Chains (pub/restaurants) are generally pretty good in the States, generous portions, great service, not so this Beefeater. Service was dodgy, how is it some waiters have the ability to studiously ignore you? I've learned to just get up and go looking for your waiter, which really rattles them... The place was filthy, litter all over the floors, paper, bits of food, the table was sticky, and the room cold and drafty (due I suspect to over powered air-conditioning). They didn't have the beers they advertised in their menu. I ordered Salmon with broccoli, the salmon was okay if small, and the broccoli looked like three tiny pieces of limp grass. My wife ordered the same but without sauce and when I said I'd have her sauce, I though the waiter was going to have heart attack!! The place came across like a worn out service stop on the M4. We have 2 kids but had to ask for activity packs. The veg with the main course was overcooked almost to pulp and my wife's steak was just gristle. We complained to the manager (who looked about 12!) and he offered us free coffee (which we don't drink) and we all know how much it costs them to serve, then tried a free ice cream ! Any where else would have not charged for the steak ! After a big row we left disgusted. The staff have not heard of customer service and the food was worse than any pub or cafe I have ever been in.
