were brought to me before my wife sat down. Fast service for a 3/4th packed restaurant. Our drink were brought out fast. I ordered chorizo, potato, and egg breakfast with refried beans and a side of potatoes. My wife just had a potato and egg taco. My plate is on the menu but you can ask for things that are not part of the plate and make your own, like my side of extra potatoes. The food was excellent. The service was great.

Carne guisada and fajitas tasted like expired meat. Notifed the waiter and asked if they found it exchange it. They said too bad so sad we still have to pay for this plate and the replacement. Don't eat here the food is terrible and the wait staff is rude. The food is nasty I would never come here again.

Service: I do have to say it was a little weird how our server kept calling my mother "mamasita" and my little brother "papasito". Aside from this little issue she was very attentive by constantly checking if we needed anything. I was surprise since they had a full house and still provided much better service than other places. Food: I had the "Huevos divorciados" which were great! It was a lot of food and very tasty. The sauces weren't to hot but just gave it enough of that spicy taste to make your meal that much better. The only complain I would have is with the beans since they did not have a homemade taste but instead had more of "canned beans" taste. Lastly, the cheesy "migas" were a great complement to the meal. I like to think of this place as our own Mexican "IHOP" and I totally recommend it.

Best Mexican Breakfast in The Valley! The tortillas homemade they're huge and really good. The best chilaquiles that I ever had, well at least not in The Valley. The service excellent and good price. Highly recommended!

First time here. Food was good, not great. Menu says breakfast all day but you have to pay $1.00 extra for it. Also I wanted some pancakes and they don't serve them after 11:00am. WHAT? If you're going to serve breakfast all day it should be the same price and every item needs to be available. I ordered the Pepe's Combo plate, which consists of fajita and chicken. Plate was fulfilling but lacked flavor. Fajita and chicken didn't taste freshly made. Service was excellent. It's ok but needs attention to detail.

Fernando's Restaurant is one of the better Mexican restaurants in the McAllen/Pharr area. The food is excellent and the staff is by far one of the friendliest and best service wise around. You can't go wrong with Fernando's. The coffee is nice and strong too.

Excellent customer service! We were here twice for breakfast. Maybe lunch is better, but my breakfast would have been better served wrapped in foil paper from Stripes. First day: I had migas with chorizo and I added "yellow" cheese. Chorizo was lacking and I couldn't taste it. Beans were thin but flavored like abuela used to make them (lard?). My hubby had a plate with three eggs, ham, bacon, and sliced potatoes. He loved it. Second day: I had barbacoa with eggs, and beans. Barbacoa was dry overly reheated, further drying parts of it and making it taste like beef jerky ($9.25 for the plate). I've had better from Stripes. Sad face. My hubby had huevos rancheros. Again, he loved it. Pros: coffee was hot and flowing, my hubby's tea was cold and never empty, but was flavorless and not sweet enough. Tomorrow, we try a different breakfast place.

With no reservation, I was asked to kindly take a seat in the small waiting area to clear a table. I was instantly greeted with a friendly smile and felt welcomed. I was seated within 5 minutes. I had a late lunch and wasn't super hungry. I couldn't pass up the refried beans and chips since they were wafting in my vicinity, no regrets though, the chips were on the lighter side (not super hard like a tostada) and crispy and you could taste the manteca in the beans which made me smile. Según, I had no intention on eating but I couldn't pass up the aguachile as it came to my table. Twas delightful! The only regret I had at that point was not bringing my appetite. Onto the drinks. Wanted to start off "light" and the Paloma was perfect and refreshing. Not too much on the squirt side, not amargoso (bitter) and the right amount of tequila. During the night they abruptly announced that they were running a 2 for 1 shot special along with LMFAO's "Shots" song and you almost feel obliged to order (marketing genius). I was feeling adventurous and decided not to ask what each shot entailed, but rather to go based off the name. I went with the Perla Negra and for the presentation itself it was worth ordering. All in all, this place is a MUST for your Friday night warm up. Como dice terminator: I'll be back.

Waiter came and took our orders for drinks and we all started making our selections for food. The chips and salsa they bring out complementary are so good. We did have to wait because they were making a fresh batch but it was worth the wait. We all had a round of drinks and then put in our order for food and it was about 7pm already. Our waiter then came up to the table and asked us if we would mind moving because they had a reservation at 8pm for the area that they chose to sit us in. We were kind of annoyed by that because we had called the day before to make our reservations. We said I guess thinking it was going to be close to 8 that they would move us. Nope about 5-10 mins passed and he came by and asked us if we would mind moving already before our food came out. Considering that again we had a reservation and they knew it was a large party they should have blocked out more than just 2 hrs for us to be there. We moved and the very least they could have done for us is offer a free dessert on the house for the table but they didn't. Now I ordered the flautas which were served on a bead of beans. The menu said shredded chicken but we were told they didn't have chicken they only had beef so I ordered it. The flautes were lacking flavor and probably could have been saved by adding salt to them and the beans but they don't have that at any of the table. I did try some of my friends chicharrones and those were really good. We left around 8:15-8:20 and there was no one that showed up where we were originally sitting... so we could have just stayed where they originally sat us. We left feeling very annoyed.
