Used socks

I'm coming to leave a review as after trying to handle it privately I was not met with a proper solution. My Fiancé and I came to stay at this hotel.. upon getting into bed after taking a nice shower, my toes touched a pair of socks. These socks were indeed not mine. These socks were not clean socks as it clearly shows the outline of a foot (Which we all know looks like after being worn). Since it was late, I waited till the next morning to go downstairs and speak with someone. I spoke with Madison, the front desk manager, and she told me that she would call me later that day to speak about compensation. No call and response. Housekeeping came and cleaned my room about four hours later. The next day, spoke with Jon and he said as a temporary solution, he was refunding me my $44 Resort fee, and that he couldn't do anything more because I booked through Hotels.com. Well, after speaking to Hotels.com .. The resort is refusing to refund any of my money for Finding a DIRTY pair of socks in my bed.

Fenwick Inn has had a make-over. It's nice inside but literally zero security. I don't mean security like armed mall cops, I mean, checking passes for parking and mostly for people coming in and out of the hotel. Let me tell you, anyone can jump in this pool in here or come thru the front door to get a free latte or coffee. No one stopped me and my daughter when we walked in to see her dad. We could've spent the day in there swimming and drinking lattes all day long and probably slept in the car in the lot. That's the security Im talking about.. Put key swipe mechanisms on pool doors and all else. Even bathroom doors. Otherwise, room was ok and it's about 100 yards from Delaware. Its surrounded by great places to eat and shop and also sitting across the street from beach front condos.

This place deserves a new review from me. I stayed here one year ago and since that time, this hotel has made some major improvements. The staff was wonderful. The young lady that checked us in was very friendly and informative. She also let us check in two hours early, which was much appreciated after a long drive. The entire hotel has been completely remodeled. It's it modern, coastal, and comfortable. The pool area was clean and bright. They have a little mini market offering snacks and toiletries. They also offer a very basic continental breakfast with muffins and fruit. There are laundry facilities onsite. And the property is still pet friendly. They don't offer daily housekeeping but you can request service if you need it. This will be my go-to hotel when visiting OC from here on out. Highly recommend!

We booked a dog friendly room via Expedia on 5/21. When we called to confirm after 45 minuted in a hold loop we were told we couldn't stay and that they had no specific pet friendly rooms available- even though their stated policy on Expedia was the standard pet fee and that we would have to call Expedia for a refund. We found this all out at 8 pm on a Friday after driving to ocean city from Westminster so 4 or so hours in the car with dogs. At this point there was literally nothing dog friendly in OC to book so we started to head the 4 hours home. We reached out to Expedia who had to confirm with the Fenwick Inn. Luckily we had time to spare on our drive home because this started a 3 hour ordeal where the staff lied to Expedia and told them that we could have stayed for a standard pet fee. We had to escalate again and again within Expedia to get someone to finally authorize a refund as the Fenwick Inn also dishonestly told Expedia that they don't have specific pet friendly rooms and that their policy is different than what the message you after you book. All of that to essentially try to steal our money. Infuriating.

CLEARLY STATES CHECK IN AFTER 3pm NOT 4pm.

Ask the Community - Fenwick Inn

Is there breakfast included here?

No, breakfast is not included.

I'm very scared for bed bugs, and some reported that there are bed bugs here in Fenwick. I'm staying there starting August 21, and I was wondering if anybody experienced bed bugs here?

We stayed for 3 nights the first week of August and did not see any. There were no signs of them in our room 701 during our stay. I check for the stains and eggs or bug presences before I let the family bring in the bags.

Does this place have bed bugs, seems like everywhere nowadays has them?

When we stayed there in spring 2016 and again in spring 2017: nope, the linens and towels were serviced every day. The rooms are very well-worn not dirty.

On the positive side, the setting is fantastic. You get a beautiful direct view of the ocean through the windows, the decor and ambiance are lovely, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Unfortunately, the food itself was barely above what you'd expect from a low-end self-serve hotel buffet. I ordered the omelette with turkey sausage, veggies, and cheddar cheese. Instead of melted, shredded cheddar folded in or melted on top, I was served a single slice of Kraft American cheese slapped right on top of the omelette. The hash brown loaf was an atrocity. They would be far better off serving traditional scattered hash browns or even a straightforward McDonald's-style hash brown patty. A few things were done right: the toast was good, served with nice preserves, and the side of fresh strawberries was delicious. The drip coffee was fine, though it's worth noting they don't offer any espresso drinks like lattes or cappuccinos if that's part of your morning routine. Worth stopping in if you just want to sit by the water with toast and coffee, but the hot breakfast prep needs a major rethink.

The room was on the first floor and that was perfect for us as we both had an injury. The room had 2queens in it, tv, refrigerator, desk, full bathroom with dove soap and shampoo. The room was clean and comfortable and we were able to sit, sleep and eat comfortably. The room was clean, the indoor pool was a bit disgusting with no filter running and the water was warm and greenish-gray. That is the main reason I am not giving a 5 rating. We were interested in the indoor pool bc it was raining outside where the other pool was. We ended up NOT GETTING IN ANY POOL. We were not going to chance it in the pool bc of potential infections in the water and it wasn't clean. Overall it wasn't bad but the pool was a problem. I'm giving them 3/5 because of that pool and the breakfast available in self service and was extremely crowded and not enough seating. There was no fresh fruit, or anything that I could eat (I'm keto) so I did eat a little bit of chobani yogurt but it wasn't the Greek yogurt I eat. That was a disappointment to not have keto friendly food or vegan options. They need to catch up with the rest of the world and have options for both regular food, vegan and keto options. A few small changes to the food available would make this a much better place. I also noticed that they don't give you any water or anything when you check in. I have stayed in many hotels and every one always has a bottle of water for each person (free) and a snack (apple, orange, cookie etc) this location didn't. I'm also going to say that when we checked in the man & woman at the desk were rude, and the man acted like he didn't know what he was doing and he asked the woman who had an attitude towards us. So I have stayed there before with my family for soccer tournament and it was much better and people nice and friendly and helpful back then. It is not like that now!! Beware of the hotel prices as well. For a 1 night stay in a double queen room was $242/night. Definitely not worth that price. My friend booked it using her and her husband rewards program and when we arrived they said where's the primary person on the account. My friend said she booked it and used her credit card but because her husband name was on the rewards program they said they had to get him to ok it. They said they would have to call him. My friend explained that would be difficult since he passed away this year. They were quite confused about what to do and they had to call a manager for this despite my friend using her credit card and the same address as her husband obviously but they were trying to make it difficult for us. I'm not recommending this hotel for 3 reasons. 1. Filthy pool indoor 2. Rude staff and not properly trained 3. The free breakfast which we were looking forward to didn't have any vegan, keto or healthy options. It was cereal, pastries, pancakes, etc and self serve so I don't feel comfortable eating anything that dozens of people have breathed on, touched or who knows what. I'm going to give them 2/5 overall for the reasons stated above.

My room was not ready upon arrival but they took my phone number and called a short time later to let me know it was. The room was clean and well stocked. Anything I needed was quickly provided by housekeeping staff. The balconies are kind of scary. Although I am sure they are fine, they give an uneven feeling because they are so small and so high up. There is only room to stand out there, no room for a chair. We had several events hosted at the hotel and all of them were amazing. The banquet staff was top notch and we saw them a lot throughout the week. They provided amazing service and were friendly while interacting with all of the guests. All of the food that I tried at the events was delicious. The hotel is right on the beach and has plenty of outdoor areas on multiple levels. At night, our group spent a lot of time outside since we had amazing weather the whole week. The only issue many of us had was the parking. When organizing the conference parking was supposed to be included with our stay. I guess that was not communicated with whatever company patrols the lots. Some ended up with tickets on their cars, double charges and one even got towed. It was a hassle to keep calling to get our parking charges refunded as it is all done through an app via QR code. I look forward to my next stay as we will probably have another conference here in two years.

This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've had in a long time…read more I even completed mobile check-in through the app before arriving, but after getting there after the 4:00 p.m. check-in time, I still waited about 30 minutes in line for my room keys and another 20 minutes for an elevator. When we finally got to our room, it wasn't the room we booked. I had reserved an oceanfront king room with a sofa bed for three guests, but there was no sofa bed. After another elevator wait and another 30-minute line at the front desk, I was told there were no rooms available and was given a rollaway bed instead. The "complimentary breakfast" vouchers we received as compensation turned out to be only a $15 credit per person, which didn't even cover the cost of breakfast. The rollaway bed also arrived without sheets or a pillow, so we had to ask for those separately. The property itself was dirty. Trash cans were overflowing, garbage was scattered along the beach access, and the elevators were constantly packed because there wasn't a separate service elevator. Guests were sharing elevators with housekeeping carts, laundry bins, and even furniture. At one point, I rode up with my own rollaway bed. To top it off, I never received my final bill at checkout. When I called to request it, the employee told me she didn't have my name, even though she had just addressed me by it. The call then disconnected before the issue was resolved, which only added to an already frustrating experience. The location on the beach is great, but that's about the only positive I can offer. I understand holiday weekends are busy, but this hotel felt understaffed, disorganized, and poorly maintained. I paid for a specific room that wasn't provided, spent a significant portion of my vacation dealing with problems that shouldn't have happened, and left feeling very disappointed. I hope the hotel takes steps to improve because, based on this experience, I wouldn't choose to stay here again.
