This place has everything you could ever want in terms of craft, art and technical materials and I even find myself feeling all creative as I wander through its two floors. The thing that my mum raves about is the 'fill a box' which allows you to fill a rectangular box full of all different types and colours of card and paper to suit your needs. As long as the box closes then you get it all for £7.25 (or £5-odd for a smaller box). The concept is unique and it is the only place in the vicinity that I know of that does this. They also do a 'bonus card' - you get 10 points for every £1 you spend which you can later redeem against some of your favourite goodies. 1 point equals 1p so you are essentially getting 10% off every time you spend. My only qualm? The prices. A lot of their products could be found online on crafty websites for about half the price.

There are alot of things in here, including a great range of inks and paints as well as paper and pencils. I recently topped up on good high quality paper (with high quality prices!). The selection is excellent across the board with alot of stuff that I don't even know the name of so I won't even embarass myself by trying to find appropriate labels for them. 'Crafty stuff'. The staff are friendly and helpful and the place is always busy which is a good sign, particularly given there is another rival store just up the road that is also excellent. Well worth a look.

Have you ever had a friend that screwed up?…read more I mean really screwed up? Not only did they crash your car but your dog was in the car at the time, and since your friend was drunk they had the dog driving. Car gone, dog dead and your pal asking for a beer next to the flaming wreckage complaining about your dog's inability to successfully negotiate reverse camber corners. In a similar scale - Framing Workshop really screwed up They were asked to frame a antique shawl by the wife. An antique Whitby Jet shawl that she has taken care of for over 35 years. We have carried it with us over oceans and kept it in pride of place, in every location we have inhabited. We decided to get the item framed to protect it and specifically asked for it to be pinned in the framed and hung over the backing. The colour of the backing board that they decided to use was grey and when we got it home, it sucked the colour out of the shawl and out of the room. So, I thought why not get the backing board changed out to a nice cream and present it to the wife. The local framer took it in and phoned me the next day. "They glued it". Sorry "They glued the whole thing". The front matt board was glued to the shawl. The antique shawl was completely glued to the backing board. It was not going to shift. Destroyed. Thank you very much. And we are never going near Framing Workshop ever again.

I have many things framed there at a very reasonable price.. For example me and my friend had the same picture to get framed, she went else where and payed £65 and I only payed £32.. Bargain.. I also saw a picture on pinterest of a box frame with an opening in the top so that you can post your old concert tickets in to display them.. They took on the challenge and made me one which I love, I still need to sort all my tickets out but when I have I will add a picture.. Oh also if you if you are in don't forget to look up, when I was collecting my frame I was chatting to the owner, I asked her what the weirdest thing she had framed was and she told me to look up.. Framed on the roof was a giant tunnocks tea cake from the opening ceremony of the commonwealth games.. Love it..

This allows for the creation of some really beautiful and personal art work for your home. My friend had some gorgeous professional photos taken of her little daughter when she turned one year old and she took her photos to 2canvass to get something special done with them. I went with her and we sat with a designer for what felt like hours while my friend hummed and hawed between a full colour, sepia and a vignette canvass. Then there was what size to get and whether to get one canvass or multi panel effect canvass! In the end she got a gorgeous spot colour canvass of her daughter which was black and white but her lovely big eyes were left bright blue. The canvass is massive but is really something special and it looks great in my friend's living room. It wasn't cheap as it cost her nearly £1000 but it is something the family will treasure forever. 2canvass can do all sorts of things with your images including turning them into Andy Warhol style pop art, caricatures and they can also turn your children's paintings or hand prints into canvasses which will last the whole of their life time. They also sell some nice "ready to go" canvasses in a variety of sizes which are cheaper than getting something made with a personalised image. The service at 2canvass was excellent and the designer we sat with was very patient while my friend made her decision. He was also very mindful of her budget and didn't push her to spend anymore than she'd planned.

We had always put this off for fear that this would be really expensive, but we decided to bite the bullet and get it done. After a bit of internet searching we found this place and decided to give them a go. The key thing that swung it for us is that a lot of the students at the School of Art use them, and after dealing with them you can see why. First off, the quality of the work is brilliant. Craig looked at what we had and made brilliant suggestions on the type and colour of frame which made what we had look amazing. He also suggested that we change the type of glass we had in one of the frames we were getting fixed, and this has really made the colours on the picture pop. Secondly, everyone that works there is really nice. You can tell they love what they do, are really good at it, and are really interested in the art that people bring in. We weren't in a rush to get this done, so it took about 2 weeks, and Craig was in contact with us to let us know how things were coming along and to double check a few things. Also, they are really well priced. We got 3 pictures framed and 2 fixed and this came in comfortably under £150. Considering one of the pictures we got fixed cost about £80 to get framed 10 years ago I thought this was superb. Honestly, if you need something framed definitely give these guys a go.
