I recently made an appointment to get my haircut at Dtox while visiting Barcelona for a friend's…read morewedding. I specifically chose this salon because of all the other reviews mentioning that the staff spoke English. On the day of my appointment I called to confirm and the person who answered the phone didn't speak English and was incredibly unhelpful. I kept trying to tell him my name and the time of my appointment and he kept responding that no, I didn't have appointment. After about 30 seconds, he hung up on me. I tried calling back several times but he must have taken the phone off the hook because the line was busy. At this point, I was desperate - my hair was a mess and it was a few hours to the wedding. I took a taxi over to the salon and buzzed several times to be let in. The same guy (I assume the same person who answered the phone) didn't want to let me up. I finally got into the building and made it up the salon. When I answered the door I showed him the email confirming my appointment to which he said that the stylist hadn't come in that day, I believe because she was either sick or had to go out of town (the whole conversation was him talking in Spanish and me responding in English). It was already noon and I saw when I made the appointment online that she had other people booked before me, so it wasn't like I was showing up as the first customer of the day. So despite having my contact info AND the fact that I called to confirm no one ever bothered to tell me she wasn't coming in. Plus it was like they were trying to hide because they screwed up - hanging up on me and then not letting me into the building. The whole thing was a nightmare with the worst possible timing and made me almost miss the wedding. Regardless of the language barrier it was the definition of bad customer service.

It was clean and intimate, everyone there was really chill and the clients all seemed to know and love their regular stylists. My stylist was Carolina. I showed her pictures and described what I wanted but ultimately just trusted her to do what she thought would look best with my face shape. Miguel completely reformed my hair, took off a lot of weight, and reworked my part from center to side. He built in face framing but natural layers, and got the curls and waves to form in place nicely. He also showed me how to maintain my haircut with very little work. Perfect! The barber acknowledged and as soon as the clippers turned on he took it to the side of my head I just told him to stay away from. Additionally I asked for a fade 1 1/2 to 0 and he was done within 10 min with a half ass job of a cut. Ive never had a barber take less than 30 min on my cut. I walked out of there fuming. They didn't require a payment because I was clearly unsatisfied. If you want attention to detail do not come here.

My daughter went first, and she asked for a short asymmetrical cut. I went for a standard medium-length male cut. Our stylists did a fantastic job, and we looked great leaving the salon. They both took the time that they needed to attend to every detail. Now, the true measure of a hair style isn't what it looks like the day you get it; it's how it looks a few weeks later. I'm happy to report that, for both of us, the results have been amazing. It's almost as if they knew how these styles would grow out, because they've continued to look good, even four weeks later. I came with my sister. We were visiting from Denmark and decided to freshen up our hair as part of…read moreour vacation. When I came I had pixie cut with top length bleached and the rest was my natural dark blonde. I discussed the choice of hair colour with the only person who could speak English and she was translating to the rest of her colleagues. They suggested to bleach my hair completely for even colour effect. I agreed and so they proceeded. They applied bleach heavily on my hair and scalp and to my surprise left it on for about hour and half. I wasn't informed how long I was supposed to have it on my head or anything. They simply sometimes came and checked the processing so I trusted them as professionals. After about 2h they finally decided to wash it off and afterwards shampooed my hair. I was not told anything they were doing but they mentioned toning before so that's what I thought they were doing. Much to my surprise they applied bleach again. Left for some time (I have no idea how long I was not told anything) and came back to wash my hair again. Applied bleach again. This repeated for around 3-4 times. I was not told anything. Afterwards they washed it off, shampooed my hair again and I don't recall them applying any conditioning treatment or anything of that sort. I got up from the chair and freaked out at the look of my hair in the mirror. It was yellow, incredibly, badly looking yellow. I thought they would maybe finally tone my hair but they started blow drying it instead. I told them I don't like the yellow at all. They tried to convince me it's not yellow despite of me hearing them speaking in Spanish mentioning yellow over and over again. After I expressed my dislike for the chicken yellow hair they put me in the chair with the sink again. Again I wasn't told what they were doing at all. They informed me afterwards they applied bleach again! They left me there until I started complaining because it was burning my scalp. At last they washed it off and applied silver shampoo or something of that sort about three times on my head. Blow drying followed and yet again, my hair was yellow. As the hair dried my scalp felt incredibly sore and dry. I felt like my entire face was pulled backwards and my hair felt awfully dry and paper like. I complained about it but they said it was normal and also said my hair is healthy because they used ola - plex. Now, I know that's supposed to somewhat protect your hair but my hair didn't feel healthy at all! It was like bad bad bad dry grass or whatever. They did not listen to my complains claiming everything is perfect. Behind my back they were talking in Spanish about how it will look good on the photos on their website once they apply filters. I left feeling regretful and uncomfortable. After few minutes of just walking my scalp became unbearably sore. It was painful, hot, burning and just the worst experience. We came back and all they suggested was applying another shampoo!!! We refused and asked them politely to return my money as I paid 135€ for basically burning my scalp and hair. They refused and said the job is well done. Overall... The worst experience ever. Spent almost 5 hours in there and left with PTSD and burns. This experience will make me not go to any hair salon for very long time. The photos are from day later after I applied heavy amount of argan oil and conditioner in other to hydrate whatever was left from my hair.
