Overall, my experience at Fern Life Center has been very positive. Initially I met with Dr. Keesha Ewers and then launched into a plan to improve my overall health (I suffer from persistent gut issues as well as thyroid/metabolism issues). The addition of Hydrotherapy to my plan has been excellent, as it seems to have helped address some of my long-standing gut issues. Kendyl has been terrific and makes one feel totally comfortable in what could be an awkward environment. I've met with Kerri, their Nutritionist a few times, and she is very helpful in providing a plan and tips for making it through a detox or other dietary changes. I recently went on vacation, so we put together a plan, and she provided snack tips to take on the plane, which was tremendously helpful. They also have a mental health counselor one can meet with to discuss issues related to food or other issues. Areas of improvement would be the Facebook group they set up for each individual who signs on for this more comprehensive health program. I was really seeking to interact with others going through similar things. Although Dr. Keesha posts interesting videos and articles on there, it wasn't exactly what I anticipated or had been told it would be. Also, the infrared sauna is something I've desperately wanted to use, but with limited business hours (they are closed on Fridays), and they close by 5 or 6 pm daily, it makes getting there for that purpose quite difficult, so I haven't been able to use it in the four months or so that I've been going there. Theirs is a comprehensive approach to holistic care--mind and body. It is a bit expensive, but for me personally, I can literally pay now or I can end up paying for poor health later. That wasn't even a choice in my mind. I'm investing in my good health, and that is worth everything. read more

It's funny that I find myself writing this review three years after my experience. I was in such a bad way that my only goal was figuring out how to help myself. Now that I have found ways to improve my situation, I sometimes still think about exposing the scam that is offered by Dr Keesha. So this is my first piece of exposing her scam. I sent my genetic information and we were set up for a video call. She was not making herself visible on the video call and when I asked her to, she clicked herself on for a second so I could see her face and then clicked herself off. I think a face-to-face discussion is warranted for $500. Her only recommendations for me was thousands of dollars worth of supplements from her brand. And celery juice lol. There was no trying to help me deal with the things that she says actually cause autoimmune conditions like adverse childhood experiences and trauma. I think I'm pretty good at sensing where a person is coming from, and I felt like she was coming from a place of wanting money not actually caring about me. I felt judged and unimportant and most of all like I had wasted my $500. I had purchased her book and started reading it (definitely didn't bother to finish it ) and I heard the way she is addressing the reader like girlfriend, I can help you, look I fixed my own problem, like she's a woman and she understands and that's why she can help you. It's all about targeting a particular part of the market. Women with auto immune diseases and money well, you tricked me once Doc but you're not gonna trick me again. honestly if anyone's reading this and you're looking for care that actually works. I suggest finding a good homeopath don't waste your time with this money Monger she puts out such a bright, shiny façade, but underneath it is lack of care and greed. I follow some creators who expose medical scammers, and I'm definitely gonna suggest this topic to one of them because obviously I'm not the only person who has had a really negative experience with Dr. Keesha. read more

At the start of August I got in touch with Keesha Ewers organisation. I was sent the longest questionnaire I have ever seen in my life. I completed it. I was concerned with how heavily it emphasised physical treatments, such as supplements, as I've come to understand that the real root cause of autoimmune disease, and many other psychosomatic complaints, is emotional trauma, unresolved emotional pain etc. And this was what I was coming to Keesha Ewers for. However I submitted the questionnaire, led to believe at the next stage I would speak with Dr Ewers. Instead it was a person named Audrey who was very pleasant but did not seem that familiar with the information I had included in the questionnaire and seemed intent on foisting a package, one-size-fits-all, extremely expensive DNA based model of treatment on me. I had to use all my assertiveness and intuition to steer the direction away from this and asked if I could, instead, book an appointment with Dr Ewers herself; I wanted HER input, not some employee who seemed not much more than (a very pleasant) secretary before I embarked on a costly course of (dubious) treatment. I then entered a period in which I periodically sent emails to further representatives of her, asking for an update. I was told Dr Ewers was 'on retreat'. I waited. Months went by. The last communication I received, on 15th September, was from another person who told me, I'm quoting: 'as you can imagine [Dr Ewers] has many many emails and things do fall through the cracks, it's not unusual to have to circle back around. I myself miss emails on occasion, it's just part of the electronic age we live and things do happen...Let me circle it back around to her specifically.' It's now 12th November. I think I don't need to say anymore. Would you want to deal with this organisation? I am concerned that it is actually nothing more than a money-making machine which is extremely concerning considering the image that Dr Ewers adopts online. I have read other reviews from disgusted clients detailing how they were persuaded to buy large packages of medications that were not tailor-made, ill-advised, and extremely expensive and that they rarely, if ever, could get in touch with the elusive 'Dr' Ewers. This aside, the MASSIVE failure in communication I encountered at the very first stage of dealing with this organisation was enough to forestall me. And thank god it did. read more

I read the online reviews about Fern Life Center and Ewers. I read that Fern Life Center/Ewers has a pretty aggressive marketing agenda that makes her money and meets some people's needs but other people's needs it does not. I listened to my friends advice (One friend very much liked her care and felt helped. One friend felt her wallet was siphoned and felt unheard and un-helped because her needs did not fit within the marketing machine.) I checked all of Ewer's academic credentials, and learned that she embellishes here and there. But, because I was desperate and felt like I was walking in with my eyes pretty much open, I was willing to take a risk. What I found was that the marketing agenda outweighed anything that I could find which was helpful. I spent a lot of money on tests (My naturopath negated some of the testing as they were not medically proven testing but, rather "energy medicine" testing from ALCAT. See link: http://www.allergy-clinic.co.uk/introduction-to-allergy/controversial-tests/) I was told by Ewers that the ALCAT tests were conclusive, that my naturopaths tests were not valid, and I should pursue an elaborate and expensive course of treatment based upon the ALCAT tests. I was told directly by ALCAT that my naturopaths tests were REQUIRED to validated their testing. I felt like my care was second to Fern Life's sales goals and when I attempted to add my well-educated thoughts, they were shot down. (Maybe she's used to dealing with people who are more compliant?) Also, I understand Ewers is a recently certified Hypnotherapist but, her LinkedIn page regards her as a "Psychotherapist." She has a Phd for her graduate work from Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality but, they confirmed she is not a psychotherapist. Ewers uses the term "Functional Medicine and Ayurveda" on her LinkedIn page. The Institute for Functional Medicine said she took their FIVE DAY course which teaches a systems approach to chronic disease, lifestyle, genetics, and family history but DOES not certify Ewers as a Functional Medicine Practitioner and, according to them, she was not enrolled in their certificate program or scheduled to graduate with their first graduating class. I also had genetic testing done, which was interesting but, I was frightened by the "mutations" shown in the test results. However, my naturopath had way more information about the result: The MOST important thing I learned about genetic testing is that just because you have a mutation does NOT mean it is expressing!! (i.e. I have the mutation that persons with autism have but, I do not have autism). So, treating a mutation without doing the extensive tests to see if it is expressing was recommended by my naturopath. Also, I found that you can easily find online testing that would have been a MUCH more comprehensive and less expensive route that the testing I was guided to get. So, in conclusion, I don't regret giving this a shot because I needed help and did learn a thing or two but, I did spend a lot and felt like I didn't get as much out of it as I had hoped. I feel as though diagnosis was not well thought out but, rather was a marketing process that I was being moved through. These are my opinions and perceptions. Keesha and the team at Fern Life Center have very honestly changed my life for the better. No - scratch that - the best. I've been seeing Keesha and her team for over 2 years and they literally helped create a path to get me from a 28 y/o girl who weighed 115 lbs (at 5 foot 8.5 inches) with bowl issues and skin issues (with a side of depression and anxiety! :) ) to girl who now weighs a healthy 134 lbs with healthy amounts of muscle and fat and no panic attacks. What?! Yes - its possible! How was this done? Testing my food sensitivities, hormones and blood (yes - its $200+ for the food test - some can cost up to a $1000 so this is relatively cheap. Western medical insurance companies do not and will never pay for this as the results of eating well do not necessarily save someones life short term which is insurance companies only goal. Fern Life Center gets you to a place to have a healthy life long term). With supplements that are very normal - like vitamin D, fish oil, multi vitamin, B complex (that yes, insurance doesn't cover - but you can pay w. a HSA card) - and eating foods that my body react positively changed how my body reacted to me on a daily basis. Learning to find peace from within (easier said then done but doable) and to go out and exercise - even if just walking! - and that I can start controlling my own life. Also - Fern Life Center's nutritionist, Erin - is literally the best coach I could ask for. I've been to plenty of nutritionist in my days who just write out a food plan and tell you to follow it. Erin will listen to every do and don't you demand (I demand a lot - no dairy! no meat!) as well as follow your food sensitivities and lifestyle to give you ideas to work of off. She's simply THE. BEST. I've seen family practices (East Side Family Medicine), food specialist (The Moore Center) and physiologist, etc etc. and this is the place that works for me. I call to make an apt front desk girl is new so of course it takes 45 min to make an apt I have patience so ok. I have been a patient with Fern Life since Sept. 2011. I am grateful for the support and advice that Keesha has provided me over the past months. I came to see her with an urgent issue to which mainstream medical doctors had been unable to address without massive dosages of antibiotics and medications that have so many warning signs making me wonder: 'should I be taking something that toxic?' The pain was pretty bad and I simply couldn't shake it. Keesha systemically began following the root cause of the issues plaguing me. One by one through alternative care, and some excellent recommended readings to draw from, 5 months later, and for first time in a year, I not only feel much improved, but my skin looks terrific, and my energy is coming back to its customary type A-force. Through Keesha, I have discovered a new way to balance my energy with my interests, to take a different perspective on how I work, and where I need to put my emphasis. Bought a LivingSocial coupon for this place and went to use it a full year after it expired.** I was only expecting to be able to use the amount I paid for the coupon but they allowed me to redeem it for almost full value. The deal I purchased was for CHT, a chakra balancing and something else. They let me have the CHT for the price I paid for the LivingSocial coupon. The place is a little obscure since it's near houses and it looks like a residential house but once found, it wasn't that hard to locate the entrance and someone who could check me in. They open at 9am and I was the CHT tech's first appointment of the day. I arrived 10 mins early and the receptionist was already there along with the CHT tech. Checking in was a breeze. I sat around for about 5 mins waiting for them to prep the room about to be used. Once the procedure started, the tech (who wasn't the drop dead gorgeous one mentioned in a previous review) kindly explained everything to me. She seemed like a very experienced and knowledgeable older woman who knew how to handle first timers and curious folks. Overall, it was not unpleasant and the scheduling issues mentioned in all the other reviews seems to have been fixed. Then again I was only a one-hit-customer. **I must admit the reason I didn't use voucher until recently is because I, too, had issues trying to book them close to the end of my coupon date (voucher expired Jan 2011). But lo and behold, I just waited them out and somehow the person behind the phone got better! And that's why I gave this place 4 stars. I could say more but for now I will say that some of the other comments here resonate with me on a couple of points. Keesha was pleasant to talk with and she seems knowledgeable in certain areas but I actually felt disgusted with certain aspects of how she handles people in her practice and her office needs better managing. Also, Naturopathic care does incur out of pocket expenses but I was left with the feeling that this practitioner's focus was not in the right place - and I don't think all of her prescribed tests, treatments, supplements, appointments and associated costs were necessarily needed for me to move forward with a healing plan (which she was unwilling to do unless I could readily purchase). Also, her initial consultation cost ($300) and follow up appointment costs seem to be higher than other experienced ND and functional medicine doctors. UPDATE AND RESPONSE TO KEESHA'S MESSAGE: Keesha - My review is intended to help people and it ISN'T about whether or not you take insurance (as you make it sound). You have a form in your office reflecting you do not work with insurance companies but that is not the point to my reviews. Most of us know there are out of pocket expenses with ND and functional medicine care but there are other issues of concern with your practice that I (and others) have outlined. For example: 1) After my first visit, you prescribed the Standard Process diet plan (with the supplements you sell) without having ANY test results back (including the expensive food intolerance test that you prescribed) and had been informed that I was having major adverse reactions to foods. Why would you ever have a patient start and pay for a diet plan before you first know what their needs and intolerances are? ***By doing this you directly contradicted what you wrote here and in your book which states you test and don't guess. 2) An inappropriate letter I received from your office manager berating me for having to cancel some appointments and adamantly stating I would be charged for an appointment that I had cancelled with appropriate notification. 3) Scheduling me for appointments I didn't know about or agree to (such as group genetic counseling, etc.). 4) You and your office manager telling me in person two (or three) times that you included the labs that I specifically asked for (but were not there) which caused the lab technician and myself to spend our time unnecessarily going through the orders repeatedly until you finally 'actually' added them. 5) At least one other commenter reflected they felt that you did not thoroughly review the 17 pages of information that you request in your intake forms and I felt the same way. In fact, I called to let your office know I was running late and on my way to my appointment but when I got there (15 minutes late) all of my intake forms were still sitting on the fax machine, your staff members were talking in the kitchen and you were in your office 'not utilizing' the time I was being charged for and should have been reviewing my completed intake forms. *** You contradicted yourself here on Yelp again by saying your patients are never expected to purchase from you or do as you prescribe and that we get to make the final call on what we want for our own health HOWEVER in your personal email to me you indicated that you were unhappy about the pace that I was going (and could afford) and further indicated that you felt it would be better for me to continue with one of my other care providers because the patients that you will be working with at your new practice will be those who can readily afford your treatments. I could comment further on other areas of concern but the bottom line is that it seems evident that you have disregarded some of the points and feedback provided by people who have worked with you. The staff at Fern Life Center is amazing from Mandy and Angie at the front desk, to Nicole in the business office, to Keesha the owner, and the most wonderful nutritionist, Erin Dudley. I primary see Erin, who has helped me change my life in regards to my relationship with food. She's always so encouraging and has tons of great information and ideas for me in regards to my food intolerances. Positive, positive energy abounds when working with Erin! I've used some of the Center's supplements, but in some cases look for lower cost alternatives. Keesha diagnosed my leaky gut and the three of us (Keesha, Erin and I) got to work on healing my gut. After a medical doctor, naturopath and behavioral health doctor could not help my insomnia (prescription drugs were not working) a friend gave me the number to Dr. Keesha. She has changed my life. I am sleeping, finally, and not from harmful prescription drugs but by natural remedies. She responded quickly when I needed extra help and her staff has always been very helpful and kind. Seems like a few people here had an off experience but that in no way is anything I have ever experienced and I've been to the clinic at least ten times. Two friends are now going to Fern Life as well and finding amazing results. Get ready to empty your pockets! This "simplified" method is rather spendy. I went to Fern Life initially on the recommendation of one person and have since found another that I know that went to Dr. Keesha as well. All 3 of us filled out the 15+ page intake form with great thought and both myself and one of the girls felt that was completely skimmed over. Dr. Keesha gives EVERY patient the same diet restrictions (more restricted than Paleo or Atkins - no fruits or veggies? Really?) but STRONGLY pushes their in-house diet program ($500+ to join, then $80+ per week). If you don't want to do that, she writes out a HUGE list of herbal medicines that "are best through her" or "stores don't sell it this pure or in this dosage" - funny, they also sell them for 1/2 the price. All 3 of us paid over $400 over the course of the first month for suppliments before 2 of us realized something was off. She ordered the same blood work for all of us ($450 out of pocket AFTER insurance) but didn't go over what she was having us tested for or what the results were (she told one person that their levels for something were "alarming" where mine were twice that and it was never mentioned to me). She told me the diet restrictions were to find what I was allergic to. I asked about allergy testing instead of this extreme diet and she said "this is easier." At one point I called in to ask about the dosage I was supposed to take for one of the suppliments. Her reciptionist (not any sort of medical training) tried to tell me what to take and was confused when I said I'd like to hear that from the person PRESCRIBING the suppliments. AND this was one of the rare times I actually got to talk to someone on the phone - they usually keep you on hold for 10+ minutes, send you to VM or just simply don't return calls. I've noticed they've been doing lots of Groupons lately for Colon cleansing. Glad to know they are giving deals to people after emptying my pockets. RUN. FAR AWAY. QUICKLY. You will feel rushed through your appointment. You will hear more about her life than you need/care to know. You will be asked to spend a TON of money. You will likely be frustrated with the communication / lack thereof from the office. ---UPDATE--- Wow. Her comments below are calling me angry because of the changes she suggested? BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS!!! I purchased two living social "deals" for $124. My vouchers had a January 31st expiration date. Five weeks before the expiration date i attempted to redeem the vouchers over the phone; however, I was rejected by someone claiming to be the "owner." She told me that they were "completely booked" into February and that they would not honor the vouchers even though the expiration date was still good. (What the owner says below is a lie). She also told me that I would have to pay an additional $124 if I wanted the services that I already paid for. This was far from a Zen experience. It felt more like SCAM. The alleged owner was incredibly rude and condescending toward me, essentially telling me to go take a hike. Living Social told me over the phone that they had received several other complaints about Fern Life and they immediately credited all of my money back to my account [Case # 02488682: Fern Life Center - ref:00DAHjId.500F90FHM]. So much for "venturing into transformative wellness" (which is the company's mission statement). Given the plethora of negative reviews about this business on Yelp (and then the sudden cluster of 5-star reviews immediately following this Yelp review), it's a wonder how they stay in business or how the owner stays out of jail for that matter. -- UPDATE: The owner's reply below is a complete LIE. THIS IS FERN LIFE'S M.O. They try to intimidate those who give truthful reviews. Just look at all the negative one-star reviews they've already received on this site! It's pathetic that the owner feels compelled to resort to vile intimidating behavior like this, but if nothing else it demonstrates her lack of integrity. Her COMPLETE LIE about Living Social allegedly "banning me" is not only ridiculous it's slander. (See my case number with Living Social above). In reality it's Living Social who confirmed that it will no longer allow Fern Life to do business with them because they're having to refund so many people's purchase. Apparently lying to the public does not conflict with the owner's vision of "transformative wellness." What a joke. Karma will most certainly get this woman. I became a client at Fern Life in June 2011 after the gyno said I'd need a hysterectomy. Decided to get a second opinion and boy am I glad I did! Keesha ordered the blood work that should have been done by my regular doctor and discovered that I my issues could be treated with a much more gentle approach and that some other things were out of balance. I went on Ideal Protein weighing 163 and in 3 months I'm down to 140 and feeling like a new woman! I have been less tired and more focused since taking her advice. It wasn't easy at first, making the life changes I needed to, but the results speak for themselves. The girls at the front desk are wonderful and everyone there always made me feel important and cared about. Fern Life/Keesha/Gillian changed my life for the better and for that I'm truly grateful. After going to allopathic doctors on both the East & West coasts & taking rounds of antibiotics & steroids for four years, I went to Keesha Ewers at Fern Life Center for help with a debilitating chronic skin problem. Keesha is both a nurse practitioner and trained in Ayurvedic medicine - a rare combination in this world of "either or." I have been seeing Gillian Erlich, Ph.D, ARNP at Fern Life Center since May '12. I am incredibly impressed with her thoroughness, her knowledge, and her interactional style. This has been my first foray into Ayurvedic medicine; this framework with strong emphasis on dietary management and balancing of the Dosha's is harmonious for me. Dr Erlich has never been late for an appt; she spends a substantial amout of time during each visit (intake was 1.15 hrs and follow ups were 45-50 minutes each). Ive been seen a number of times thus far and have another appt this week. She only practices at Fern Life 2x per week. Much of the session time is spent talking about my overall Self, my symptom picture, providing her with updates on same, education related to diet, supplements, and other treatment modality options. It should be noted that I did not come to the clinic with any MAJOR health issues; I was looking for an alternative to traditional medical care. Dr Erlich did suggest a regimen of supplements that I could purchase at the clinic, but no pressure to do so - I order mine online. I did purchase some tea from the clinic. The cost of specialized alternative ayurvedic treatments ( ie five day panchakarma) is high but in comparison to other respected clinics, about the same. Unfortunately insurance does not cover these! I have always been amazed at the quality and knowledge that is offered during a single visit. It is a beautiful integration of East meets West medical practice that has a little something for everyone. I have recommended Fern Life Center to practically everyone that I know. Well, this review is WAY over due!! I came to Dr. Keesha in January after being diagnosed with Crohn's and wanting an alternative to all the mainstream treatments for it which included immune suppressants, steroids etc etc. I had 2 opinions with GI doctors and told them no thank you...I believe I can heal this myself. (with a little help of course from someone I hadn't met yet) I actually was referred to her by an employee who worked at PCC in the vitamin dept and what a blessing! I was impressed with her approach and decided to embark on the journey. She put me on a 6 month plan which included a detox and food sensitivity elimination and I tried to follow it to the best of my ability. It was tough at first but I got used to it. I knew going in that it was going to be an investment, but we carefully mapped out a plan based on my budget and because she takes insurance, it was remarkably affordable. I really liked that she carefully researches all her products and assures the highest quality for her patients to yield optimum results. This was after all for my health and I was willing and wanting to get to the core issue of my problem instead of just masking it with something that would potentially lead to horrible side effects. She has not only gotten to the core issue of my IBD, but helped me in so many other areas which were also contributing to my problem. They have a really diversified approach to wellness which may seem aggressive, but really gets the job done (so to speak). I have since referred not only my husband (who i may add is a complete sceptic) and my mother and they are also seeing great improvements in their overall health and wellness. I find their staff caring, responsive and patient...gosh knows they needed to be with me on some days! Encountering a health crisis or bump in the road can be stressful and frightening but having an expert functional medicine doctor like Dr. Keesha gives you hope that you can overcome it. She is absolutely sincere in her desire to get you on a path to recovery. I saw the benefits my wife was receiving from her program at Fern Life and decided to give them a try for myself. What attracted me was the genetic testing and food sensitivity testing. I am a pharmacist by profession and spend my days dishing out pills of all kinds with many toxic side effects. Although there is certainly a place for medication I believe that we each have to take personal responsibility for our health and seek to find the root cause of our ill health. I was really surprised to read the other negative reviews. I've been going here for months. I never feel rushed and always feel as though my concerns are addressed. I bought the suggested supplements and then later checked to see if I could get them online (same brand) any cheaper and found that I could not. (although they are transitioning to a house brand, so you can't compare as easily anymore) They have a supplement punch card which gives you the 10th one free, so if you factor that in, it's cheaper to buy from Fern Life. Everything Keesha tells you to do is a suggestion. If you can't afford something, don't do it. I took her advise and am improving. After years of MD's prescribing this or that or worse still shrugging their shoulders - she actually gotten down to the cause. Read up on what she tells you and educate yourself - understand why she recommends what she does. She also did not recommend no fruits and veggies for me, so I don't think she gives out the same recommendations to everyone. Overall, I think Keesha is a compassionate and well educated medical practitioner and I would highly recommend her. read more

Keesha has been working with my family now for several years. I have two children with autoimmune diseases and have finally receive more answers from Keesha than I have from any other practitioner. I am shocked to read so many negative reviews about Fernlife Center, and specifically about Keesha Ewers, so I'd like to give folks some perspective. Keesha is a physician who specializes in Functional Medicine and her her goal is to help you understand the underlying cause of your health ailments. She uses scientific data to provide you with as complete of picture as you would like and treats each person as the unique individual that they are. She is kind, warm and compassionate (and so is her staff) and after seeing her for almost two months now I can say with confidence, she endeavors to make all of her services and products affordable and accessible. In my case, I went to see her because I had three other MDs tell me that the only thing I could do for chronic heart-burn / acid reflux is to take more Prilosec and use an extra pillow to elevate my head when I'm sleeping. Needless to say, neither of those treatments worked. I wanted to understand the underlying cause of my hear-burn and each MD told me it was just something to expect as a middle-aged female. Really? Intellectually that just did not make sense and I was very frustrated with the limited info available. After Keesha accurately diagnosed a friend as gluten intolerant and his chronic migraines disappeared (after eliminating gluten from his diet of course) I became more hopeful that she would be able to help me. I live a healthy life-style, eat well and limit refined sugar and processed food so when blood tests revealed that my digestive system is intolerant to 80% of what I eat it was a big blow. Imagine, doing everything you think is good and find out that it's not. It has been really hard work to change my mindset and accept it, but I tell you two weeks after not eating any of the foods on my Red, Orange or Yellow lists, my hear-burn disappeared! Lab work revealed a few other issues that are result of chronic use of antibiotics, birth control pills and NSAIDs and I have been been healing my gut through diet and supplements for seven weeks now. I am on a path to attaining homeostasis within my body, starting with my digestive track and including my adrenal glands which have been stressed to the max thanks to a thriving corporate career. I feel better than I have in years. Each time I meet with Keesha she takes the time to listen, understand and educate, three things that the other physicians I saw were too busy to do. Each week I become better informed about my body and what we are letting commercial farming and pharmaceuticals do to us. Fernlife Center is so much more than what the people who wrote the negative reviews is about. If you are interested in healing or curing a chronic ailment then this is the place for you. If you are looking for a quick-fix for your poor lifestyle choices then go to your MD and get a pill. We gave this place a shot for just over a year, we liked Kristen Brown when she was there (seemed genuinely concerned about patient care and outcomes), but after she left and we switched to Keesha my husband and I both lost interest and respect for this practice. First, Keesha was supposed to be his PCP (and he had already been an established patient for a year before the switch of providers), but when he has a male health issue she told him to come in to be seen but that she wouldn't perform a male exam (i.e. she wouldn't exam his testicles)- what's the point in coming in for an exam if you don't look at or examine the organ that's experiencing pain?!). Then when we had a prescription pain killer question (can we take OTC NSAIDS with valium) her response was that he should purchase dietary supplements for pain, dietary supplements they just so happened to sell. Needless to say we're leaving the practice, finally reached the point where we felt like Keesha only cared about visit volumes and sales of supplements... in other words MONEY... rather than what might be best for the patient. While I am a big proponent of functional medicine, and am open to alternative forms of medicine/healing, I did not care for the experiences and treatment at this practice. read more

Fern Life Center has brought me back to life! I have spent the last 10 years struggling with chronic illnesses that no doctor could ever fix. I continued to get worse and worse until my life became only dealing with illness. I started seeing Keesha 1 month ago and it is like a MIRACLE has happened! 4 weeks ago I was done for the day by 5:00 pm - no energy even to make dinner or to help my kids with homework. I sought out Keesha and Fern Life Center when my endocrinologist told me I was pre-diabetic. His only solution (outside of "try exercising more and eating better") was medication. I knew there was a better way. First, Keesha really listened to my issues--which were more than just blood sugar related. She helped me see my health as part of a holistic journey. She did tests I'd never had (or had even been considered for me!) and found out I am allergic to gluten. After eliminating gluten from my diet, I've been able to also eliminate two medications I have taken for years for asthma--including a steroid inhaler. The elimination diet she put me on--as well as the Ideal Protein diet--have resulted not only in weight loss but also cleared pain from all my joints, including my budding carpal tunnel syndrome. I feel better, have more energy, and I'm down to two prescription medications (from 5). Keesha is great at getting to the root of your health problems instead of giving you medications to treat only the symptoms. She can also tell you, in layman's terms, how your body's organs and systems are connected and how stress on one organ can impact others (such as thyroid). I'm so glad I found Fern Life Center. I first went to see Keesha in February of this year with multiple concerns the most important being high blood pressure, joint and muscle pain and major fatigue. I've had previous experience with Ayervedic medicine and knew I would be needing to change my diet and add supplements. I had resisted going in for some time as I was not quite ready to make the changes, but finally hit the tipping point and made my appointment. It felt a little overwhelming but the improvements in all of my areas of concern was very rapid, within a few days of starting. Though I may find it somewhat challenging some days to stick to the foods that are best for me and leave the not-so-good-for-me foods alone and to take all of my supplements faithfully, the lowered blood pressure, absence of pain and increased energy are highly motivating and I have done well. I have battled food sensitivities for many years. I went to Fern Life Center to lose weight and to try to get an understanding of what was causing the horrendous hives I was constantly battling. I was diagnosed by my physician with an allergy to wheat and cut it out of my diet but the hives continued to plague me. I then decided to go to Keesha Ewers who suggested I take a blood test called the Alcat test. I learned from that test that I not only had an issue with wheat but I had other food sensitivities. It has been four months since I had the tests and I have not had any hives for the first time since I can remember. I'm so grateful that I met Keesha. She follows up on the things she suggests I do, she is thorough , gives me the time I need to discuss, replies on email when I have questions and I feel like I have a supportive culture to reach my health and wellness goals. I've now gone to Fern Life Center for two services: the colon hydrotherapy and the pancha karma. I loved both. I went in for colon hydrotherapy a couple of months ago because I'd had a lingering cold for almost 3 weeks. Keesha (the doctor there, actually an ARNP, but she seems to have encyclopedic knowledge about natural healing, and she'll spend time talking with you) recommended it, also because I'd had digestion problems. The next morning my cold was gone and it hasn't come back. Good enough. So a couple of weeks ago, I decided to try Pancha Karma, which is an ancient Indian detox and rejuv therapy. I've gone to a lot of spas, and tried a lot of fasting and cleanses, but this was amazing. First, great massages by two therapists using herbalized oils. It made me feel like a new-born baby. After the first of five sessions, I felt lighter, happier, and the health problem that brought me to the clinic (severe and chronic eczema) disappeared by the end of the 5-day treatment. I'd like to do this once a year. The one downside is, it's a busy clinic and you may have to leave a message when you call for an appt. All I can say is, be patient. The wait is worth it. read more
