Okay, we're staying at Oak Bay, and sometimes, the on-site restaurants can be iffy. Not Faro, which converts to pizza after being an excellent cafe. ( my morning go-to) We decided on a light salad and pizza. As a starter, we started with marinated olives, and the bean salad was the best I've had. Add a delicious, perfect martini (and I mean perfect) everything was great. The pizza here is fresh, thin, and with just the right amount of toppings. When traveling, I try not to go to the same restaurant but I'll make an exception for Faro. Simply yum. read more

Always the best time at Faro! The service is amazing, and the food is delicious every single time. Located within the beautiful Oak Bay Beach Hotel, Faro offers lovely outdoor heated seating. The arugula salad is my favorite in the world. The pear, fennel, and hint of honey in the vinaigrette create the most delicious salad ever--I could eat it every day. This time, we got the Quattro pizza, although I often opt for the arugula option. The Quattro is sooo delicious--I love the ricotta and pear. It's a bit creamy and rich but sooo good. I also love their Aperols, which come in a generous glass size! I cannot say enough good things about Faro. It's perfect for a casual dinner, takeout, or a celebration. Finally had the chance to try this new Italian pizza place by oak bay beach hotel. Ordered the 4 cheese with walnuts and pear and the Wild Beast Pizza ( meatlovers) with pepper. It had fennel Sausage and pepperoni. First off, the lady of the house is Italian. Shes very nice and accommodating and will chat you up and make sure you are comfortable. The shop Also partners with Wild Beast butchery for their meats. The 4 cheese pizza was amazing. The inclusion of pear and walnuts provided a sweet and crunchy texture profile. The cheeses themselves were equally good. The wild beast pizza was likewise phenomenal. The meats from Wild Beast are not your usual processed ones. Very fresh and you can actually taste the quality. Kudos to that butcher shop. The peppers added a nice little kick to the pizza. Now for the crust, here is where i took off 1 star. Despite the edges having the burnt bubbly texture..,the body of the pizza was a bit soggy. When you pick up the pizza, toppings will actually fall off. It was too chewy and provided no crunch at all. But overall, it was still good. Quality ingredients all around. Their beer was a real PINT. No cheating! Lol. I would repeat for sure and try the prawn pizza next, as well as the margherita pizza. Great pizza for a hotel restaurant! Saying that it is quite detached from the hotel, with its own entrance and beer garden. We Arrived in after a long beach walk and decided to share a burrata starter, a pizza and enjoy a nice bottle of wine. The restaurant is very small and very nicely decorated. We were met by the host and were very politely shown to the table. If I have one issue it was the robotic nature of the host and the server. It felt like they were reading from a script. Very minor and ultra polite and nice. The burrata starter with a roast pear was fantastic The spicy pipizza was thin crust and crispy, just like you would get in Italy. Pizza and service have gone downhill I have had numerous pizzas from Faro since they first opened. I didn't mind paying their higher price because I considered them to make the best pizza in town. Over the past six months, I have noticed a significant decline in quality, consistency and service. If I had an issue with only one pizza, I would not be writing this review. About three pizzas ago, I brought a pizza home and it was undercooked and tasted doughy. The next pizza that I ordered had crust that was extremely thin and burnt, resulting in each slice of pizza breaking like a cookie rather than bending; the fresh basil on top was also burnt. Last week. I ordered my most recent pizza. We usually get a margherita pizza with fennel sausage. I called at 1 PM to have the pizza ready for 5:30 pm and was told that they were unable to have me order in advance and that I had to call back at 5 pm. The woman I spoke with said there was a new policy that if I ordered pizza at 1 PM, it would be ready in 30 minutes. I explained that I had been ordering this way for years and asked her why they were the only restaurant in town that didn't seem to be able to manage ordering food in advance to pick up later; after putting me on hold and presumably speaking with a supervisor, she told me that they would make an exception this one time. When I showed up to get my pizza I spoke with a supervisor, Isabella, who had no idea about this change in policy, but promised to speak with the manager and get back to me. I have not heard from either the supervisor or the manager since then. To make matters even worse, when I was handed my pizza, I confirmed that it was a margherita with fennel sausage and the server said yes. When I got home, I discovered that there was no fennel sausage, no buffalo mozzarella, and no basil leaves; it was simply tomato sauce with thick slices of garlic. I don't know if the issue is due to management inattention, poor staff training, or rotating staff. In any case, I'm no longer prepared to pay the extra amount to get their pizza if I'm not sure whether it will be undercooked and doughy, overcooked and burnt, or the wrong order. During our stay at Oak Bay Hotel, we visited Faro for dinner one night and glad we did! The restaurant has a modern feel and we were able to get seated quickly around 8pm. Our server was helpful and friendly and we appreciated her attention. We shared the prosciutto & melon appetizer and pepperoni pizza. The appetizer was so delicious with the combination of salty from the prosciutto and sweet from the melon and white balsamic. Also enjoyed the basil in this dish. The pizza was one of the best pizzas I've had in awhile. The pepperoni and hot honey combination works so well, salty, sweet and a lil spice! The pizza slices were also sturdy and didn't fall apart when you picked it up. Would definitely recommend you give Faro a try! read more

Good: Burrata. Ok: Pizza (charred beyond edible in 1/3 of pie; paper thin and soggy; super chincy on toppings; tasty tho. Brisket or whatever was rock hard tho tasty on mediocre and cold polenta. Bad: service was abysmal. I do not blame the two servers who were covering over 12 tables by themselves. However, neither looked at us or said anything like "I will be right with you" or "sorry for the wait." They were frantic and frowning. No food runner. No busser. One hotel F&B manager was very nice and jumped in to be our waiter after we waited over 10 minutes to be greeted and have our order taken. Hostess was great and took on a table because no one was able to serve them. Clearly a scheduling or budgeting dysfunction that made it a horrible experience. I heard that the pizza was amazing so I gave this place a try. I was disappointed. The pizza was soggy from the crust edge inward. The toppings were delicious but the crust was too soggy such that you could not pick up the slice without all the toppings falling off. I was the only person in the dining area. The cook thought it was funny to bring out a dead mouse in a trap into the dining area. Seriously! When I complained to the server about both the pizza and the mouse, the server said that mice were a problem in Victoria. I don't think he understood that I rather not see a dead mouse while I am eating! read more
