In the front of the…read morestore they have a kid section, with a table & chair for kids & some toys on the floor for sale, my son (who is 3) like any other toddler naturally gravitated towards the toys & went to play with a Melissa & Doug activity board toy, the older lady who works there came out while walking towards him saying "no, no, no don't touch that!" & put her hands on his shoulders to pull him away, my husband quickly grabbed our son. We immediately felt uncomfortable. Our poor son was so confused & thought he did something wrong. why have toys on the floor, in the reach of children if you don't want them to be touched? If you have littles I would personally skip this store, plenty of other kid friendly options in the area, especially the antique store right next door.

I found some great music books for piano and other instruments tucked away in a box under one of the shelves. I was a bit disappointed with the price of some of the music books. I usually pick them up from other book stores for $3-$4 each. Here, the books for selling at or way more than the original price, and these are by no means a collector's item. The Scarlatti Sonata No. 30, "The Cats Fugue," original price is $2.50 and is sold here for $20. I can order the same edition on eBay for $3.99. other online retailers sell the same book with alternate cover for $1-$2 more. Unfortunately, I couldn't ask for a discount because the owner was out of town for the holiday so, I left this book for now and purchased two other books for about $6 each. My Mom purchased a signed edition of Heart Wide Open by Shellie Rushing Tomlinson for $15. I guess that is about the going rate for a NEW book. I can find it unsigned/secondhand online for about $5; I guess the signed book brings up the value? The store owners' brother was operating the store while the owner was out of town. I didn't get his name, but he welcomed us in the store, was very helpful, and shared a great conversation about his service in the Airforce. All-in-all, this is a cool store to check out if you're in Deland shopping.

There was a small parking area on the side with a scooter that said "renewals bookshop" along with a few other cars but no signage or obvious entrance. I tried ringing the doorbell and looking around for a minute but I started to feel like a creeper so I just left. This was in the middle of the day on a Saturday and it was a shame because I had driven a bit out of my way to check it out.

So affordable here. I purchased a fiction book by Joel Rosenberg. Great read. After a week, I had to return to purchase the sequel to the book. I also purchased multiple study books on my second visit. My wife stopped by and purchased several toys for the grandchildren to keep them occupied. The owners were so helpful in assisting us in making a selection. Bookstores and particularly Christian Bookstores are a dying breed. This establishment seems to be bucking the trend. This small business is a stand-alone sparkly nugget on busy U.S. 1 (Dixie Freeway). Colorful, hand painted sculptures and treasures greet you even before you set foot in the store. Once inside, there are so many treasures in every nook and cranny - with a particular focus on nautical themed (especially mermaids - hence the name - "The Vintage Mermaid") furnishings and gifts. The store also smells like a spa and a new age store had a baby - it's a nice smell! They seem to specialize in up-cycling wooden furniture, turning pieces into one-of-a-kind "must have" item. The store even has a special paint section and staff provide free advice on how to do certain techniques on furniture that customers may want to attempt at home. We'll definitely be back to check out what new pieces will turn up!

For years it was by the bathrooms by Macy's and seamed so small and cramped that I feared going in. The new location is much larger and I do not feel like a bull in a china shop. They also have some cool gift ideas and a host of figurines.
