But what I like the most is that it is a Scripture-based church. No fluff. They just study different books of the Bible throughout the year. Not only have I learned a lot, it has encouraged me to do my own reading at home and I feel more established in my faith! My wife and I sought out this service because she was in genuine need of prayer and spiritual support. We were asked to make an initial payment of $25 upfront, with an additional $75 requested afterward --framed as a "donation." As a ministry operating in the name of Jesus Christ, I believe donations must remain truly voluntary. Requiring payment and labeling it a "donation" feels deceptive and, frankly, borders on fraudulent. Prayer and ministry should be freely given, not sold. The session itself was deeply disappointing and inadequate. My wife was respectful throughout--she spoke calmly, answered the facilitator's questions honestly, and never raised her voice or showed disrespect. Yet the facilitator appeared personally offended by her responses and seemed unwilling or unable to continue effectively. The prayer we desperately hoped for never materialized. Instead of compassion and strength, we encountered weakness and fragility that prevented any meaningful help. Even more troubling, one of the very first topics raised -before we had even fully walked in the door was whether the same card could be charged for the remaining $75. That set the tone: a cold, transactional welcome that ranks among the least hospitable I have ever experienced in any church or ministry setting. I chose to overlook it in the moment because my wife truly needed help, but in the end she was let down when she was most vulnerable. We deserve a full refund of the $25 already paid, no further charges attempted, and a sincere apoloav. I hope the leadership reflects honestly on these practices rather spiritualizing this dysfunction. Prospective visitors should be aware: if you come seeking prayer, expect to encounter mandatory fees disguised as donations, a highly transactional approach, and the risk of an inadequate session if your honest answers don't align with the facilitator's expectations. Proceed with caution.

I discovered this church from my in-laws, who have been attending this church for years…read more Never being raised to attend church, nor being raised in a religious household, I was and am a Believer and the Christian Faith speaks to me and gives me great comfort. My first impression of this beautiful church is exactly that...it's a simply gorgeous campus filled with plenty of parking, lush landscaping, and there are several modern, beautiful buildings on campus. They have a gathering area outside, where you can grab a cup of coffee before or after service. The worship buildings are beautifully and simply appointed, and they are comfortable and the seating is ample and comfortable as well. The "stage" where the pastors lead service is high enough where you can see the stage from where you sit. They have a large screen in back of the stage for video and the audio that accompanies it is top notch! Each service we've been to on Sunday is beautifully and highly focused on musical worship, which I've never experienced at churches before to this stellar degree. The church has a nice group of very talented musicians and vocalists who perform so well together and include a video backdrop on stage on the screen the lyrics so parishioners can sing along. The ministers he tee are fantastic, down to earth and make you feel at home. I have enjoyed listening to each of their sermons and always leave here feeling the love of God and of my fellow man and woman in attendance , as everyone here is so nice and friendly! Staff later said they had not seen an incident and had not noticed an injury, so I recognize they may not have had firsthand knowledge of what occurred. My concern now is how the report was handled afterward. I expected a child-safety concern to be taken seriously, documented, and followed up on with clear communication about supervision and next steps. Instead, the director emphasized that my initial message of concern about a potential incident had "hurt the feelings of the group leader" and suggested I pray about my reaction. That felt extremely dismissive given that I was raising a valid concern involving my child being physically hurt by someone at their church. I encourage parents to attend at their own risk. Ask how injuries or child reports are documented, when parents are notified, what the adult-to-child supervision looks like in practice, and how leaders respond when an incident was not witnessed by any adults. I will not be returning to this church, not for Awana, nor for any other reason. God bless.

My friend also has incontinent issues as well which causes her to use the toilet frequently. I'm revealing all this because three women who were seated at the left of the altar were obviously laughing at my friend shuffling off to the toilet. This is totally uncalled for and not very Christian behaviour. There were friendly people here though. It was too high church for my friend anyway. Not recommended.

The badges make it easier to remember peoples names and almost all the regulars wear them. The wafers are fresh, the "blood of Christ" is actually wine instead of grape juice which makes the experience more traditional. Easy going, fun loving people, yet very formal marks all the boxes for me. The choir sounds like angels from above because they are professional and are seated in the upper loft behind the pews. The Sunday adult school at 10:30 is wildly entertaining as father Todd is much like every student's favorite professor. He makes learning the Bible fun and often uses images of fine art paintings that illustrate the lesson. His contagious enthusiasm for learning and teaching reminds me of Robin Williams in the movie Dead Poets Society. Bravo Fr. Todd!!!

It is about the people. It is about feeling welcome…read more It is about connecting. Journey Church is one of those churches where you can't just sneak in and listen to the service and sneak out. You will be greeted by an usher. During the service there is a time to greet people around you. If you are new, during this time several of the members will come over to welcome you. You will be offered a bag of goodies on the way out which includes a Bible. The pastor, Dave Huusko, shakes everyone's hands as they leave the service. (Of course, you can escape through one of the side doors if you prefer to avoid greeting the Pastor. I believe that Dave knows when I plan to show up to this church and writes the sermon for me! The sermons are always touching and thought provoking. If you like contemporary music, you will want to attend the second service. There is a band led by Len Jones. The music is always touching and puts you in the moment to worship. The denomination of Journey Church is Presbyterian. The first service is very traditional and includes many of the traditional doxologies, songs, and programs.

I have been attending this church occasionally and can really appreciate the wisdom and…read moremotivation-filled homilies given by the pastor Fr. Renier, other priest Fr. Cleetus and Deacon Jim. My mom is also a fan of this parish and enjoys listening to Father Renier. I also appreciate their gift shop within the church which in my opinion, has some pretty reasonably-priced items. I've already purchased different statues and gifts for house blessings for family and friends. I'd say that in all of Sac County, this is the only gift shop that I've been to so far that have a variety of items from bracelets, prayer cards, Saint cards, Holy Family and Saint statues, holy water don't and many other things. So it's definitely my fave place to visit for gifts. Inside the church, there is beautiful Divine Mercy chapel area where you can light candles and also pray to St. Joseph. And lastly, the youth choir in the evening mass 6pm on Sunday is always wonderful to attend to hear the youth sing their beautiful voices. If you are in Folsom check this church out.
