The gin selection is exceptional and there's always a gin of the week, which is a great opportunity to try a gin you may not have encountered before. Society also now makes their own tonic syrup in house, and I believe they're the first place in Hobart to be doing that. ALL THE KUDOS! It's such a special sort of offering and shows how much they care about their drinks. Also back to gin again, Society do gin tasting platters... correct. Half nips of four different gins (be it a Tasmanian platter, an Australian platter or a tailored platter) with a splash of tonic and a garnish to suit each different gin. A really fun way to try a few different variations in one sitting, because gins can be so different! I LOVE GIN! Ok. Let's talk about the Den. If that scent never leaves, it will be too soon. I would go to the Den just to take a nice big deep breath into my lungs. What scares me is that the Den is on the Salamanca strip, and the Salamanca strip is for tourists and people who aren't really My Kind of People, so I can love the Den all I like but if the people in there are horrible, what's the point? Maybe I'm jumping the gun here. It's all the way down the far end. Maybe I'll be safe? I just get anxious about these kind of things. Here's what I can also say for certain: the cocktails are unique and bangin', and the food is absolutely delicious. The loaded fries are so, so good, and the banana spring rolls for dessert are selfishly unshareable. Give your spring rolls to nobody. Eat them all yourself. No sharesies. Get your own. Everything's at Salamanca prices but something has to pay for that fitout. Five stars if you turn the thumping Salamanca music volume down a bit so my friends and I can actually hold a conversation.
