I tried Fat Boy Thai Kitchen because I found it in the Entertainment Book (which makes me try new places I might not otherwise go to). It's quite small inside, so I'd definitely make a booking as there were a couple of bigger parties seated. There is an upstairs section, but I don't know how big it is up there. One thing I loved was that you couldn't see into the kitchen. I don't love that about restaurants, and was happy not to be able to look in.
The menu doesn't stand out from other Thai restaurants. I got my usual Chicken Curry Puffs and my Chicken Fried Rice. The curry puffs were nice, but not outstanding. The fried rice was good, but also nothing more amazing than elsewhere.
When the entrees came out, the waitress didn't ask who ordered what. She just put things down in front of all of the wrong people. It came out in a good time frame, but that was a little "unprofessional" if I'm going to be picky. The staff were friendly though, and very accommodating when it came to menu modifications. They got it all right and that's a big plus with me.
The only other slight negative was that because the restaurant is quite small, when people wait for their take out orders, they almost stand on top of your table waiting. It's kind of awkward for both them and the diners, but at least some didn't have to wait too long.
Overall, I'd recommend Fat Boy Kitchen if you're in the area. It's a good half hour drive for me, so I wouldn't visit again necessarily unless I was in the area (and parking can be really bad), but it's well priced, reasonable and friendly service, and tasty. read more
