A month later, I had still not received my 2019 refund that was supposed to be mailed as a paper check. June 21, I go back to check on my my refund status for 2019. The clerk had a very nasty attitude (most of the staff have attitudes) and said I should call the IRS. I called the IRS on June 27. It turns out that whoever prepared my taxes did not include my apartment number and didn't even bother to ask me for it. Now, the IRS has to put a trace on my check and I have to wait an additional 6 weeks for my refund. As of yet, I have not received my 2021 refund either. Not only will I not use their very unprofessional services again, but if anyone asks, I'll tell them to stay the hell away from Burns Rodriguez and associates!!!

Doing a Google search, this was the only place that was listed offering notary services (Yelp…read moredidn't have anything listed). I called two days ago to make sure and because I needed notary as well as faxing done, I asked if they offered faxing and that was a yes to both! I headed over here first thing in the morning today. It's a small shop that has a desk to the right, a private room behind that desk area, a bathroom to the left of the private room, chairs in the "waiting area," and another desk area right when you enter. There was only one man working today and he notarized my documents ($2) and then faxed my 20 pages ($1/page) to where it needed to go. He is a quiet man so don't expect a lot of talking while things are being done. As we were waiting for my fax to go through, he was multi-tasking: cleaning the floor, moving some furniture around, organizing cabinet drawers, etc. When I called 2 days ago, the guy quoted me a charge for the first sheet I was faxing ($2 or $3...can't remember) and then each additional sheet afterwards would be $1. I never paid that first sheet fee, but I think that's because he notarized something as well. All in all, this place did what I asked for. Price was reasonable (paid $5 notary in CA and ~$1.50 per sheet for faxing at a Kinko's in Manhattan). He's open M-F 9AM to 5PM, but for tax season he's open from 9AM to 8PM (not sure if that's daily).

I had a sensitive and unique issue that could only be addressed by a CPA. But not just any CPA, I needed someone that was knowledgeable and would be able to defend their work in case of an audit. After searching around, I came across Ahad & Co and what a relief and blessing they are. I simply called them, explained my issue, then I was connected with one of their professionals. The CPA confirmed that it was something they could tackle and we began the process. At the time, I was working with Tarikur, an absolute treasure to work with! He explained what needed to be done, asked all pertinent questions, and guided me thru the process. In the end, I came back with an awesome refund, and greater than that, I had a peace of mind with regard to my situation. Fast forward to 2026, I did not hesitate to have them prepare my taxes again. Unfortunately, Tarikur is no longer there, but I was assisted by Akram. There were some delays but he completed my taxes before the deadline and his did a great job preparing everything. I found it very easy to review my return and understand his rationale for his preparation. Furthermore, I received a great return again and I could not be more pleased! Aside from my experience with the staff, I really appreciate their customer portal. There is no need to email anything because you can upload all of your documents to their secure portal. You can also chat with your rep, pay your invoices, and download your returns, all in one place. I especially appreciated that as a returning customer, all my documents were there, so Akram was able to see what was done last year. Super efficient! In terms of pricing, they will seem high if you are used to doing your own taxes or maybe you've gone to a local tax preparer. However, it's important to understand that these are true tax experts who can navigate any situation, so you're in good hands. If you are dealing with a sensitive tax situation and want a peace of mind, I highly recommend using them. I filed on the deadline last year and ahad&co, cpa literally…read morenever filed my taxes. Just didn't file them at all. I reached out to them months later inquiring about the filing for another matter and they casually informed me they never filed them. They offered plenty of excuses, blamed me for filing them within the legal submission parameters (i.e. on/by April 15th), and offered zero compensation for their egregious error. They actually proceeded to charge me the full amount to file and even expected me to pay the late-filing & extension fees that I incurred as a direct and sole result of an accounting firm's inability to file taxes! Every single representative I have dealt with is allergic to accountability and deals exclusively in excuses. Shameful and unprofessional behavior all around... especially from Edderkys Gonzalez and the ceo, Ahad Ali. He is full of excuses all while admitting they screwed up. They offered $100 off of preparation service for this year...I immediately declined. Then they offered $200 off and I immediately declined. That is a fraction of what they cost me already from last year in late penalties alone and the ceo told me the absolute most he could discount tax preparation at his own company was $200. Clearly a lie. He's the ceo of a small, private, company...not the ceo of Goldman Sachs.
