For sure has a lot to do and see in it. There's many youth leagues and programs among other things. A really big park with a lot of area to cover. It's more than 42 acres and it's on both sides of Foster Avenue west of Pulaski. This has long history of how it came to be and what it is today. First it used to be farmland. In 1926 it was transformed into parkland. Additions were soon to be added. These included a natural stream dammed to create lagoons. Also there were basketball courts and football fields. Later WPA funding was used to restore the wetlands. It was named after the founder and first president of the American Federation Of Labor. There's a statue of him at Foster and Pulaski. For certain it's a good way to admire the natural beauty of the area. It's located along the North Branch of the Chicago River. This also has a swimming pool that's popular in summer, but if wanting to see more authentic bodies of water, go for a walk around the wetlands.

After a building was destroyed by a fire, this replaced it. This is a pretty good replacement it seems. A location close to the eastern starting point of The 606, a popular trail made on a former railroad bed. It's just west of the Kennedy Expressway. The noise kind of ruins it to be honest. Even so, it's pretty nice to just hang a bit. This is a good place for getting on and off the trail. Among the features are a basketball court and soccer field. There's also a dog friendly area and a playground. In 1970 there was a fire that destroyed a building. John P. Walsh, Jr. was a firefighter who died five weeks after getting injured. A few months after his death, the Dana Civic Organization requested this land be developed into a park, and so the transformation began. This was opened in 1973 and is dedicated to his memory. Good thing to replace a building destroyed by a fire. It's got a lot here, especially for children with the pretty big playground. This is also convenient to get to from the bicycle trails, and it's close to the Clybourn Metra station so it's accessible by using public transportation.

Warren Park is a very large park in West Ridge, on Chicago's far north side. It's the largest on…read morethe north side I think. I think I might have been here once when I lived in West Ridge a mile away. They have facilities for baseball, basketball, and soccer, as well as a 9-hole golf course (waaaaay on the northeast side of the park, at the corner of Pratt and Ridge), and tennis courts that double as pickleball courts. There's a path that runs through the park as well so you can walk or job, but I also saw people riding bikes on it when I was here. In wintertime, they have an ice rink. You can play cricket here, racquetball, and there are three playgrounds. The field house is large too. There's a gymnasium and the Northtown Garden Society operates out of here. I was surprised to see the garden club because I had been curious if there was one around here but couldn't find one. I'm sure one of if not their major project is the maintenance of the Warren Park community garden, which is between Western Avenue and the field house. Near the field house, on its south side, is a work of public art that doubles as a place to sit and take a load off. The history of Warren Park is a particularly interesting one and combines the politics of Chicago. The land was once the Edgewater Golf Course, a privately owned course. It was purchased and the community soon learned that the developers wanted to put a high rise and shopping center here. It was indeed re-zoned by the city when community efforts failed, and those groups (called the Allied North Side Community Organizations) appealed to the governor, who signed legislation making it a state park to preserve the open land, calling it the "first major state park in Illinois created in an urban area". The state only purchased about a third of it, though, and the remaining land was still undergoing development, much to the dismay of the surrounding community. Is the end, the Chicago Park District chose to condemn it and turn it into parkland, and the state transferred its property to the city. This park as a very large parking lot, which is good since there are so many activities here. There are bathroom facilities inside the field house as well. The field house and playgrounds are accessible, and depending upon one's accessibility needs other areas of the park may be as well.

It looks exactly the same and they have managed to keep it in good condition. It's nothing fancy but it's clean and well kept. I love that they have two kid pools, one with a bunch of fountains and that connects to slides and another that is more basic/quieter. There was plenty of seating and lots of staff/lifeguards around. They do adult swim for the last 10 min of each hour. One less star because it is very expensive for non-residents ($18 per person). My infant was free, thank goodness. I guess if I think about it that is about the cost of a movie ticket. Anyways, I will probably not be going as often as I would like because of the cost.

Though there were only two courts to play on, people were very friendly and rotated out after their games were over. The area was clean, bright, and a fun atmosphere for all! The nearby park and splash pad area looked like a fun spot for the kiddos, and there were tennis lessons happening in the courts next to us! Lots of fun on this Sunday morning!

The one next to the playground has been there for months. Since then, I've seen an uptick of drinking and drug use, people from the encampment walking down the alleys looking into back yards, guys with crazy behavior next to field house. If they weren't causing problems in the community, it would be a different story. But is a public safety and health issue. Please remove these so we can enjoy our park again. Parents please be careful with your kids around here.

Jonquil Park is known for the athletic fields and playground. Even though it's not big, it's big enough. The entrance even has a cool sculpture. A neighborhood park is the best way to describe it. It's not nearly as popular as the neighborhood's namesake park. This is more for those who live in the area than for other locals and tourists. Best known for the baseball. There's also a few tennis courts. A playground is pretty modern and it's ADA approved. There's a spray area to keep cool in summer. At the entrance is a sculpture by Richard Hunt. The Eagle Columns was inspired by a Vachel Lindsay poem about former Governor Peter Altgeld, who was an early proponent of playgrounds. He actually has a studio across the street from here. The park does have a few homeless but they don't really bother others. Good area. It's close to the Fullerton CTA station. This is located at the intersection of Lincoln, Sheffield, and Wrightwood.

So here's are the details: Nice enough public park. Safe in my experience - there might be a few eccentric folks around but it's always felt safe during the day time. I've never visited the restroom but I've heard tell it's often out of order. The courts at jonquil are hard courts and they do have lights at night. Tennis On the Lake reserves 1 court (of 2) evenings throughout the week and morning/afternoon on the weekend for lessons during the nice weather. Each of the 2 courts has an "even/odd" rack. Hang your racket to reserve the upcoming even or odd hour. So if you arrive at 3:30, hang your racket on even to reserve for 4, and odd to reserve for 5. Tennis on the lake always plays on the west court. Not sure if there are any other coaches that reserve space - I've never seen that nor any other signs. Some people will go in the morning and hang their rack with a note reading "6 PM" this is against the rules and also again court etiquette. Not much we can do about it but if you wonder if you should do that - just don't. It's rude. Also I DO recommend tennis on the lake if you're looking for lessons.

Located on a dead end street and right next to the rail and get the occasional blow horn from the trains passing by. Definitely a great park to have a picnic and far enough from any main streets so the noise level is great.
