I was referred to Dr. Le at Alpine by another Naturopath and I had two visits with her. Though I was not very impressed with her during my visits, my challenge is not with her, but with the Office. They initially told me that they were not in network with my insurance so that I had to pay out of pocket, but when I contacted my insurance, I found out that was not the case. They were in network with my insurance, so the insurance company forced them to reimburse me for the office visit costs. When I first called to make the appointment, I inquired about their pricing structure. I was told that an office visit ranged from $95 to $260 depending on what services were provided, but if you pay at the time of service that you get a 15% discount. I received a bill for my first visit for $229.50. Well, if you do the math, with the 15% discount this adds up to $270. So why was I charged an additional $10? So I asked for an itemized bill so that I could see what the individual charges were. I never got one. And I did not receive one for the second visit. The "Superbills" that I did receive had CPT and diagnosis codes, but that doesn't tell me anything. And when I specifically asked what the codes mean, they refused to give any informative answers. If others are allowing them to do this, then they are not very smart. I want to know exactly what I am paying for so that I can manage my costs by deciding what services I wish to have provided at any given visit. But without knowing how the services are delineated, I cannot do that. I strongly suggest that you avoid this office. read more

I found Dr. Brooke Azie-Rentz on the internet about 2-1/2 years ago, and she was a godsend. She's smart, kind, patient, and solution-oriented, with great suggestions for natural solutions that work. My health is much improved now, and she has found solutions in my budget, too, which has been much appreciated. Don't let the girlish pigtails or her casual demeanor fool you; Dr. Brooke is every bit as savvy and educated as any dr. in a white coat (probably moreso than most!), and she will probably run more thorough tests than any hospital. Since she is an ND (Naturopathic Doctor) she's got a much larger toolbox than the average doctor, and her solutions will build health rather than burden it. I have found her to be intuitive and also logical in the best way ("let's try this first, then progress to that test or that solution if we don't see results we want") and she has a way of zeroing in on both the problem and solution quickly and systematically. I had the worst possible experience with Dr. Kimball. I have had severe chronic pain and other horrible symptoms for the past 6 years. I've been deemed the medical mystery by all the doctors I've seen, and no one has been able to find what's going on. A couple months ago, my PCP mentioned Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos to me, and I was officially diagnosed after evaluations and clinical histories. I came to Dr. Kimball wanting to be tested for Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. Immediately she told me how hard it is to diagnose and that I probably don't have it anyway. She proceeded to question every medical decision I have made in the past six years, and bash my PCP who has been the only good doctor I have found. She talked to me condescendingly and didn't ask me any questions about my symptoms and talked to me like I knew nothing about my own disease. For being "trauma informed" she has no bedside manner, and couldn't pick up on obvious cues that I was very upset about how the conversation was going. She proceeded to tell me I need to be tested for every single other connective tissues disorder even though I'm diagnosed with EDS. She minimized all my symptoms and told me I probably don't have the rare diseases that I'm diagnosed with but there's other issues causing it. The entire conversation was upsetting, triggering and made no sense. She didn't even take the time to read my intake form which clearly states that I have PTSD and have a family history of my diseases. I have seen over 20 doctors and this was by far the worst appointment I've ever had, which says a lot. read more

Chanda Ziegler, the MT has an amazing healing touch and energy! I was in need of massage therapy and decided to see Chanda. She has been easy to work with and her personality it very pleasant. She listens to my concerns and symptoms and responds appropriately and gives advice on what I should do to continue to benefit after the massage. They charge you extra on top of what your insurance pays monthly so you can see the Dr. otherwise if you don't take that service they will charge you extra $35 per visit. On top of that I inquired about doing HCG they were trying to charge me $600 MORE than my other dr did in Issaquah. I emailed the Dr about how I was feeling and never got a response back. Then I tried to cancel the monthly charge on 6/2 and they charged me again on 7/1 saying I didn't give them 30 days notice. I went to Alpine Integrated Medicine to clear up my adult acne that I was still having in my 50s and no longer wanted to be on antibiotics. I was pretty sure that it was food related. After waiting 6 weeks I got in to see Dr. Brooke who had me do the Alcat which is a blood test for food sensitivities. I did the full panel for over $1000. The results came back with an astounding number of sensitivities including that I was extremely allergic to apples. I followed the plan to the letter and eliminated all of these foods for 6 weeks. Not only did my skin get worse but I started having digestive problems (which is something that I do not suffer from). I went back to Dr. Brooke and told her the results could not possibly be me. She was able to have the test rerun for me for free. The new results came back and were COMPLETELY different. I was no longer extremely allergic to apples but now potatoes. The new results were better but neither one of them picked up my allergies to tomatoes or seafood. I can bite in to a fresh tomato and have a giant lip pimple within 30 minutes. I told Dr. Brooke and the president of Alcat, Roger Deutsch, that I just wanted my money back. There was a severe flaw in their testing process - user error, contamination, etc - and even if the second results were correct I could not trust them. They were going to discuss the results and call me back. That was December 2018. It has now been over 3 months and I still have not heard from them. Subsequently I talked to 2 other friends who did the Alcat testing (fortunately theirs was paid for by Microsoft) and they both said that their results came back and they too were extremely allergic to apples! None of us have ever had any problems with apples. They agreed that the Alcat is a waste of money and that skin pricks are a much more reliable test. In addition to the Alcat testing, Dr. Brooke put me on estrogen even though my thyroid levels were normal. She said I could do better. I started getting periods again for the first time in 10 years (I had an IUD removed a couple years ago) and the giant cystic acne pimples came back on my chin which is why I originally went on antibiotics for 15 years in the first place. Even before this, my sister who had ovarian cancer and then ten years later breast cancer told me not to listen to Dr. Brooke and do the estrogen. There is no breast cancer in our family. My sister believes that her estrogen hormone treatments caused her breast cancer. I then did my own research and discovered that menopausal women should never ever go on estrogen without progesterone which Dr Brooke never even discussed. And worse, why was she putting me on something I did not need when my whole stated goal in going to her was to get off all medications?! Lastly, I was surprised when I met Dr. Brooke. For someone who was so highly recommended to me, she did not look good. She was overweight with blotchy arms. I should have trusted my gut (hah!). Her system obviously was not working for her so I should have known it wouldn't work for me. It was a VERY expensive lesson. Since then, I have done much better with my own trial and error. If I limit meat/sea food to once a week, avoid fresh tomatoes and processed goods, and continuously rotate other foods my skin stays pretty good (basically following Eat Right for Your Type). At 55, I am off ALL medications and looking and feeling pretty good. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

I did go to Alpine Integrated Medicine for acupuncture to care about my broken hand. I did receive a good service however do not know why she performed a manual therapy without telling me. My insurance covers my acupuncture unlimited visits but have a cap on manual therapy. Now AIM is charged me the full amount for those manual therapy. I tried talking to them multiple of times to charge me the contracted amount but no luck. I think they just give you services and charge you any amount. Would give less than one star if possible. I was told the service would be covered about 70% by my insurance before I came in. Even verified with my own insurance. I came for just an IV transfusion that was recommended by my primary care provider. I had a referral sent. When I checked in I was confused by the amount of paperwork for just a transfusion. I was taken back with a doctor who once in the room explained that I would need to pay cash for the transfusion $250. That I would need 6 total each at $250, that it wouldn't be covered by insurance. Also unless I agreed to pay that amount that day they couldn't do the transfusion. I didn't agree to it and left. Before I could I was stopped to pay a co-pay for the "appointment". I was in the room for 10 minutes if that. I wasn't given any kind of check-up. It was just her telling me I had to pay for the transfusion. They are billing my insurance for an appointment I never had. I will never step foot in this office again. I feel taken advantage of. I'll be telling others to stay clear of this place. read more

I came to AIM about 3 years ago after medical doctors had me on all kinds of meds to cover up serious health issues from having Hashimoto's, an auto-immune thyroid disorder. Thanks to Dr Brooke, Dr Shegeft and their lovely acupuncturist (I see Ko Ching Lu now and before her I saw Erin) they got me back on track and are managing my disorder with so much expert knowledge, true care and effective communication between visits! After continually feeling worn down, sluggish and just not myself, I thought I should see a naturopath to figure out what was wrong with me. In 2013 I visited AIM and saw Dr. Brooke who diagnosed me with hypothyroidism and low iron levels. I was given some iron supplements and prescribed Armor thyroid. After a couple of months I felt like my heart was going to beat out of my chest and Dr. Brooke told me to lower my dosage. I did, and after multiple tests to check my thyroid levels, I felt fine for another year. But after realizing that Dr. Brooke may not know all that she thinks she does (I didn't notice this at all for the first year, but Dr. Brooke is pretty arrogant and is kind of a "know it all"/almost pushy), I decided to visit another naturopath in Seattle. She did some blood tests and said my thyroid levels were INSANELY high and I needed to stop taking Armor immediately. I am shocked that Dr. Brooke never noticed this and had be on such a high dose. Since stopping Armor my energy levels are great, I am less moody and have no more weird heart-pounding side effects. Turns out my B12 levels were low which is why I was always tired, it had nothing to do with my thyroid - something Dr. Brooke never noticed. After speaking with some friends that also see Dr. Brooke, we've come to the conclusion that almost anyone who goes in feeling "sluggish" or "tired" is diagnosed with some sort of thyroid disorder and given Armor. A poor excuse for personalized attention/treatment if you ask me. They also convinced me to do the Alcat testing for $600 upfront and after cutting out all of the foods on my red/orange list for two months, I saw absolutely no difference. I know Dr. Brooke is very busy with patients, but maybe she should take a step back and re-focus on individualized treatment for less people -- she might make an actual difference. On a side note, I did see Nichole Santoro their acupuncturist a couple times as well and absolutely loved her. I really saw a difference in my neck/back pain. I've heard she has since left the clinic and started her own practice in Kirkland. I definitely plan on seeing her again. read more

I think this clinic is headed in the right direction but has a ways to go. Need to revisit the need to inform patients (besides an email news letter that many times goes to spam) when their doctor is no longer at that clinic. Also, seriously consider the need for the concierge plan, really does you no good if your doctor is no longer there. Also, final billing can be a bit of a shock when you go off the concierge program and seek a new clinic. When you pay in full at the time of service (insurance does not cover iv drips) it is a bit of a shock to get billed for an additional 45 dollars for each treatment. Still scratching my head about how when you pay in full you get additional billing for a service. Wondering what to do with the 5 bottles of supplements purchased at my last visit and no doc to keep me up to date on how to continue on them. read more

I see Dr. Brooke regularly. My main goal is to feel good and recognize if I am missing out on key nutrients, minerals, vitamins etc. I have been seeing Dr. Brooke and Dr. Shegeft for about 2 years now. I find her to be super attentive and present. He is great too (more on him below). I am never rushed and everything is explained in straightforward (not fear-based) manner. We do have robust discussions on processes or suggestions if I don't feel like they are for me. She does not take offense to them and I always leave feeling like my health is a joint partnership. I have not felt "up-sold" and I do not object to the concierge monthly cost. I understand that this is their business model for maintaining operations and accept that as how this office is run. I get the benefit of ongoing conversations via email w/ Dr. Brooke as we monitor and adjust my nutrition between visits. Dr. Shegeft administers my IVs for iron and he has a very light touch w/ the needle, which I appreciate greatly. All in all, I am very satisfied with the treatment I receive at AIM. read more

I don't often write yelp reviews, yet felt compelled to write this one since "Dr. Brooke" failed to respond to several e mails. I feel she needs to review the 'Hippocratic Oath'. A friend told me about Dr. Brooke in 2013. I began to see her to talk about hormonal balance. In addition to wanting to supplement my female hormones, I also was seeking advice on Thyroid hormone. I had my thyroid removed due to cancer in 2010, so I need to take thyroid hormone for the rest of my life. I was prescribed the 'Wiley Protocol' for female hormones, and switched from synthetic thyroid to 'Armour' thyroid (dessicated pig thyroid). A lot of N.D.s like Armour thyroid because it's 'natural', being that it's from an animal. Makes sense on paper. I might have done alright on Armour had I not been overdosed on it. Dr. Brooke prescribed me an amount of Armour that was equivalent to 3X the amount of synthetic thyroid that I'm on now (6 months later). My current N.D. and Endocrinologist were both shocked that I'd been prescribed such a high dose! The side effects of having too much thyroid hormone, to name a few are; insomnia, anxiety, nervousness, dry skin, panic attacks. I had all of the above, and quite severely. When I communicated to Dr. Brooke about my symptoms, she was very casual about the whole thing, and would take days to respond to my emails. Being hyper-thyroid is a dire situation, and needs to be taken very seriously! Thoughts of suicide went through my head during those couple of months last winter. I had the sort of insomnia where days would go by that I didn't sleep. Total nightmare. My instincts told me to go back to synthetic thyroid and drop the excessive dosing of the Wiley Protocol, which I tapered off. I found an Endocrinologist who helped me get on the right track with thyroid dosing, and then found a compounding pharmacist who in turn helped me find my new N.D. who now prescribes my hormones. Hormones are not something to be toyed with, a little bit goes a long way! When there is no thyroid gland, a person needs the dose to exactly mimic that of human thyroid, which requires testing every 6 weeks to get the dose right. Armour (dessicated pig thyroid) is much higher in T3 /T4 ratio than human thyroid, therefore, not the best choice for people with a Thyroidectomy. I expect my Dr. to know these sorts of things, and I'm glad my new one does. And anyone looking into bio-identical estrogen and progesterone, I would highly recommend checking out Dr. Jonathan Wright's work and the Tahoma clinic. He has been on the forefront of bio-identical hormone therapy since the 80's, when Dr. Brooke was a child. He is an expert, he's not a fan of the Wiley Protocol, nor am I having been on it. Hormones can make one feel on top of the world, or want to be six feet under it. Good luck to all! Hormonal balance is the key to happiness. Do yourself a favor, and go to someone who knows what they're doing, not someone who pretends to be an expert when they're really not (Dr. Brooke). The fact that she never responded to my recent communications says a lot about her character. I think she cares more about being a 'know it all' than actually caring about her patients. I guess I have to agree with some of the others about the thyroid situation and the communication; and also the lack of professionalism from her staff. I saw Dr. Brooke. I do think that she means well, but her treatment practices leave a lot to be desired. I saw Dr. Brooke, and with two months, I was on four or five different supplements. Yes, her diagnosis for me too was low iron and bad synthetic thyroid medication. She gave me iron - which transfusions helped tremendously. Then recommended a maintenance dose - which did nothing. She started me on Armor. I began to have insomnia - and I was already suffering from lack of sleep. I didn't really have a period after 3 months on Armor, which I otherwise had regularly for the last 35 years, less having a kid. I went to my endocrinologist and he put me back on synthroid right away, and I am feeling MUCH better. She also prescribed a plethora of other supplements, which did not work. She did nothing about letting me know what my actual problems were and why each specific gene might be expressing itself. Also - her communication was terrible! She would ask me to email her, I did, and then she wouldn't respond. On another matter, I would email her information she requested. I would get nothing in response. I would email her again a few months later to follow-up, and she would then ask me if I had emailed her the information from two months ago?!?! In addition, while waiting in the waiting room, I heard the scheduler take on new patients?!?! The medical assistant that does blood-draws = RUN! He tried to do mine, twice. He left a few half-dollar size bruises, and had to dig around with the needle, WHILE IT WAS IN MY ARM, and he still couldn't find the right place. Also - I tried to get a blood draw for my daughter, she was holding her arm still and I was holding her arm, and he somehow managed to pull the needle out while he was drawing blood - from a child! Here is an example of a conversation I had with the receptionist in the HEALTH clinic. Me: The phlebotomist isn't doing a very good job. Receptionist: What is that? Me: The person taking the blood. Receptionist: Oh, we don't use big fancy words like that around here?!?! Also - I had a bad flu, and called to cancel an iron transfusion the morning of my appointment. I got billed a cancellation fee. I told Dr. Brooke I was sick. She said I still needed to come in, that they treat sick people there, and they would just wipe down germs there?!?! You want me to come shit and vomit in your office room while I sit there and get an iron transfusion, or have to pull the needle out to go sit on your public toilet?!?! This place is nuts. OH - and to top it off, they are planning on using a concierge service (charge you a personal monthly fee) for tasks that they are supposed to do already via HIPAA regulations! I don't know. I think they mean well, but their doctors are not that experienced, their treatments are not that clinical or comprehensive, and their office staff is horrible. I think it might be best to wait until some of this stuff gets better. I do think Dr. Mo is good at what he does. I have not tried the ancillary services there. read more
