Left me with a roach ridden apartment with no buzzers & little to no parking (neither of which major issue was disclosed by them), repeated criminal activity with arrests that the landlords ignored, poor lighting, smokers, broken plumbing, etc. Eric & Andy at NSA&C are not kind, nor honest. Worst rental experience of my life, and NS is aware of major issues with a large landlord they lease for, and could not seem to care less. I told them all about the issues for 2 years, and sent them proof of others complaining, yet they still lease out units in that building willy nilly. Then Andy told me to use his name as a reference since I told him the landlords bullied me, harassed me, and did not fix major repairs and he badmouthed me to my new landlord. So throw in jeopardizing my rental security after being traumatized for 2 years by bully slumlords. Nice guy.

Bill seems to think himself above human decency and refused to respond to any emails or inquiries and I felt my application with 800+ credit score was rejected due to either the listing being a scheme to collect application fees or for Bill already having an applicant in mind and not doing his job in good faith. I also heard from someone while visiting the property that he wasn't pushing needed repairs for one of the current tenants because he wanted them out, so I probably dodged a bullet. I guess I am a fool for expecting more from humanity than this, but I would avoid Schermerhorn and Bill Cannon especially. Housing isn't something you should be so blasé about.

But real talk I am poor man, I come from drug addicted family and raised like scum. Ben Erenberg has been the only person that proved contradictory behavior to the negative reviews that are put down here. He never cared about money he cared about our wellbeing outright. When my lover was going through chemo and we were struggling to pay the bills Ben took major care of us by allowing the lateness of payment for several months. He was more compassionate than the last building owner and management. His staff followed suit when I brought up the situation. We never had issues because I am a handyman/contractor but I mean I never needed to work hard to keep the property livable. Minor things happened and thats normal. Alot of people think that they have a right to demand things but they never understood what it means to own and run a property. 1 landlord owns that home not several, a property manager works on behalf of that owner and its up to the owner to make financial decisions at the end. Cagan will take the bullet of course especially for the bad owners who want to be a wolf in cagans clothing. Ben has been a sweetheart and has a right to defend himself if pushed. I just want to say thank you so much from the top to the bottom of my heart. Because of how he is treating us after more of our badluck he so caring as if we were his family. Incredibly attentive and responsive staff, from the office to the maintenance folks. They're proactive about health and safety concerns. They make it a point to replace all smoke detector batteries twice a year and offer complimentary preventative pest control (always with advance notice and signs posted letting you know it's going to be happening, and they always make sure to ask if you have pets that they need to be careful not to let out when they enter) - they keep the building extremely clean. I see the cleaning person around the building doing her thing almost every day. It's also the most festive building I've ever lived in. Every month they put up new decorations (and sometimes candy) for holidays in the entryways, lobby, even on each floor. And they keep a ton of beautiful plants and a water feature in the lobby and laundry room. Everyone is very friendly. When you run into the maintenance person, he always takes a moment to ask how everything is going on your floor/in your apartment and maybe share some fun facts about the building's design. If you have an issue or concern about something, they respond right away. They send you holiday and birthday cards and have been offering free laundry on site throughout the pandemic. The laundry room is huge with 6 washers (most brand new) and 8 dryers. They do everything they can to make receiving packages easy and secure for their tenants. If you're looking to rent in the Edgewater neighborhood, do yourself a favor and ask Ardmore Winthrop Properties for a tour of one of their buildings.

And the laundry facility on the first floor is clean and I don't think I ever saw another person there in the three years I lived there.
