Overall I would say the program as fine and fun. It is a welcoming environment, but the biggest drawback (that I wasn't very clear on when I signed up) is that the instructors are only certified by the franchise. They are not certified personal trainers. From my understanding, the instructors were former bootcamp members who are paid a small fee (maybe like 8 dollars an hour) to instruct classes. What this means in practice is that often times the afternoon classes are lower quality because they are less sought after, and more experienced instructors choose to instruct in the morning. Classes are often taught by new instructors who are just learning, which means counting is off, things are explained poorly, and above all gym members are often given contradictory instructions by different instructors. I understand the need to be patient with new instructors, but you aren't paying less if your grade-school-teacher turned kick boxing instructors on Monday nights is really terrible or really great (it can go either way). Ultimately, the fluctuation in quality is what made me look for a gym with classes with certified personal trainers. It was a really hard thing to admit to myself because everyone was so nice and welcoming at the gym, but after a while you lose confidence in the fifth or sixth brand-spanking new instructor. By and large I am paying professional gym prices, and I want professional level reliable instructors not just the affable yet doubt invoking new recruits. The owner is lovely, and all of the people seem enthusiastic, but the structure of the franchise would have been a big dissuading factor for me had I known going in. Also this doesn't seem to be something explained well on the advertisements. read more
