This is a recently upgraded playground in the trendy little Croydon shopping strip that is well…read moreshaded with trees, has a good fence all the way around and the major features of a train station directly next to it. Why is this a feature? Well this is a great place to come and teach your toddler to look at trains, what they are, how they operate and what happens around a railway crossing where the big flashing gantry comes down to stop the cars from going. The train is very visible from the playground. Also there's a theme in the playground that runs along the train line (pun intended) so that you can play on a story book type train that is stationary and looks like it couldn't really hurt a fly, and still observe the real train coming and going. This is a NO DOG playground - so leave the dog at home this time, because dogs don't understand trains or toddlers quite the way we'd like them to, and they require special instructions; so do not bring the dog. I repeat, do not bring the dog. I think it is brilliant because the train and train line is a dangerous thing for kids. It is such a fascinating place and seems perfect to walk along. There was even children recently killed on a train line, so it is worth thinking about an outing or two, on the train to this very playground for a picnic and a watch. What do trains do? They stop at the station, people get on, and then they chuff off. The cars stop for them and people stop for them. There are even elements of trains in the seating under the shady trees so you can point to something and say "That's a bit of the track that the trains run on," so you have a lot to learn as a grown up and as a kid in this very special playground. Yay. Or rather I should say "Whoohoo!"

A great spot to relax after you've hit the Queen Street bakeries and clothing stores. This…read moreplayground sits right next to the train station, so trains stop regularly to the delight of the kids. This playground is split into a large section with a nice shady seating area, and then a smaller section for toddlers, complete with train to climb on. They have a very fun see saw to play on here as well as a basketball hoop and a barbecue area and plenty of space. Unfortunately there's no toilets here, so you have to go down to the shops if your little one wants to go. Otherwise a great place to relax and have a swing and watch the Choo Choo Trains go chugging by.

This one was a real pain in the behind to get to with streets that you can only travel along in…read morecertain directions and the train line right behind it as well. However once I got here I was quite surprised. It really was very different. For starters it's really quite large an area once you get there. Much bigger than it appears on a map. Not really okay for footy or the likes though as it is very undulating land but it makes it nicer I think. With the little hills built up and pathways throughout. Plenty of shelters, tables, seating, shade, water, even TOILETS!!!! And a tennis court over the other side near the newer looking playground. The older playground looks like a huge fort with plenty of woodwork in it as well. It's great having so many different activities in different are's of this park. You could end up here for a couple of hours easy just checking them all out and going from one to the next. And with toilets onsite why not bring a picnic, or even just some snacks, and spend a few hours here. If you drive best parking area is at end of Pinda Street so try head up there. Otherwise it is like a maze the streets around this one.

This really is a massive space right in the middle of suburbia. There's the most luscious green…read moreoval with a perfectly maintained cricket pitch in the centre at present. There's no fencing around the outside but it's not too busy in the surrounding streets, especially over where the 2, yes 2, playgrounds are! Which is the opposite side to where the clubrooms are, over the rear side of the oval. There are two separate playgrounds but close by to each other. One of them even has a BBQ right nearby. Plenty of seating, tables and chairs, sheltered area's as well as shade from tree's, all around this reserve. Plus there are some tennis courts over near the toilets. Plenty of parking in the streets surrounding it but the if you want ot do a BBQ and be near the playgrounds I would recommend parking at the dead end of Birdwood Avenue. Really easy and closeby. Not too far to walk to the toilets. Great place to spend an entire day out! Bring some extra things to play with on the grassed area's and maybe some tennis stuff and you could spend ages here. Kids could easily be kept occupied for hours at this one.

The only bad part about this playground is the lack of fencing (although it's not really needed I…read moredon't think here) and the bad parking as the park is basically at the end of three dead ends. However it is a nice, very shady, very green area. It looks new and fresh, or maybe just recently had a little lift. And on the day I went it appeared to be a well used area as well. The playground has some great different items in it to play on that made the kids enjoy it more. There's also a sheltered area, plenty of seating, drinking fountains, rubbish bin, even a couple of tennis courts. The grassed space is beautiful and there are enough buildings, shelters, tree's, etc to be able to have a great game of chasey or even hide and seek here. I love parks where you can play heaps of games without actually having to take anything. There are no BBQ's but it wold be just devine to have a lovely picnic here.

Then you can walk all the way around the reserve and oval on the pathways pretty much. There's plenty of shading parking as well on Sutherland Road. There are BBQ's and plenty of seating, with tables as well in some area's. There's doggy bags provided near the playground area. The playground wasn't large by any means but would be okay to hang out at for a little while at least. If you plan on staying longer then bring a ball or frisbee as well. Still no toilets :-(

This is a really nice space that runs between four streets but almost right along two of them. It's…read morea lovely and green grassed all the way through with a playground up each end. Like two full but completely separate playgrounds. Plus, not in the pics, there was a full size tennis court and toilets! The toilets were probably a part of the Community Centre which is also on the reserve land and available for hire. Would be a great place for a family event or reunion of some sorts and then you would have the additional facilities of the centre itself. Plenty of seating, shade from tree's, water fountains (yes more than one!), shelter and FUN! Also still plenty of open space for ball games or frisbee's. So bring some other toys along to make the stay more enjoyable. Only down side is no fencing but it really was not a busy street on the side the playgrounds are on, facing Fourteenth Street.
