If you're down to scrounge, this place might be for you (I'd just urge you to wash your hands after). That said, I specifically went here today because I needed a stapler. Mine went missing when I moved (probably in some box I've yet to unpack in my storage unit), and there's zero need to purchase a brand new stapler when I know I can get an old reliable Swingline from a thrift place like this (plus, I remembered on my first amble through here that they had a whole basket of staplers). Sure enough, I was able to acquire a stapler. But you can bet your ass that I brought along some staples to test out said staplers... the first one I picked up had a busted spring, but the second was fully functional. Both had been priced at $3. I mention this simply as a word of warning to consider testing before you buy.) I also picked up a bobbin thread case and a quart sized bag of crayons (both priced at $3) while I was there. This place is good for finding the kind of craft stuff your granny would keep around at a low price. And honestly, you're doing the environment a BIG favor to snag this kind of thing off a thrift store shelf rather than "convenience buy" it off Amazon or whatever. You can save money and feel good about yourself. The rest of the store has stuff like glassware, clothing, kids stuff, and holiday decor. It's not all amazing stuff. I reckon a lot of folks donate stuff they don't care to sort through when an elderly parent finally kicks it. The employee behind the checkout counter was a little slow to bother acknowledging me, but once we were interacting, they were friendly enough and wished me a good day; seemed like they were happy I actually bought something instead of just browsing.

Bedding from quilts to sheets. Pillows throw pillows knitted blankets. She also has a variation of kitchen appliances, kitchen utensils all the way to ice skates baskets, figurines. In the back is where she keeps her furniture. The furniture can be anywhere from nowaday to antique just depending on what she has in the shop at the time. She also has bed mattresses headboards footboards lamps pictures and picture frames. I myself the shop there because you never know what she's going to have in her shop. It's always a surprise to see something that you haven't seen in years, say that old kitchen utensil that they don't make anymore that you loved to cook with, bam there it is on her shelf. I love pulling up to see all of the craft projects that range in such a variation from something that you would put in a farm home to in your brand new house that you were just looking for that one piece. That mouth drop piece that you have to have. So no Jan's is not a thrift store. Jan's, she is so much more then a store, she is a person and a very delightful person to see when you walk in that door. Happy shopping and remember to pin on your GPS.

Today I visited the new location that opened TODAY 3/3/22 (3006 Texas Ave S, St Louis Park) -- great luck!! There's plenty of parking and the space is laid out beautifully. You can really see all the items and everywhere you turn, there's something new. My mom and I like to frequent this shop to see what's new, and I think we'll come even more now that there's a new location! Be sure to follow the owners Instagram (@retrowanderlust) to keep up with any sales she has or if she has changes to her schedule. I believe she's planning on doing a bit of e-commerce, so that will be fun to see as well! We've bought some dresser drawers from RW before, and today my mom picked up a beautiful large blue tablecloth for only $28. She also bought a concrete candle for $14. I'd say pieces are priced fairly -- sturdy and unique antiques are an investment! That said, I think there's something in this store for any budget, there's a wide range of pricing. I definitely recommend going to Retro Wanderlust, and now, even better -- it's in a fun part of St Louis Park. Make a fun day of it or just go to browse the fun collection and go home. I'll be back. Thanks Karen!
