I walked around first to check the place out, a very cool interior, and several places to eat. I didn't realize it at first, but there is more than one restaurant. I went to the front host stand and told the host that it was one for dinner. He greeted me, gave me a menu, and then we walked to one of the seafood bars and I sat down. The name was Ekmans Almost immediately, the man behind the bar came to me and asked me for my drink order. We discussed the different beers available, I settled on a local draft and then perused the menu. As I walked in, I spied another diner having a seafood platter, which looked great. I asked my server about it, and he highly recommended it, so I ordered it. He brought me a tasty cold beer, and shortly thereafter, my seafood platter arrived, and it was perfect- a bunch of tasty small shrimp, mussels, salad, crackers, aged cheese, and 3 huge Langoustines! It was delicious, I had a second beer and enjoed my meal and conversation with the barman very much. There are several restaurants here, as well as a seafood market during the day. I would definitely come back here on my next visit- highly recommended!

Nice upscale restaurant serving local fresh seafood…read more Offers coat check upon arrival. Walking distance to most of the downtown hotels. Started with some entrees for apps - cod balls and mussels. Cod balls were meaty and tasty. The mussels were in a light white sauce. For my main, went with the buffet of seafood. The great part of this is that they bring you refills. Smoked shrimp, shrimp, crab claws and langostines (think giant crawfish or baby lobster). I didn't care for the smoked shrimp (too Smokey for me) and the regular shrimp were a little on the small side for the effort of taking off the shell. The langostine tails were full of flavor, claws were hard to get at. Highlight of the meal was the local crab claws. Reminded me of stone crab, but not a sweet. For dinner had the creams brûlée with rum and violet ice cream instead of the sorbet. The rum vanilla was tasty, the violet was too strong for me. Great restaurant, great service, will return on my next trip.

The atmosphere is undoubtedly with its cozy Swedish design charms: sophisticated, delicate details, modern, and old world. I don't know how else to describe it. The host graciously ordered for us and recommended the blini with löj caviar as the starter. It's a perfect bite of creaminess (from blini) and crispness of the löj caviar mixed with the sour cream, chives, shallots, and dill. Next came the seafood platter with lobsters, crawfishes, mussels, and Swedish shrimps. Everything on the plate were cooked simple and the way it is suppose to taste, fresh and sweet. For the main course turbot with fresh beets and soft poached egg over fresh wasabi roots were divine (as if I had any more stomach space)!! The turbot was surprisingly thick and meaty, fresh beets had an unforgettable crisp clean finish, and when I was expecting the running yolk of a poach egg to spread into the wasabi root, the yolk instead was creamy soft that together with the fresh wasabi roots were perfectly harmonized. Just when I thought the meal was over, came more Swedish (and European) hospitality to finish the meal with cheese plate, coffee or tea. I wish I knew more about cheese to tell you the experience. The meal was so wonderful that I have to write about it; however, before I end, I must tell you about the drinking culture too :) The evening started with a glass of Champagne and another. With the starter, we toasted to glass of schnapps with the blini and löj caviar. Move to a bottle of Bourgogne Chardonnay (oaky flavor...tres interesting) since we were eating the turbot. Later came 3 more glasses of wine to pair with cheese plate, and we finished with Berta grappa and tea but not before bottomless Champagne throughout the meal. Toast to the host , this was an unforgettable meal!!

It was a bit of a trek from my hotel, but an enjoyable walk nonetheless. Upon arriving, the place was busy, but we managed to snag a table outside. Although the inside looked very cozy, I was happy to sit out in the cool evening air. We were given menus, and our server told us the specials. We ordered beers for now, but planned on ordering wine with dinner. Asking the server for his recommendations, we decided to share the Garlic Gratinated Langoustines. For mains, I ordered the Fish au Gratin, as he said they were known for the dish, and my dining partner ordered the Catch of the Day, Cod Loin. We received our beers and then ordered a nice bottle of white to be served with dinner. They brought the langoustines, and they were absolutely incredible! Fresh and large, and tasty! We were also brought some yummy bread and butter. Our mains arrived and boy, was he right- the Fish au Gratin was absolutely delicious, the sauce creamy and not overwhelming the fish. The wine paired perfectly, and we enjoyed our dinners immensely. We ordered one dessert to share, as well as a glass of port wine. The dessert was odd; it had a cucumber taste to it, not a fan, but hey, it's nice to try new things. Overall, this was one of my favorite meals in Gothenburg, the restaurant was great as was the old town neighborhood of Haga. Highly recommended!

The restaurant has a small number of hotel rooms for those wanting a little romantic b&b experience. We have come here 2 years in a row now because our sailboat was harbored just on the other side of the bridge, Mossholmen and a pleasant walk away. Ot kind of reminds me of Tiberon, where boats can pull up at the cay and you can hop off for a lunch and then back on again to put out to the next port. They have a decent selection of local brews as well and you can order fresh fish done in traditional ways. Everything traditional is done well. The forays into non traditional Swedish home cooking are not as successful and I would recommend avoiding. The view is fantastic, the atmosphere is just posh enough but not too stuffy. The wine selection was quite good to accompany seafood dishes.
