If you're visiting the Lake Martin area, and are in need of some wine, slip by Emporium Wine. Henry does a great job of having some of the more popular labels, plus a couple that you might like to try after his recommendations. He also keeps lots of good beer on hand that you won't find in the corner grocery, plus cigars. I don't smoke them but those who do tell me it's a good selection. Henry also has some paintings and framed photography from some local artists. He's located downtown in a beautiful old refurbished building. Worth a stop, especially if you are coming to the lake from Birmingham. Downtown is not far from 280, so it won't take you long.

Dollar General is a great one-stop shop for map-dots that aren't populous enough for big box…read morestores. All DGs that I have been to have a wide variety of goods. You can find anything from two cycle oil to Stouffer's. The location in Munford, which is my closest store, has great employees and long hours. If I don't want to drive nearly twenty minutes into the nearest town, DG usually has what I need.
