We were to do a televisit with the tests but due to the heat and humidity, the seals were no longer sticking rendering the kits invalid. We arrived from Rome in Florence two days before the cruise. The pharmacist was so helpful and spoke excellent English. Our family of four received paperwork showing our negative tests for a very reasonable price. Thank you for saving our vacation!

So helpful! I had…read moretwisted my ankle while traveling the day before and was in terrible pain. I couldn't take much more, so I limped over to this Farmacia for help. Mostly through non-verbal communication, I explained what I needed to the clerk, who had me sit on a short stool in a semi-private area. He came over with a compressive support brace for my ankle and let me try it on. It fit perfectly and really helped with the pain, so I wore it out of the pharmacy. I believe it was 14 euro. I can't comment on whether or not that's a good price for the product, but I can tell you that I wore that thing for the rest of my trip. Money well-spent, for sure. Thanks, Farmacia Brizio-Mazzei!

At all pharmacies in Italy, you can ask their pharmacists advice about some ailment you may be having and they will gladly recommend a product. But at Cortesi, I tend to avoid asking anything at all since they don't tend to be friendly or helpful. However, they will order any medicine or product they do not have in stock and it will arrive within a day or two. All in all, it serves it's purpose, as long as you don't expect service with a smile!

Following are a few points to help North American visitors seeking commonly requested items at a pharmacy: 1) What we consider "over the counter" meds are still generally kept behind the counter, so you need to ask for them. You won't see an aisle full of cold medication and NSAIDS, for example. 2) If you are looking for ADVIL, here ibuprofen is marketed mostly as "MOMENT" 3) ALEVE (Naproxen) is called "MOMENDOL" 4) TYLENOL is marketed under the name "TACHIPIRINA" 5) Most other common over the counter items (not all) have the same names (Dramamine, Zantac, etc.) 6) You will find that pharmacists here are very highly regarded as "almost doctors", to the point that doctors often consult with them on selecting prescriptions. As such, they are extremely knowledgable, and can often help you choose the right meds for many situations. 7) Many meds that are prescription-only back home are available over the counter here. For example, you can get most antibiotics without the need to see a doctor, and if you explain your condition, they will generally be able to choose the right one for you.
