Lawrence and Julia Murphy's hideaway in Emsworth is an absolute gem. They use largely fresh
local produce for most of their dishes, but if the need arises they will reach out as far as France to satisfy their customers.
I had a chicken terrine to commence proceedings which was wonderful and resembled a fine piece of mosaic before I had to spoil everything by eating it. This was followed by a delicious loin of veal cooked perfectly pink and accompanied by lightly cooked kale and suitably al dente broccolini.
Desserts are mouth wateringly tempting, although I had sufficient will power to pass, but out of the corner of my eye, I did spot one of my companions devour a lemon posset with an individual lemon sponge cake and lemon ice cream. This was proclaimed a triumph.
