I have AGS. My levels are .32; anything over .10 is positive so mine are nearly three times the…read moreminimum positive result. The Public Health nurse who called me said I should see an allergist and get a prescription for epi pens because AGS is weird and even with low levels I could have an anaphylactic reaction (and as it turns out the absolute gastrointestinal misery I went through that spurred me to get the testing *was* a form of anaphylactic reaction). Unfortunately I chose this place. Over $600 to be told the AGS levels on my blood test were "likely a false positive" and therefore no Epi was prescribed. Visit notes list several things that were not actually done and says I likely have "food intolerance", not an allergy. Completely disregarded the fact that AGS is a reaction to a SUGAR molecule while the limited scratch tests he did on me check reactions to PROTEINS (which is why they are NOT reliable for testing for AGS). Did NOT prescribe an Epi for me, so I just starved my way through a two-week camping trip for fear of potential reaction. My visit notes also suggest a "pork sausage challenge" at the office over 4 hours to rule out AGS. That's NOT the way AGS works. With AGS you can eat something one time and not react at all, and have the exact same thing two days later and have a bad reaction. It's a crap shoot. It's just plain dangerous to suggest to someone they're not AGS based on the fact that they don't react within a few hours to *one* in-office challenge. What happens when someone celebrates with a nice steak dinner because this doctor said they had a false positive, and they wake up in hospital or worse because *that's* when their body decided to react?? I also do NOT appreciate the complete lack of transparency with respect to pricing. Prices and fees should be clearly communicated BEFORE testing so the patient can make an informed decision as to whether to proceed. I feel like the over $600 I was charged for this one short visit with minor testing was a massive overcharge. I won't be going back.

This to me was not professional at all. Dr Vaughn was not nice at all. And because of this I had a panic attack and needed a female nurse to be in the room. I would definitely not recommend go somewhere else. I should have.

Dr Young, 5 years ago referred us to their affiliate allergy center next door, and they said my…read moredaughter was allergic to everything, after a prick test. These people were NOT Board Certified from before 2018- until who know if they are now after their submitted my complaint to the Iowa Medical Review Board. Details below: I took my daughter here to see Dr. Etan Young for coughing symptoms. On the first visit, Dr. Etan Young did not use his stethoscope to listen to her chest or back, instead he listened to me narrate her history over the last few years (of her intermittently getting a cough that would not go away for a couple of weeks). He told me he did not need to listen to her chest because from what I had told him he was sure it was asthma and to continue using the ibuterol inhaler and recommended I get in with the allergy center. He said the allergy center was a separate entity managed through them. I set an appointment at the allergy center at that time which was ,"United Allergy", the same building and down the hall from where we were seen by Dr. Young. As suggested by Dr. Young, we made an appointment at that particular allergy center. They conducted a prick test and determined Emilie was allergic to everything (all grasses, trees, weeds, mold, dust mites, feathers, cock roaches ). They said we should start her on allergy shots right away. The first 2 round of shots were done in their office and after ensuring we could confidently administer the shots on our own, they instructed us to administer the shots to her at home and return for the new vials containing higher doses each month. Once we were made aware of my daughter's allergies, we made sure to do everything possible to make her less susceptible to coming in contact with these allergens as much as possible. (We purchased special pillowcase and mattress covers, paid for a deep cleaning on our home without harsh chemicals, had our entire homes ducts cleaned, removed all stuffed animals from her bed, bought chemical free products, and kept our daughter inside on high pollen days (there were many times she was not outside playing with friends because of her alleged expansive allergies. We were very fortunate that an encounter of the mother of one of Emilies classmates, Dr Young, 5 years ago referred us to their affiliate allergy center next door, and they said my daughter was allergic to everything, after a prick test.
