Do not give this place your business. The male manager who is maybe Spanish is rude and nasty. I can't give you his name because he is so rude that he refused to give me his name. Pork chops was ordered and once it was picked up took home to be cleaned the package has rat feces on almost all the meat. I called and even went back to the store and they told me that I was telling a lie and they were not going to refund me. Please don't get meat from them. I have only tried one thing from Fellner's, but you can bet I'll be back. The quality of the pork ribs I bought was really, really good. The meat was so much better than the last ribs I purchased from Safeway. It just tasted fresher, had a great texture (AKA not frozen) and the cut I was so picky about was better than the prepackaged grocery store stuff. There are usually a bunch of butcher guys working at the counter, and while they aren't friendly in a "hey y'all!" Kind of way, they make the time to get you exactly what you want. You don't feel rushed. They could be a little friendlier... Prices are a bit higher than what I've been paying in grocery stores, that speaks more to the quality than price-gouging in my opinion. The worst part of Northeast Market is the high counters...ugh. That won't go in my rating, but short people should be advised - there's a bit of a reach for practically EVERYTHING in there. read more

I have been purchasing meats from this establishment since the early 90's as well as my mom and grandparents have. My mom always gets her corn pig tails from here. I went there Saturday because I had a taste for Beef liver smothered in gravy with onions and this has always been my go to place for liver and my other meats. When I got the liver home, I prepared 2 pieces of the 4 and it was very tough. As i tried to cut from all angles hoping for a tender piece, it never happened. After eating a couple forks, not enjoying it, I threw it out, other 2 pieces I had placed in the freezer. When I got to work Monday, went up there during my lunchbreak to try and solve the matter. I told the owner of my experience and told him I still had 2 pieces home in the freezer. His response was "you have to be careful not to overcook it" then he walked away. Everyone in their right mind that has prepared this dish, including him, even if he never has, being in this type of business he should know how it's prepared. That after you fry the liver you let it simmer in gravy as long as you like, so there is no such thing as overcooking it. Even if you fry it longer than you should it won't be tough and hard as that liver was. He did not try to please a long time customer, never tried to make things right, and regardless of what types of meats I need in the future, I would go out of my way before I support the Fellners again. read more

I was totally hoodwinked! When I placed my order, the guy went in the back with the corned pigs tails and I asked the other person why he had to go in the back because they were in the showcase. I should have canceled my order right then and walk away. I didn't. Just made the dish I had planned to take to event, but the pigs tails taste awful!!! Not corned at all!! I use to be an avid shopper here, but now with that switcher-a-roo, I don't know. I wasted $20.95! Disappointed!! read more

Why I keep not grocery shopping at NE market is a mystery to me. Why I also didn't see Fellner Meats disappoints me, but now I've finally found my neighborhood meat shop, especially when I can't get Ostrowski's sausages (the one on Bank...the legit one) on Mondays because they're closed or when I'm in need of other meat cuts. Fellner Meat's has mostly beef, pork, and turkey items. Whole hog heads, pig feet, and more. Way cheaper than Whole Foods, local folks, and in just a super awesome market. GO GO GO read more

I live in a nearby apartment building and I needed some bacon so I decided to check out this place. The staff was friendly and helpful and the prices were reasonable. The bacon was excellent and gave my recipe that extra touch that it needed. I will definitely come back to purchase other meats and I would definitely recommend it to anybody in the area and to those who work or study at the Johns Hopkins Hospital or associated professional schools.
