i went today to get my nails done and it seemed like everyone elses nails were fine but mine, the guy who was doing my nails barely spoke to me, messingly did my french tips, and my acrylics are extemely bumpy and uneven. one of my nails got smudged by the lamp and as he "fixed" it he managed to mess it up even more by sloppily "fixing" it. im very dissapointed as i couldve had a todler do better than this. not worth $70 please find service elsewhere if looking for acrylics, the picture was my reference. read more

We went to Fantasy Nails on April 8th. We were walk ins and they took us right away which was great! My daughter had a pedicure and my granddaughter a manicure. I had a manicure. I had to move to 3 different chairs. The place that the nail technician worked was dirty. The towel laying on the working station had someone elses nail clippings on it. After observing this, I starting looking around more. All of the technicians used the same file on everyone. I know a new one should be used each time according to the NC Salon Inspection office. While looking around, I noticed the Wax room. There was an old quilt and small blanket on the waxing table and the room was disgustingly nasty. The waxing table was dirty and the waxing station looked horrible! I DID NOT AND WOULD NOT get any waxing done there. The nail drying station was disgusting. The minute I put my hands under the dryers and relaxed my hands, I felt something like grease and grime. I removed my hands and looked down and it was so dusty and nasty. You could see the space between the dryers and can tell it has been months, if not years, since it had been wiped. My nails were OK but started peeling within a couple of days. This may be normal as I don't get many manicures. All of this to say, STAY AWAY! This place needs to shut down, clean it really well and keep it that way! read more

I had not been to them in awhile so I thought I would give it another try. Couldn't remember why I stopped going, until this visit. My last visit totaled 78.00 dollars, the manicure was great, pedicure not so much. Cut my toenails way too short. It was a full set and a pedicure. Went in today, I asked for a fill-in and just polish for my little girl's nails. She is 6, her nails are super short . So nothing to do but paint them. Bill came up to be 73.00 dollars. Aggravated because they really need a set price. I feel like I was seriously gouged. I could see if I was getting another full set and my daughter was older. If I could give zero stars I would. Salon is not clean, staff is incredibly rude and they shove other services in your face to up charge your total. I had to interject the conversation because the lady wouldn't listen when my sister said she didn't want gel polish. The woman who did my mom's pedicure started after me and finished before me, barely rubbed, or did anything that typically comes with a basic pedicure- no cuticles, buffing, or callus removal (which they said was included), and she yelled at her to be still when she wasn't even moving. The lady that did my sister's manicure was incredibly rude. My pedicure was good but the chair I sat in did not work. Will not be back. Poor experience for all three of us. read more

MY mother had a wonderful older man do her manicure and pedicure. He really took time with her and really helped her with the massage. He delicately removed her in-grown toenails. This review is not about him, this review is about the polar opposite man who did my mani/pedi. He only once spoke to me to say "color", which was fine. I thought maybe it was a language barrier, no problem. Then he did a half-a** job on my nails. He messed two up and just kept adding nail polish, making a complete mess. I don't normally get mani-pedis, but over the Thanksgiving holiday I had a girlfriend visiting and we wanted to spend some time away from the boys. So, I began my search for a decent nail salon in Shallotte, since it's only fifteen minutes away from our vacation home on Holden Beach, NC. (We decided the hour drive to Wilmington or Myrtle Beach was too far.) Fantasy Nails turned out to be the only one we could find. Located in a strip mall anchored by Belk and Home Depot, this salon was big, bright, and fairly clean. The lovely Vietnamese women who run the place didn't care we were walk-ins, promptly ordered us to pick our colors and ushered us into comfy pedicure chairs with foot baths. (I didn't pick a color, by the way. I can't stand how nail polish feels on my fingers or toes.) I suppose I could have rated Fantasy Nails three stars, except for the following reasons. When I stated that I didn't want nail polish on my toes, my technician argued with me. Strike one. About halfway through the pedicure, I decided I didn't want to have a manicure because I didn't want my cuticles cut. The technician insisted, saying "I need to finish you!" Strike two. (At least she didn't make my fingers bleed.) But then she told me I needed to get my eyebrows done. After I politely declined, she continued to tell me, no, I really needed to get my eyebrows waxed. "You need nice arch!" I resorted to calling my friend over to referee. She, being the nail salon expert, put an end to that line of questioning. (And assured me my eyebrows were just fine as is. I love her!) Strike three. Dock one star. Our nails did look nice, and I loved the OPI color my friend picked for her nails. Mine were buffed and shiny. On the way out the door, my friend told me that her technician (also the owner) tried to sell her a $6 paper fan on top of the mani-pedi, supposedly to help raise money to send back to her family in Vietnam. My friend opined, "If she needs money, why not just ask for a donation? I don't want or need a cheap paper fan." If you're really in need of a mani-pedi and there is nowhere else to go, head to Fantasy Nails in Shallotte. Otherwise, don't. read more

Not a great place to go to. I asked for a specific black color in ombre, and what I ended up with was a light tan. I was going to be charged $75 for this, so I kindly told my artist that they were wrong- she insisted they were right, and they just looked that way because of the ombre. Finally, she made them darker, and actually took my set off the bill, but it's not ombre at all. Just a bunch of polish sloppily feathered back and forth. They also still aren't the color I picked out, and the shape is not good- I had to go home and file them myself. I give an extra star because they weren't rough, but I won't be going back again. EDIT: Changing this to one star because these are the lumpiest fucking nails ever. read more

barney was my nail tech, he did an amazing job on my nails. coming all the way from NY i had very high expectations and barney exceeded them 1,000% i am so happy with my experience. not only was barney a great nail tech he was very personable and so friendly i have never had such a good conversation with a nail tech! it was very clean in there and everyone was very nice. one last thing, the price point was great! i got a full set dipped all white nails with a coffin shape and it was $50! Awful experience. Amazingly the place was busy and several people appeared to be regular clients. Pedicure- technician was so quick and careless that while hastily trimming my cuticles the clipper was shoved under the nail bed. Hoping no infection develops as I saw no signs of sanitary procedures. Powder dip manicure- nails were not shaped evenly, gel was clumped resulting in a clumped uneven finished product. Application was sloppy and I have dried gel all around the cuticles and under the nails. A complete waste of money. read more

Usually come to Barney and love him and his work! but came and he wasnt available so i saw a woman. I had round nails and asked her to cut them down and reshape them to round again afterwards. She cut me multiple times, made my nails coffin shape and then sent me to a mans station and i sat there for an hour with nobody working on me while everyone who came in after me got helped and done. then the man came and tried to do my toes rather than my nails, and they list the book with my color in it. I only received a pedicure. It was so so. I paid more for extra massage meanwhile people who paid for a basic pedi got a much longer massage. Paint job was streaky and clearly needed another coat but the nail tech didn't bother. The staff is very friendly though. They include everyone in group conversations. So last time I had a good experience, other than the lady complaining, which I asked to leave. Today I was expecting the same awesome treatment. But was sorely disappointed. I don't think I'll be back. I cc [ the foot baths were dirty until she came out with a huge shower cap for the foot bath. Loved that. The pedicure I got beside my sister was different. I got a way better calf massage than she did. Both of the people who did ours, barely spoke to us and the guy who did mine scrubbed a gash into my foot with the callus grater. Worst. Experience. Ever!! It was just before my graduation on 5~13~16 and Mothers Day that my daughter and daughter n law went shopping for an outfit to get my nails and toes done.. After we finished getting my outfit and shoes in the little strip mall there by Home Depot, we decided to just stay in that little plaza and get my nails done instead of driving back to Southport where I usually get my nails and feet done.. BIG MISTAKE!!! As soon as I walked in, the man directed me to go sit in chair 7 after getting the color polish I wanted... He spoke to one of his workers who was sitting next to chair 7 finishing up another ladys toes... I sat and waited in the chair, no one turned on the water for me... The lady who I assumed was suppose to do my toes was talking back and forth with the man who directed me to to the chair.. The tone in her voice was not happy.. She kept looking at me with a funny look... I have never ever been here before so I wasn't sure what her problem was with me, but it was obvious she had one from the get~go.. After at least 5 minutes of sitting in the chair, no water filling in the bin, I watched 2 other women come in, get seated, and have workers take care of them immediately... I still sat with no water or anything with my feet on the side of the chair... I told my daughter I wanted to leave and she said I was tripping and just to wait.. . Finally the lady reached over and turned on the water for me but told me to put my feet up on top, not in the water like normally happens, nor did she put oils or salts in the water... Ok... Well when she finally indicated for me to put my feet in, the water was scalding!!!! WTF?!?! She just smiled and said "oh too hot?" I told her it was and she said sorry... WHATEVER!!! By this time I was really getting irritated.. What did I ever do to this woman to get this treatment?? She cleaned up her area where she was doing the last lady, all the while STILL having a heated discussion with the man in charge, all the while looking back at me every once in a while flinging her hand around... THEN she goes and sit down at the manicure table and proceeds to work on someones hands... I am sitting there in shock.. NEVER have I ever been treated like this anywhere before.. I take my feet out of the hot water and stand to put my shoes back on... The man apologizes profusely on her behalf stating that she is only a manicurist which is complete BS.. They are trained in it all.. As I am standing at the door waiting for my daughter in law to get her stuff together (she was completely shocked that after 25 minutes and no work being performed I am ready to go...) As I am standing there that little heffer has the audacity to tell me " Happy Mothers Day" A cherry on top of the cake as far as I am concerned... I wound up just going home and not getting anything done to my feet or nails.. A sore appeared on the right side of my foot after a week.. I had to put anti~fungal cream on it for a week to make it go away.. that tells me they do not sanitize their feet spa areas... I will never recommend this place to anyone, ever... read more

Overpriced. They charged me $55 for a gel manicure over my own nails. Also, the most painful manicure I have ever experienced! She used the Dremel so hard on my nails that I felt the heat building up and it became very painful. Then, she applied the gel and I felt like my hands were on fire. I had to pull them out of the UV lights and blow on them becaus they felt like they were on fire. Already stuck half way through the manicure with now-deformed gell fingernails, I was forced to endure the almost 2 hour process to get them shaped, airbrushed, and cured. What a waste of time and money. I would not recommend this place. They do have shellac, which is why I went there, but they didn't have white for a french manicure so I opted for the gel. I walked in at 2:00 on a Tuesday for a pedicure. Busy place but lots of workers. I'm new to the area and it looked fine. They told me to pick a color, then sit in chair #7. Ten minutes later a worker started my water. I loved that they put a 'shower cap' over the basin to ensure sanitation. Thought I'd picked a winner. Meanwhile, someone else came in and they took her right away. Maybe she had an appointed, maybe she was a regular.... Maybe because she wanted a mani and pedi she rated higher. Don't know. Twenty minutes later no one was still helping me., so I walked out. I've never done that before. If I'd been told it was a 1/2 hour wait, I'd have planned accordingly. Ran an errand, gone someplace else... But not wasted the time. With all the other options in town, seriously doubt I'll go back! And I now know to ASK how long a wait before I sit down (which is what I'm used to them automatically telling me). read more

I didn't have a great experience here. I had the deluxe pedicure for $45 and on the menu it said 20 minutes massage but I timed her and she only did a total of 5 minutes massage. She didn't cute my cuticles and hang nail she just faked it. The whole time she kept speaking her language to her co-workers and kept snickering. I felt very uncomfortable as if she was saying I have fat ugly pickle toes. The way she shaped my nail was like a marathon very quick! The cuticle softener that they had didn't look white and dense like other salons instead it was liquid watered down and slipped right off my toes like water. The has mini sized nail filer, nail buff, and pumice stone WHICH in fact is the cheapest tools they purchased to work on customers. She kept insisting me to do my eyebrows but I said no because I shape my own eyebrows at home. But somehow she dragged me into the waxing room and charged me $10...WHAT A WASTE. Overall they don't like to talk to customers just like to speak their language to one another. Keep telling you to do more services just so they can make more money. read more

Every finger on my left hand is either red and swollen or has nicks from a nail tech who was rude, overbearing and held my fingers too tight and tighter when I complained. I am on the verge of calling him a bully. Dust everywhere on the station and he kept using the same towel to dry my nails and answered me, "no it fine" when I asked him to change the towel. Pulled a pair of cuticle nippers out of the station's drawer and did not disinfect them first. When he finished with the polish application, he said, "you done", but he had not applied any oil or conditioner to my now overdried nails. No class or finesse for $30. Can't wait to get home and go to a clean affordable and friendly nail salon. read more

Went in July 2017, it was packed but they had several workers plus a couple arrived that was from a nail salon in Virginia and friends of the owners. They saw how backed up they were and jumped in to assist with manicures! Every mani and pedi station was full. The problem came when they were rushing to serve everyone...you can hear customers yelling ouch! They were damaging customers cuticles and cutting nails too short! I was getting a pedicure and the technician (one of the owners) painted my nail bed and the skin around it. When I asked to please remove the polish from my skin they did a sloppy job. I knew several of the other customers and they left complaining about the rush/sloppy job also! I know businesses are in the business to make money but it should not be at the expense of losing regular customers! I will not go back! I should not have to treat my damage cuticles after paying for a professional pedicure or go home and clean nail polish from my skin! Went to get my eyebrows waxed and they were very unfriendly and treated me poorly.. My eyebrows when done were super uneven and she didn't even let me check my eyebrows before she left me in the waxing room by myself.. She was talking about me under her breath the whole time.. And didn't even say thank you for coming or anything and walked away before I even finished singing for my payment.. If that's not enough for you to find somewhere else the place was also very dirty... Coming from going to cosmetology school for one semester we were drilled on how clean we were suppose to keep our waxing equipment ect.. Pretty sure she used the same spatula for the wax on me that she used for multiple customers, the wax was left in covered and so were all the waxing strips which looked like dirty toilet paper... I've always like going to Fantasy nails, but today I went to get a French manicure and the guy that was doing my nails really didn't do as well as I hoped it seemed he was tired of working and just trying to rush to get my done. he didn't line up my the nail properly so I have visible real nail showing and when I told him the fake nail piece was glued to my skin it seemed like he got frustrated with me. he was handling my hands really roughly which I didn't like. he filed my nails all uneven my ring finger you can physically see where it slants to the side and my two middle fingers are both uneven..
