This place is very touristy and the staff aren't very willing to help unless they know you are local or willing to spend big bucks. They carry basic lures but a few new items you might now find elsewhere like Livingston lures for example. This place was the place to go 5-6 years ago but past few years it's declined in stock. I don't know anything about fishing and that's something I'm gonna have to live with for the rest of my life. What I do know is that this is the kind of place that makes you want to be the world's greatest angler at 4:30am in the middle of salmon spawning season. I've never seen so many pick-up trucks in a parking lot, followed by so many fishing rods in the store, followed by a complete absence of women, and yes a grand army of fishing pants wearing, husky looking men, all in line to buy some sort of accessory that will land them a wild salmon. Again, and I am being honest, fishing is not something I normally do but I truly appreciated the atmosphere surrounding the store and the immensity of its selection. Kinda made me realize that living in the city, we are nothing but domesticated fat cats waiting for our next meal. The men in Pulaski, NY don't shop for food, instead they shop for hunting tools to catch their own dinner. Two of my friends and I really stood out in our "rugged" cargo pants. I ended up buying a decently priced ugly stick rod along with some bait, knowing full well that I would catch absolutely nothing with it. The gentleman I spoke to in the front was very calm and understanding while fielding one stupid question after another with the patience of a buddhist monk. I know somewhere deep inside he probably wanted to stab me with the same rod I was about to purchase. I really appreciated his knowledge and cool demeanor in the face of complete city slick ignorance. We (and by that I mean one of my friends) ended up catching a 23lbs King Salmon. The mystery of how that happened will go unsolved for the rest of my life, but we caught it nonetheless. My next meal will be purchased and that's really sad considering the wildlife possibilities. The customer service here is outstanding! Kevin helped me with a pair of waders that clearly had a manufacturers defect. Instead of having me deal with the company and loosing out on fishing he took amazing care of me by handing me a new pair and made sure to ask if I was happy. Needless to say I am very happy!! Although many buy fishing licenses online in this day and age, getting yours at Fat Nancy's is a sort of right of passage and tradition. This is my first time leaving feedback on any purchase on line but I thought you should be aware of how it went for me at Fat Nancy's. I purchased two seven foot rods, site said free shipping but checkout said $15.00. No big deal, supporting the small shop! BTW same rod on FishingUsa same price FREE shipping! Got purchase confirmation email waited 7 days for shipping info as I never received any, called to inquire and was told order had been canceled due to shipping cost... I stated that I was charged $15 when website said free shipping for over $60.00. My purchase was $290+ for two rods. Manager told me Owner said shipping was too much so cancel the order. No call. No email to even let me know. I checked thoroughly NO notification from Fat Nancy's! Good thing I called or I might be waiting weeks to find out. I'm very disappointed with this transaction and will not support this small shop in the future. read more

I can't comment on their physical store, but their internet sales/service is absolutely terrible. It's going to take them two weeks to get me some spoons that we're supposed to be in stock. I could have bought the same spoons across the street from their competitor. I expressed my displeasure with their service and I got the feeling they didn't care because they already had my money. Friendly and helpful staff, knowledgeable of what they sell and great fishing tips for either the river or the lake. The shop is named for a record salmon that hangs on the wall.
