Against my doctor's recommendation I went for an initial consult at Crossfit Vancouver, where I wanted to start training. My coach there told me to go see Dr. Cleland and combine that with a tailored Crossfit training program. Dr. Cleland was great - very personable and understanding of my surgery and fitness goals. He explained everything he was doing to me so that I could understand, instead of in gobbledeegook doctorspeak. While the procedures were extremely painful (he was working on my fascial tissue and deep muscle scars) they worked. I was able to excel at my fitness training almost immediately, and my range of motion was improved significantly. When I returned to Boston for the one year follow-up with my surgeon, I was told that I had recovered in record time and achieved a range of motion not usually possible after a surgery like mine. Thanks Cleland!

Although x-rays and ultrasound showed I had no injury, or impingement, my arm was almost dead. They told me it was adhesive capsulitis, or "Frozen Shoulder." I had shooting pain in my shoulder, and the slightest jarring would send me through the roof. I was in extreme pain and nothing seemed to help. I tried acupuncture, massage, cortisone shots, drugs and although each offered a little relief, nothing helped for long. Then a friend told me about Trigenics and Dr. Richard Cleland. I started going to the clinic in late November 2011 and on my first visit I was able to lift my arm over my head. Something I hadn't done in months. Although the treatment is painful, the results can't be argued with. I've been been in treatment for 5 months and I've regained 95% of my strength and mobility. If you've been told you have a frozen shoulder, I highly recommend you call Synergy Chiropractic. Don't wait two years, or longer for your frozen shoulder to go away. My pain had only been getting worse in the last year or so, so a former co-worker recommended seeing Anne. Once I finally admitted I needed to get treatment, I came here, and I do not regret it one bit! Anne is very thorough, we go through the same movements before every appointment to see the changes in my movement and in my pain levels. She also asks a variety of questions about you lifestyle to see if that is affecting you- she has asked me about the weight of my backpack and how much I am sitting throughout the day, among other things. Rather than just tell you what the problem is without checking everything out, she will always ask where the pain is when doing different movements to make sure every area of your body is being checked out. Be sure to be honest about your pain levels too- it is very helpful (to any medical professional, I assume) when you are not downgrading your pain level, which is something I have learned while seeing her. You will not get the results you want unless you are honest about your pain level. She also provides different stretches for you to do between appointments, which I have found very helpful in the process of healing. I played sports for many years, and I have not even done some of these stretches before. As well, Kyra, the lovely lady at the front desk, is super friendly! She was already processing my claim for me by the time my first appointment was done, which is great considering it would have taken some time for me to get to doing it. She also always emails me my receipt without me having to ask for that instead of a paper receipt (I'm sure that information is on my file, but still... it is a nice touch.) All in all, very friendly and professional!

My initial visit was one hour & Dr Jussa was very thorough in reviewing my history and the reason for my visit. She asked good questions and determined a plausible source of my injury. This is a letter I wrote the Chiropractic Assn. of Canada regarding the experience at this office:…read more I'm am writing this email in response to what I can only see as utter disregard for a patient's well being and schedule. That patient being me. This morning I made an appointment with the office of Dr. Jabeen Jussa, Chiropractor in North Vancouver at 1124 Lonsdale Ave., suite 300. The appointment was scheduled for 2:15. At the time, I was at my partner's home in False creek, a considerable distance, 30 min drive at this time of day. I had asked my partner, who was caring for me for the last 9 days due to my extreme back/neck pain and immobility, to take time out of her teaching schedule to drive me to North Vancouver so I could see Dr. Jussa. This took over an hour of time out of her day. I'm not able to drive my own vehicles at the moment due to the pain and discomfort resulting from my back and neck condition. I arrived at the at 2:24. Nine minutes late. The receptionist explained to me that they were unable to see me due to the fact that I was now 10 minutes late. I explained politely that I could barely walk and that I had made considerable effort to change my day's schedule as well as my partner's ultra busy schedule to get there. I also explained that I was in dire need of some help as I was in pain and I had no alternative appointment to seek help. The receptionist refused, explaining that there were several appointments after me. At the time, there was only one other person in the waiting room who arrived during the conversation. I asked if they were actually going to turn me away in the condition I was in. She again refused and said there was no way to get me in. Honestly, I can't really believe that anyone could be turned down for any form of health care, especially the condition I was in - for being 9-10 minutes late. Turning someone down in that condition is not 'care.' It seems to me, brutally unprofessional and the opposite of health care. After a couple of minutes of conversation, I left the office in shock and frustration for being turned away, hobbling in pain, back to the vehicle that got me there. Please know that in no way was I rude, aggressive, nor did I raise my voice or make any uncomfortable scene. I kept calm and explained my situation. Upon exiting the building, I called the office to again explain my condition and how difficult/inconvenient it was to make the appointment. Again, I was refused treatment and turned away. I can't think of a time when I've been in a health care office when having to wait 10 minutes for an appointment was a noticeable inconvenience. Who doesn't expect waits of 5 - 30 minutes when seeing a health professional? It's completely normal and expected. My point being, anyone who had an appointment after me would not likely have noticed if they had to wait a mere 10 minutes. That said, I would hate to inconvenience another patient. But I most certainly would understand that if someone in my condition needed care which resulted in an extra wait of 10 minutes, I would put up no argument or protest. I will add that I haven't seen a chiropractor in several years because I grew somewhat skeptical due some medical papers I've read about the validity of the practice and whether it was effective. Today was my attempt to give it another chance to see if it would help, as I'm rather desperate to find a solution to this back issue that seems to reoccur. And today I remain in pain and with no alternate appointment or solution. So, I would like to submit this as a formal complaint about the lack of care/consideration I received in Dr. Jabeen Jussa's office today. Monday, August 8, 2016. Thank you for reading. I am sorry to have informed you of this event that occurred today. I'm not normally a complainer, but this was a rather disgraceful and discouraging experience in a place that is meant to administer health care. Note: This is written one day after the above statement. I managed to get an appointment at another office today and would you believe it, I waited 25 mins to get in to see the Chiropractor. Imagine that.

At the beginning, it was actually not bad, I went there usually with a family member since I had a terrible car accident and wasn't able to move on my own properly, and the therapist did give me therapy as needed. Though as I got stronger, I felt like my hip and back pain were still there and not getting better. Being told that, the therapist would still just make me do exercises that I could and did do at home, spent an average time of 5 minutes with me per session before disappearing. No pain relief, no scar tissue relief, no muscle stretch, just a tap on the shoulder to keep doing exercises in their extremely tiny gym that I did at home everyday on my own. I really felt like whenever I was in there, it consisted of a quick talk about the usual conversation "how are you? How are you doing" and then send me off to the gym for the therapist to go on break. I find it a little lazy, I actually let that go for a while but after being treated like so for my last 10 ish sessions the same way when pain persisted on my body, I went ahead and looked out for a new Physio that actually cared.
