The wife and I decided to celebrate our first year of marriage at this place…read more Now being a foodie, I have heard good things about Read's, it's had a Michelin star for some time, so there standards are very high. We arrived on time and were shown to the drinks lounge, where we would have a drink and mull over the food menu, we felt a little edgy and a bit out of place, all very swanky, but after being there for a bit, we settled into the settings and the people around us. After looking at the menu we couldn't quite decide on what to have, so we opted for the seven course taster menu. The food was amazing, fine dining at it's best and the service matched the food, they really did look after us. The price of the seven course was £60 a head, quite pricey but for Michelin star service and food, it's pretty reasonable. Our whole experience was great and one will won't forget in a long time. Well recommended.

It has an adorable vegetable garden that they use for some of their menu veggies. It also has a really lovely outside patio for drinks and coffee. It was our before and after meal spot. My foot was delicious. I got cesar salad, salmon, and chocolate cake. They were super nice to Matt's niece who is 3. They made her special kids food. She seemed to love it too. The staff was on top of their game. I am so glad this place exists and I recommend it to anyone in Kent who has some time/money.

We were pleasantly greeted and served from a wide selection of ales (Harveys, Timothy Taylor, Adnams, Badger, Whitstable, Wells, Fullers, Sharps, Gadds and more!). The fire gently glowed in the fireplace and everyone exuded a sense of wellbeing, especially the various dogs which were (gently) gamboling about. Lunch had clearly satisfied many of the punters present. We weren't in the market for food but perused the menu - impressive without being too fussy, hit the right note. Loos were clean and functional. Overall ambience was good. The Phoenix Tavern was well lit, without being brassy. Decoration was unfussy yet smart. I'll be back!

Unusually for Faversham not a Shepherd Neame pub. But this is no bad thing with a strong selection…read moreof beers and lagers on tap. This is a good drinking pub and a great pub lunch with an inventive menu that includes Pasta, Seafood, traditional pub lunch dishes and a very good tapas menu. There is a separate restaurant area for the evening meals. Tend to be more expensive but not over priced. Food is very good also but I have only had the evening meal there once. A good sized garden as well. One of my favourite pubs in Faversham to drink and lunch! Rare in that it combines a good drinking pub with decent food.

A very popular Indian restaurant in the centre of Faversham, which we visited during a short visit…read morerecently. The interior is plain - one long room with the bar/reception at the entrance - with tables along each side. But they use proper white table linen, which always goes down well with me. We arrived early on a Friday evening as we hadn't booked, and they managed to fit us in. (So worth booking.) We had papadums (£1 each) and the chutney tray (£3) to start, which were good (nicely spiced lime pickle), followed by Onion Bhaji and Vegetable Samosas (£4.95 each). Both were obviously homemade, tasty and nicely presented, and not oily (which Bhaji can be). For mains, my partner had the Chicken Tikka Passanda, a mild curry with coconut cream (£12.95) and I had the Vegetable Dhansak (£10.95), a fairly hit curry made with lentils and tomatoes. Both were very good, and came with fragrantly spiced pilau rice. Portions are generous, and our neighbours asked for containers to take their leftovers home. Service was very efficient given how busy they were. With a beer each, service charge, and water, the bill came to a very modest £54.

The manager, Jack and his staff are to be commended on their friendliness and helpfulness. The food is always good and presentation and service is brilliant. Pricing is very reasonable too. I have mentioned that the "Prince of India" has to be probably one of the best and this is borne out by the fact, the restaurant have gained some highly prestigious certificated, regional as well as local awards over the last few months and I for one congratulate them on these. Keep it up Jack... You're doing well!
