We came on a Sunday afternoon and had the option of a roast meal, or any item off of the menu, which is good because sometimes the traditional Sunday roast can be a bit too much to eat. We waited in the bar next door, with fantastic cocktails (although no snacks after 6:30) and the time raced by. There were so many lovely vegetarian options that we struggled to select just four. We settled on: Garlic prawns-flavorful and fresh. Vegetable croquetas- a fun take on a normally meat driven dish. The texture was more satisfying than the flavor, but overall it was good. Cauliflower nuggets with blue cheese dipping sauce-similar to the croquetas, the texture was better than the flavor. I was looking for a stronger blue cheese flavor in the sauce. Patatas bravas-delicious, and surprising that there were two separate sauces, one more creamy and one more spicy. A winner. The bread with the table was ok, nothing spectacular. Regardless the overall meal was a pleasure to eat!

I think it was a Whitbread Out and Out previously, and the food was exceptional and the service impeccable. The red wine was always served at the right temperature. Since the change I have notice very slight changes. The staff don't seem to be as well trained, but pleasant none the less. The food has been fine too. I am glad they have reinstated being able to book rather than turn up on speck. I can't comment on the beer, I tend to drink wine. I hope that their standards haven't declined. Returned on 17/7/09 - Hadn't booked, but was able to get a table for four, but only two of us so that was good. I can't fault the food. I think somethings are a bit pricey. The chicken on skewers (£4.75). They failed with no French mustard, and my wife had stilton with her ploughman's instead of chedder, but she likes stilton. My mixed grill was just about right for my appetite, but again I think it was a bit pricey.

There's a beer garden but for me it's rather close to the road to make it an enjoyable place to sit. For his reason I've only ever been during the colder/ wetter months or days. Inside it's quite tightly packed so if you have children who need their space, this place isn't for you in my opinion. It's also quite dark and snug, which is another reason I prefer it in the autumn and winter. The food is good quality and nicely presented. I've always enjoyed what I've eaten here, and the beer's good to. If you have fussy eaters in your party, this place might not be for you either, but it makes for a pleasant way to enjoy a meal nonetheless.

Weekends are nearly impossible to get a table, especially during the Christmas Market. Go on a weekday afternoon for prompt and friendly service. We ordered the vegetarian pie with mashed potatoes and peas and kale. This dish is served with a delightful mushroom gravy for drizzling over the whole dish. The vegetables in the pie are clearly fresh and not from a bag of frozen peas, corn and carrots. I love the dark, moody decor. The walls are dark grey, while all the decorations are gold, black and white. The tables are cosy, but I'm not a fan of the lumpy barstools, so avoid those if you can.

I remember popping in there once but it was lifeless and bland and just not for me. The name change and renovation have done this place wonders. Let me explain.... So myself and a friend were thinking where to go for a bite to eat and his housemate reconvened button factory having not been to try the food yet I thought why not. The menu is small and Concise with a few well explained items and specials. We both went for the chicken and chorizo burger which was pretty good rating but sadly the bun was a bit dry and had to be half taken off to get it down....however the fries and salad were lovely both well seasoned and dressed. The other thing to note here is the staff are amazing g and just make you feel so relaxed and welcome. This is the kind of place you could go in on your own for food and not feel at all out of place. I think this will be a five star on next visit to be fair.....just can't be dealing with an unfortunately dry bun!
