I first visited this shop during a samhain themed magical market they held, and it was so packed it was impossible to really browse like I would have wanted, although the market itself was lovely. I recently came back, and this review is primarily for that experience. The store itself is warm (at times uncomfortably so) but they do absolutely everything they can to keep folks comfortable while shopping including cold water, a fan by the books that is incredible, and they have some seats where one can rest if they get overly warm. I suspect the store temp itself is out of their control given the care with which they make their customers comfortable. As i wandered, Ash checked in on me several times. It was never in a way that made me feel watched or uncomfortable, and always about different products I was looking at, checking to see if I had any questions. The amount of attention felt personal but not overbearing as some small shops like this can be. We had a bit of a fun chat about crystals, which is one of his specialties. I will say the products there are high quality, and some of the prices reflect it. While some things were more than I'd prefer to spend for the item, it wasn't because the value isn't there, it just meant I couldn't buy thr whole store, although I wish I could have! I bought a statue, some items in jars, a cast iron mini cauldron because I use them for safe burning in ritual, and a fairy stone that was unique and calling me. I finished with an impromptu 20 minute tarot reading from Isabella. I have been reading tarot cards 27 years, and haven't had a professional reading in almost a long, but it just felt right in the moment. It was a general reading about my next life steps, and while the specifics are my own to hold onto, I will say that the information she shared directly reflected some very specific things about my life. I generally view tarot less as predictive and more as an exercise in reflection or reading influences, and this met that and then some. There were even a couple of times that specific things were mentioned that while I remained neutral didn't quite fit my way of being (little things like writing vs voicing thoughts), and as soon as the initial statement was made, she would say or.. and then say the exact alternative that would be more aligned with my personality. The fact that it happened at least 3 times, and that it wasn't just a series of examples but almost a self correction to what aligned with my energy, told me a lot about the connection Isabella has to her clients. In addition to the incredibly on point reading, she had such a warm and welcoming energy that I'm already tempted to plan my next reading, even though the reading reinforced my intuition about what I should be doing. Reading your own cards is great, but sometimes your opinions and bias can prevent you from considering other options. Having an incredible reader like Isabella available to give an outside read is a great tool. I will absolutely be back! read more

I wanted to love this place so much but I'm afraid my experiences have been horrible after repeated attempts to "give them a chance". Firstly, the "crystal guy" whose name I believe is Ash is insanely awful. He has the worst customer service in the world. He's repeatedly attempted to rush me out of the shop by trying to rush me into a purchase when I've been in the shop for less than 60 seconds and haven't had any time to browse the shop. I've also asked him repeated questions about items in the shop and he's either ignored me or given me the most condescending response - treating me like I'm the stupidest person who has ever existed. I've attempted several different services here with several different practitioners that have been increasingly terrible. First I got a tarot reading here and the tarot reader was on her phone for half of the 60 minute appointment and was so clearly disinterested in answering questions about my reading. Second, I tried to get a tarot reading with a second tarot reader but during the course of the session, an entirely different employee entered our session room to gossip, completely derailing our reading (that I still had to pay full price for). Thankfully it was only a 20 minute reading but it's still so frustrating to have any reading derailed like that. Third, I went in for an astrology reading and the astrologer messed up my chart and failed to get several of my signs correct. I don't know if she failed to get my birth location right (I wasn't born in the Bay Area ...) or if she put in my time of birth wrong (ie: inputting AM instead of PM) but there was no confidence in this reading as the astrologer couldn't even figure out my chart. Fourth, was the same problem as the second. I went in for a 60 minute tarot reading and yet again an employee who wasn't my tarot reader entered the room with a "hey bitches!" completely derailing my expensive reading with an attempt at a gossip session. Both the tarot reader and the employee who interrupted the session were two different employees from situation number 2. Fifth, I went in for a 20 minute tarot appointment and for some reason they didn't take my payment at the beginning of the appointment. Well it turns out that the tarot reader turned the session from a 20 minute reading into a 60 minute reading without my consent! I was expecting to pay about $45 for the session and it turned into over $100 because the reader refused to be prompted to end the session at my request of 20 minutes and I had to pay over double what I was expecting to for the session. Sixth, I went for a short 10 minute reading with an astrologer here and when I tried to ask questions about my chart all she said was "if you want to know more, you can book another appointment through my website". AKA if I wanted to ask questions about my chart, I would need to pay more for extra time ... Finally, the employee turnover here is absolutely crazy! I have listed several bad experiences here but I did, at one point, have good experiences with practitioners here. But it seems that Feathered Outlaw burns through their employees so fast that as soon as I find a practitioner here that is actually good, accurate, and reliable - they disappear within a few months - making it impossible for me to find and keep a consistent and reliable practitioner here. Again, I want to love this place but the customer care and customer service here is terrible. How can I trust this place will have reliable tarot and astrology readers when their readers are already bad enough AND there's such massive turnover that you can't keep the same tarot or astrology reader for more than 3-6 months because the readers are gone so swiftly. I think Feathered Outlaw needs to reconsider its core values and what they're actually trying to provide to the community. read more

They cleanse your crystals for you as well. Went in after brunch because one friend really loves this shop and wanted to buy some stuff. Luckily they allowed dogs because we all had our dogs with us. They even gave them Milk Bones. A lot of selection of metaphysical items and well decorated. Incense was in the air. There was a tarot card reader set up in the front of the shop. Love this shop! Don't live in the area, so don't come often but am always happy to stop by when I am. Ash is extremely knowledgeable and kind and it is always a delight to be in his presence. They have a good selection of items from tarot cards to spiritual waters, crystals to candles and more! Another thing I enjoy is that they also carry accessories such as earrings, sunglasses and rings that are very beautiful! Not too expensive (as some stores can be more) but also not necessarily cheap either. I find the pricing to be reasonable on most items and a tad overpriced for a few. But I understand that this is a small businesses so the prices don't bother me much. Had an issue with a tarot deck and was nervous to bring it up but Ash helped solve it, which made me feel better and made me want to shop here more often. I just have to preface with the fact that I'm a highly skeptical person with a lot of reservations and questions. I first went into this shop with lots of doubts, judginess, and preconceived notions. Upon crossing the threshold, a lot of that was eased with just the most amazing vibe. The feel of the place, the flow, all of my senses completely engaged, and just the biggest welcoming and genuine staff was disarming in the best way. You can tell everyone in there is fully committed to their crafts and services, knowledgeable, and just so friendly, like your favorite worn t-shirt that's been around forever. I lived in Alameda how did I not know about this place!!! Reiki in a great little unique shop! So now on to the reason for my visit, Reiki? What does that even mean? If you're like me that was probably your initial thought but now I am a believer thanks to my session with Karen. Karen is a natural healer and knew a lot about essential oils. I figured a session couldn't hurt, but i was surprised it REALLY HELPED. The session was super relaxing (I actually feel asleep) and I could feel the shift in my energy the next day. I felt more focused to do tasks that I had been putting off for awhile. I seriously think I found my new favorite store, and a bonus: free delivery in Alameda! I placed an order online and it was hard to not add everything to my cart. The customer service is exceptional. When one item was out of stock, they called me (I missed it) and they called again. When I answered, the employee was so warm and friendly and was proactive in finding a solution. While they didn't have the book I initially ordered, they made a fantastic recommendation for a book they just finished and outlined the ways in which it was similar to the out of stock book. They really know their inventory and what they're doing! When I called a few days later to ask if I could pick up my order instead of delivery, they knew who I was when I called and offered to wrap the gifts I purchased for my mom and sister. I have lived in Alameda almost my entire life and didn't even know it has been on the island for 3 years! :) I was on the hunt for sage, since I found out my usual store in Oakland had closed down. The store has a special vibe filled with candles, jewelry, stones, crystals, and vintage clothing. There is even a section of products made "in-house," including hand sanitizer. Melissa greeted my sister & I so kindly after we got to explore the store more. She also gladly helped me find the sage! We chatted about COVID-19 and informed us that she could give us samples of the hand sanitizer. The product smells so nice since it's made with natural herbs. I strongly recommend for people with sensitive skin (like myself), since the usual stuff severely dries my hands and made my hands feel so soft. They have jewelry and art from local people and lots of cool vintage clothing. They also host art soirées and make & takes where you learn how to make natural beauty products.
