I have never purchased better quality products, her Calendula cream is sublime and works wonders on my skin. Her shop is full of wonders and excellent gifts too. In a perfect location, this is my go-to spot that I drop in first whenever I am in Florence to stock up on all my favorite creams, custom made treatments, bath gels and essential body oils. My good friends from Germany and the Philippines also do the same every time they are in Florence, this pharmacy is a treasure and should not be missed.

In Florence, that lady praised the Farmacia Münstermann which has been based there since 1897 (!). When you stop by, the tiny store comes across as a regular pharmacy. But there's more to it: They sell a large variety of self-made fragrances and skin care products whose preparation supposedly hasn't changed since the beginnings. Münstermann doesn't offer creative concoctions of the modernistic kind. They stick to puristic versions of proven favourites including: citrus, amber, fern, acacia, gardenia, geranium, lily, lime, tabac, musk, orchid, patchouly, peach, red and tea rose, sandal wood, vanilla, leather, honey-almond, cinnamon, peach-lime, and bergamotto. He had a great success and in 1908 the pharmacy moved to the building in piazza Goldoni and took the new name, Farmacia Anglo-Americana, that it kept until 1935. The original nineteenth century furnishings are all there intact, even though some adaptations became necessary in the early 1900s when the building itself was remodeled to make way for the new tram line. The 1966 flood inflicted serious damage. However, in spite of these vicissitudes, the pharmacy still conserves its original character that forms the perfect setting for the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics that are still made according to the original old formulas.

It's my fault for not looking at the money, however everyone should be made aware of the practices of this specific Farmacia. I also received a receipt stating that I had given the clerk the exact amount of 5,75 euro and received no change... I hope they have cameras in the store as I am going back tomorrow to speak with the owner/manager. Ruberà i vostri soldi se non state attenti. We were to do a televisit with the tests but due to the heat and humidity, the seals were no longer sticking rendering the kits invalid. We arrived from Rome in Florence two days before the cruise. The pharmacist was so helpful and spoke excellent English. Our family of four received paperwork showing our negative tests for a very reasonable price. Thank you for saving our vacation!

So helpful! I had…read moretwisted my ankle while traveling the day before and was in terrible pain. I couldn't take much more, so I limped over to this Farmacia for help. Mostly through non-verbal communication, I explained what I needed to the clerk, who had me sit on a short stool in a semi-private area. He came over with a compressive support brace for my ankle and let me try it on. It fit perfectly and really helped with the pain, so I wore it out of the pharmacy. I believe it was 14 euro. I first discovered this fragrance called Vaniglia del Madagascar at Barney's in Los Angeles and…read morebought it immediately. Four bottles and about a million inquiries from strangers as to the fragrance later, I went onto the Barney's website to order again and saw that it wasn't carried any longer. I then called their corporate office and asked where their Vaniglia from Firenze went and they had no answers (noticed they carry again, so I guess they got their shipping or whatever figured out). I started googling and found that the alchemist and his shop are located in the middle of Florence and it just so happened that I was going to Italy, and I added Florence to the list of train stops. I spent a morning searching the winding Florence streets for this shop which was well worth it. While I was initially disappointed because I did have visions of crushed flower petals, and powders and smoking glassware with distillation kits filling a smoky backroom. I was still very happy to find my favorite fragrance and that pretty handwritten label on about a hundred different fragrances and oils. I basically told my boyfriend to find something to do for the next hour, because I was going to need some time. While I was there buying everything that I could find in Vaniglia (much less expensive than Barney's) the alchemist came out and I told him how much I like his fragrance and how everyone asks me about it and that he does the chemistry I would love to be doing. He didn't speak a lot of English with me but he understood me and definitely understood that I love his product because he wrapped up a beautiful bottle of a new fragrance and tucked it in my bag as a gift. That one is amazing too. I may not live here, but I can guarantee I'll be back.
