This was an unexpected find, and a delicious one too. Presentation was great, and flavors on point,…read moreand the view was the cherry-on-top. Portion sizing was a little small for the price, but we didn't leave unhappy. The outside dining is dog-friendly and so is the north end of the beach. Would revisit.

Despite not having a reservation, we snuck in on a busy Sunday morning and got the last seat inside. Was expecting the usual Australian cafe brunch food, but that not exactly what you get here... The menu is light on the typical brunch fare of eggs, bacon and hash browns and smashed a o and instead have lots of things like beef salad, seafood plates, and Vietnamese salads. Even though I'm not on a strict keto diet, I ordered the keto brekky that had eggs, halloumi, bacon and spiced avo. Nice. Coffee was great: strong, smooth and the right temperature. The fish and chips ordered by the fam were ENORMOUS. 3 large pieces of actual fish, in a light, crunchy batter and a small cup of chips. It's the inverse of the usual fish and chips where you get a ton of chip and a measly piece of sad greasy fish. Service was excellent, despite it being very bi There's no kids menu though- keep that in mind if you're going with the kidlets. There isn't a lot for them besides a giant size fish and chips. If you have 2 kids, they could probably share one! It's not cheap, but given the location and

I tend to avoid that corner of…read moreHobart, because it's touristy and gross, but it's so nice to know that somewhere like Society exists down there and I can take refuge there. The gin selection is exceptional and there's always a gin of the week, which is a great opportunity to try a gin you may not have encountered before. Society also now makes their own tonic syrup in house, and I believe they're the first place in Hobart to be doing that. ALL THE KUDOS! It's such a special sort of offering and shows how much they care about their drinks. Also back to gin again, Society do gin tasting platters... correct. Half nips of four different gins (be it a Tasmanian platter, an Australian platter or a tailored platter) with a splash of tonic and a garnish to suit each different gin. A really fun way to try a few different variations in one sitting, because gins can be so different! I LOVE GIN! There are always plenty of events happening at Society too, all posted on their facebook, from regular weekly events like Tapas Tuesday to one-off events like fundraiser dinners and spirit masterclasses.

This Thursday was raclette night and they take bookings for the few tables they have for a 6pm or 8pm seating - we booked 8pm but decided to sit on one of the comfy couches. The raclette was delicious and a generous portion of melted and crispy raclette cheese and prosciutto over potatoes with a bit of salad for $15. There is a huge selection of spirits though we had a nice bottle of Cabernet which was also good value.
